Flippin norks...

MaQueen · 30/01/2017 17:09

So, decided I needed a bit of an image overhaul to kick start 2017. I have been following a couple of style blogs littlefashioncloset & my fashionableforties, after someone recommended them on here.

I love how they style their clothes, and I love that they mainly wear black, grey, navy & taupe, and keep things simple. I ordered a few items they recommended, and an oversize, grey cardi from H&M arrived today.

They style it with a black, striped Breton or a blush pink, lacy camisole, black skinnies and biker boots.

Tried on the whole ensemble....and it would look great except for my bleddy 34G norks Angry. It completely passed me by, that these bloggers have no boobs so everything falls very stylishly on them.

In this oversized cardi and cami they manage to look pixie-petite and dainty...whereas, I just look matronly (I think?).

DH likes the camisole Hmm

Thing is I'm on heavy-duty HRT so there's little chance of my norks shrinking anytime soon, even if I diet.

You are v welcome Smile

But darn, now I made myself look at them and I really, really don't need any bras just now....

Deathraystare · 02/02/2017 10:42

I am an apple shape and really hate my big tum but I notice that most often when I try something on my norks get in the way 38F. I hate looking matronly (still kidding myself I am a teenager, but in reality in my 50's -when did that happen??!)

TheLittleFoxes · 02/02/2017 14:01

Thanks for all the suggestions.

@Statisticallychallenged What pattern do you use and where do you buy your supplies? I can sew a bit and would love to be able to see my own bras.

TeethDrama · 02/02/2017 17:38

You need to find tops that either have a waistband (i.e. Jumpers with a knit stretch waistband instead of the slouch look, or tops that tuck into skirts or trousers and most importantly, puff out a bit.) These both give you a waist also clothes gently hang from shoulders to waist passing by the chest instead of sticking to them like glue and making boobs look even bigger. Finer /lighter fabrics like fine-knit cotton or wool, or chiffon, are good as are Minimiser or balcony bras. For extra smoothing I wear a silky feel stretch cami top over the bra (in black, nude or white depending on what I'm wearing) as this means clothes dont stick to your bra/bust contours.

TeethDrama · 02/02/2017 17:45

Contrary to pp's I find a v neck the least flattering. It outlines each individual boob too much so it does nothing c to digitise them and then there's the too much cleavage issue, or too little cleavage ie Nan looking v necks (sorry Nan's!) Slash or boat necks are good, crew and polo necks ok if the jumper is fine knit and not clingy. Frilly is good, it creates a diversion from the boob size & shape and some frills can really disguise well. Cotton jersey tops are my worst nightmare as are tight t shirts, non clingy fabric is good.

TeethDrama · 02/02/2017 17:46

Disguise not digitise! Arf.

DancingHouse · 02/02/2017 17:49

I'm not convinced it's to do with the size but more about boob shape.

I'm 30hh but shaped like oranges in a sock with a wide cleavage. Crew necks, polo tops, long necklaces and scarves suit me perfectly and V necks just show gapey boobs. Curvy Kate's are also useless for me, I tend to get on with Cleo panache.

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/02/2017 18:25

Ah sorry, I don't sew my own bras (I largely get them from Poland!), it's clothes I make at the moment. One day I might do bras though, I think if I do I will probably take apart one that works for me

Purple52 · 02/02/2017 18:54

Minimisers just stuff them under your arm pits and you end up walking round with your arms puffed out like the Michelin man!!

Get to bravissimo and get a decent balconet bra for a nice shape. You might find a full cup make them stick out even further.

Yours. 34 HH

I know your pain.

treaclesoda · 02/02/2017 19:25

I have a couple of wide scoop necked blouses and my boobs vanish in them, they're ace

I can't quite visualise what shape this would be. Can anyone link to something? Because something that makes my boobs disappear is very much something I need to know about.

BakeOffBiscuits · 02/02/2017 20:18

I've found my people!

I'm 32F and 5ft 2. I'm slim but find it really difficult to find anything that fits properly. I think it's the combination of boobs and shortnessSad

However I have had some success recently at Jigsaw. I bought a couple of very thin jumpers, one a cowl neck and another a bat winged top. They both have a deep bands around the bottom which sit really well on the hips.

Bra wise I really like Fantasie for support and lift!

Badders123 · 02/02/2017 20:26

I do have a waist and hips but I my boobs are comedy size.
And yes, padded bras over a c cup? Ffs
I love charnos bras and bravissimo for swimwear...I have to have boob fortification!
I've recently started wearing button up blouses with my jeggings and boots...they look.ok.if I keep the top two buttons undone.
But I have 2 jumpers that make me look like a man in bad drag 😥

happypoobum · 02/02/2017 20:48

32H

I am incandescent at the number of round necks in the shops. I also have a very high chest bone, so a lot of V necks are too low for me. The V ends below the band at the front of my bra Sad

I end up wearing camis under V necks ALL THE FUCKING TIME.

