Thread 3

Thread 4

For those who are taking a peek and wondering whether thread 1,2, 3, and 4 are worth reading, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients for our particular needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are in as much detail as possible, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

Make sure you've read the earlier threads (or at the very least the first one) so we're not being asked to answer to previously raised questions. It takes a lot of time and effort to answer these queries and often the answers can be found in previous threads, but if you still have questions relating specifically to you, use the following form to make life easier on us. We generally answer one or to two people a day on a first come first served basis. Not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly either.

Thanks for the advice above Bo, I opted for the P50W in the end - better safe than sorry :)

EnidButton · 08/03/2017 21:38

Do skin city deliver to the UK then? I'm assuming U.K. comes under 'foreign deliveries in Europe'?

I'd rather get it from them than jump through hoops.

EnidButton · 08/03/2017 21:39

And I've lost my link to the b5 toner. Can you remember what it was called please bo?

banivani · 08/03/2017 21:43

Look, don't all you foreigners go buying all the p50 before I get a chance to try it! 😩

JDSTER · 08/03/2017 21:44

Also tempted by P50w!
Hollin that Boots eye makeup remover- I assume you rate it highly? I'm wearing Clinique lash power flutter to full mascara which I love but it's a bugger to remove (supposed to remove easily with waterHmm)

JDSTER · 08/03/2017 21:46

enid I did a dummy run of putting p50 in my basket and it's free delivery to UK! Are you still getting on ok with the decant you got?

EnidButton · 08/03/2017 21:51

Ah good JD thanks Smile I have a little bit left thank you, have tested it on one lower cheek and nose. Nose was fine but it can with stand a lot. Lower cheek slightly pink but think lumps went down and done pale pigmentation faded. Going to try the last bit all over lower cheeks but leave it a few days from now. Then think I'll be ordering.

hollinhurst84 · 08/03/2017 21:57

JDSTER - it's not perfect but it's the best I've tried for me. I imagine if you can use an oil based or duo phase then they're probably more effective/quicker. My eyes are so sensitive I can't tolerate many at all

botemp · 08/03/2017 22:02

I'm not sure anymore, Enid. Was it from Derma E, possibly? Think it was a US sort of natural actives brand that was available with Victoria Health.

Thanks Bo I'll look back through the thread tomorrow (or might've been on the last one- will do a search). I was sure I'd made a note of it.

eversions · 08/03/2017 22:19

Can anyone recommend a cleanser for my first cleanse please? I'm really enjoying the LRP Toleriane Dermo Cleanser as my second cleanser, but not so sure anymore the Origins Clean Energy Gentle Cleansing Oil is actually good for my sensitive skin?! Really trying to keep it simple before I go and introduce the actives etc later on. Thanks ladies!

hollinhurst84 · 08/03/2017 22:44

I like the Clinique take the day off balm, and una Brennan cleansing oils
Body shop chamomile balm is popular as well

mintmagnummm · 09/03/2017 09:41

Has anyone tried the face theory regenercalm serum

160A4 · 09/03/2017 11:03

The P50W is now sold out at Skincity, at least it's not coming up for me in search. I was so excited when I saw the post about it.
I'm going to cry in a corner!

hollinhurst84 · 09/03/2017 11:27

Slightly veering off topic but any scalp advice? Mine is flaking v badly, not greasy dandruff flakes but dry. Used T gel on it this morning and it looks ten times worse!

FreeButtonBee · 09/03/2017 11:59

Philip Kingsley Flaky Itchy Scalp Shampoo - I've used it for about 7 years and buy litre bottles of it at a time. DH also uses it.

If you need some immediate relief, then the PK scalp tonic is very soothing but not really necessary long term. I don't rate the rest of the range (although I know some people rave about the elasticizer) but that shampoo is a constant in our house.

macnab · 09/03/2017 12:55

Thanks botemp the cream in Spain is called Retrides and is absolutely legal! Can be bought in any pharmacy and there are two strengths. If there was anything dodgy about obtaining it, I wouldn't have even considered it.

It's not my entire eyelid affected, just the top half from the crease up to my brow. I went to chemist and was advised to use Epaderm so I cleansed with that and then applied a thin layer and already have seen a huge improvement.

I do appreciate your concern and have taken your comments on board. I'll be sticking with high street products from now on, and will stay away from these sorts of specialist threads as well as I just find it all so confusing (even though I'm in my 40s, highly educated and holding down a responsible full time job!!)

160A4 · 09/03/2017 13:40

botemp thanks for the earlier information about HA. I've gone back through my beauty notes and all the products I've tried that contain is have caused irritation so without understanding which form it is, I think I need to stay well away. Skin looks much calmer today after laying off the AHA too. It likes BHA.

As for the BR products at Skincity, I can't find any of them now, surely they can't have sold out of all them.

Any P50 W users in the UK who order online, can you tell me where from please? PM if you prefer!

Hollin my scalp is the same grrrrr and I've yet to find a shampoo and conditioner that is great for my hair and doesn't flare up my scalp! I've tried the Philip Kingsley itchy flaky scalp one and wasn't impressed at all!

OpenMindedSceptic · 09/03/2017 14:46

hollin let me know if you find something that works! I've had dry itchy flakey scalp for years. Have tried Selsun, Nizoral, T-Gel, rinsing with vinegar etc... Currently using LRP Kerium and there is some improvement but nothing amazing...

hollinhurst84 · 09/03/2017 14:47

I've bought the elvive men's anti dandruff intense as that seemed to be well rated. Then I can figure out if it is dandruff or just dry scalp. It's mainly around my hairline and is always much worse in winter Confused

160A4 · 09/03/2017 14:48

Well Buttercup , the plot thickens. All of the BR products are for sale on the Swedish version of the site, but none on the English version. Puzzling. Unless it's a licence issue - perhaps Skincity have only been permitted to sell BR in Sweden? Confused

wiltingfast · 09/03/2017 15:01

We should all email them and whine Grin