I feel a bit better now...............

treaclesoda · 02/02/2017 20:50

I have padded bras in a 32GG. Well, moulded rather than padded I suppose. (Fantasie moulded) and they actually make me look smaller and neater than my non moulded ones.

something like this - mine are cap sleeved, but wide and low in the front

shirt

treaclesoda · 02/02/2017 21:26

Thank you Sweet. I would never have thought of trying that style, must check it out.

MaQueen · 02/02/2017 22:19

I can't see that a deep scoop neck could make my boobs disappear? In that top in the link I'd just look like Molly, the serving wench, carrying a foaming tankard of ale...

I think the way to go is very thin layers, with something that actually hugs your hips? I've always favoured loose sweaters that sort of swing round your hips. But thinking about it, they can make me look tent like...

And, I'm having a crack at losing 7lbs (lost 2.5lbs so far) to see if that makes any difference at all?

On the bra front, I'm a big fan of Freya balcony bras. Though am currently trialling a couple of M&S balcony bras, which are doing an admirable job and were only £25 for 2!

I've had a very trying shopping day - dh took me shopping, I spent a small fortune, and it all has to go back because of my bloody baps!!

And Hush, I had such high hopes for Hush, but I got my first delivery today and looked like a string of sausages in every item.

WhiteTable · 02/02/2017 23:41

I'm a 12 with 32 HH boobs. I have been big busted since I wished and wished for boobs as a late developing teenager.
My general rule for tops etc is fitted with some stretch. That's about all I can do. Anything floaty just makes me look like a ball!!

BakeOffBiscuits · 03/02/2017 08:04

This is the top I bought recently which is fab.

www.jigsaw-online.com/product/luxury-blend-cowl-neck/J31238_BL010

It looks alot better irl, than in the pictures.

I'm a 10 or 12 in tops and a small fits me really well.

Laiste · 03/02/2017 09:00

bakeoff yes cowl necks, as long as they are low enough can be very flattering on me. 34GG. It has to hit apx half way up the boob shelf.

Can i just reiterate once again that if you think you are in the wrong bra do put aside a few hours to yourself, wear an easy in easy out top and go on a massive try on session somewhere which sells the bigger cups sizes. Prepare to try on 10+ bras or as many as it will take. It's knackering and can be demoralising (who looks good in shop mirrors, harsh light and a load of wrong bras?) but sometimes it has to be done. Handfulls of bras if necessary. Try your top on over the bra when you think you've got it right and check again.

I was a bra fitter for years and many times spent whole mornings with just one women getting her fitted in the right bra. I used to love those customers the best because the transformation in their figure and the joy at the end was so rewarding Grin

Don't be a slave to following the sizing. You wouldn't go shoe shopping and only try on the size 6 (or whatever) in every shop. Every brand comes up different. Every style within that brand will fit you differently. Go up and down the back and cup sizes till it's right. Remember the bra should fit you well on it's loosest hook when new, if poss and then you can tighten it up over time when it stretches a bit.

If your Tits are oscillating at spin Shock you need a. A sports bra
B. To increase the resistance Too much bouncing on the spin bike means your legs aren't working

CherryPie400 · 03/02/2017 10:03

I'm a 34K and hate hate hate my boobs. I'm stuck in my mum uniform of leggings, longline vest top and cardigan!! except I've got a bit of a tum so it makes me look pregnant, I have no clue what to wear and all the shops sell are pretty little feminine tops for women with no Tits and tiny little waists/flat tummies so they aren't long enough to cover my ginormous boobs and my mum tum!

BusterGonad · 03/02/2017 10:30

I'm a 36 EE or maybe a F depending on the brand, I'm 5"9 and a size 14 and what I find truly frustrating that I don't think anyone's mentioned is that when I'm trying on dresses in a size 14 I can't get the zip up when it's near my breast, yet a 16 is to big in my hips which aren't particularly large. I hold my weight in my tummy and boobs with slim legs, hips and ass. The dresses that I love and really struggle to do up and then once I've done them up the dress digs under my armpits. I do tend to wear anything I like design wise that fits. I love a roll neck under dresses, I love colours and patterns,I just wish that shops would make a bit more boobage space in dresses or add a bit of stretch. I like shirts but usually the buttons stop doing up just below the jugs! I don't own one v neck!!!

IJustLostTheGame · 03/02/2017 15:45

bustergonad YES!!!!
I try on tops in an 8, no way do they even begin to fit over the bust but they fit my waist. I try on a 10, too big everywhere except the bust. I have to buy a 12 which makes me look like I'm 2 sizes bigger than I am, fits nowhere really but a 14 is ridiculous and cry on the way home before returning said tops the following week.
