Thread 2

Thread 3

Thread 4

For those who are taking a peek and wondering whether thread 1,2, 3, and 4 are worth reading, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients for our particular needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are in as much detail as possible, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

Make sure you've read the earlier threads (or at the very least the first one) so we're not being asked to answer to previously raised questions. It takes a lot of time and effort to answer these queries and often the answers can be found in previous threads, but if you still have questions relating specifically to you, use the following form to make life easier on us. We generally answer one or to two people a day on a first come first served basis. Not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly either.

I just posted the P50W INCI on this thread not too far back in reply to Enid. P50 only available with verified sales points where they give you a sort of skin assessment/consultation (at no charge). It's part of their schtick (I kind of approve since I don't think people should jump on these things lightly, but is a huge hassle in this next day delivery world). There have been some posters who had success with some Spa selling it to them by phoning them up (sorry forgot the name but they are listed on the BR official site) but they didn't have the travel size (50ml) which is what I'd start out with.

The Missha are the Super Aqua Smooth Peeling Pads. INCI here.

I’m not sure where it went wrong – the TO Buffet definitely gave me spots quickly so I stopped that and then independently the BHA also gave me spots so I stopped that. The HA I thought was going OK (and the serum I have used for ages has HA in). I hadn’t really started using the TO retinoid, but have been using the face theory M4 for a few weeks without significant craziness. However when everything went crazy I hadn’t actually added in anything new for a while so I am not sure  Things do actually seem to be settling yesterday and today (by which I mean no new cysts developing) although I am still covered in big red blobs. The differin is going OK and is not drying me out too much although I would like to see what happens when I stop it. I have been working ridiculously hard (writing and delivering a new lecture series) for the last month or two so maybe it was a cumulative stress thing??? I have also gone out and bought some omega 3 and magnesium supplements after reading some article that said dermatologists take them!

So my boots haul - I had vouchers from EON! I searched the new Lancôme teint 24hr foundation shades. My sample is 005 but confusingly 008 is the the palest and cool toned. I love the product so the new shade is on my list when I've used something up

Bought stuff that Botemp won't kill me for--
LRP lait makeup remover milk
LRP toleraine dermo cleanser
Avene hydrance optimale moisturiser
Boots botanic all bright cleanser (I use this every am, it's lovely)
Boots simply sensitive eye makeup remover (this is my third bottle)
T gel (my scalp is having a meltdown)
NYX micro brow pencil - this is meant to be a dupe of ABH brow wiz, I got taupe shade
Shaving gel (it's nearly summer) Grin

160A4 · 08/03/2017 16:46

bo I was stuck on Thread 2, have now seen the ingredients and notice it also contains niacinamide so I'm making it my business to get hold of a bottle even if means a trip to London.
Thanks again.

Hollinhurst, I had an email from EON going on about vouchers recently, didn't know what it was so I'd better have a look. Just getting ready to do a big Boots online order.

I'm interested in the Boots Simply Sensitive eye make up remover, I currently use a different Boots one. Is yours a lotion or is it a liquid?

160A4 · 08/03/2017 16:50

EON vouchers are on their way, will hold off on Boots order and shop in store instead when they arrive. Thanks for mentioning it Hollinhurst !

hollinhurst84 · 08/03/2017 16:50

They do (or did) bonus bond vouchers as a reward via points which is how I got them

It's a lotion, about £2 and doesn't make my eyes blurry. I really struggle with eye makeup remover, olay did my fave and then discontinued it Angry
I can't use those duo phase ones or anything oily. Micellar water doesn't seem to do the job

hollinhurst84 · 08/03/2017 16:52

If we are on money saving beauty Wink I use quidco app and also an app called receipt hog. No pay outs yet but building up nicely. I figure if I'm shopping anyway I may as well get cash back and use the receipts for money!

EnidButton · 08/03/2017 17:35

The new 008 shade is the one I'm drawn to Hollin From online swatches it looks a better match for me than the 005 that I used to use. Will get a sample at the weekend, thanks for the reminder.

160A4 · 08/03/2017 18:02

I'll give that Boots one a try Hollinhurst, the one I use currently is very good at removing the eye make up but they don't always have it in my local (tiny) branch.
The EON vouchers apparently take up to 3 weeks to be delivered. I had the option of 'high street vouchers' or convert to Tesco clubcard points so I went for the vouchers. I have no idea how much they're worth but they had started to expire (already lost 500 points apparently) so thanks again for mentioning it.

160A4 · 08/03/2017 18:04

Well I think I've been right about my skin not liking HA.
I've just done my cleansing routine as I'm going out in a bit. I decided to try the Hylamide Sub serum again and now I want to rip my face off. Need to wash it off.
Is it a usual thing to be sensitive to it?

hollinhurst84 · 08/03/2017 18:11

Awesome Smile I seem to remember it's maybe 1000 points for £10. You can use them in other places but I figured getting advantage card points and the 3 for 2 was best value!
Mine took about 5 days to arrive

wiltingfast · 08/03/2017 18:33

I think I got an email this morning from skincity announcing Biologique Recherche for sale...

I did!

wiltingfast · 08/03/2017 18:34

Wasn't sure this am as the newsletter comes in Swedish (I think) Grin

botemp · 08/03/2017 18:49

Shock How did I miss that email this morning but not the Cult Beauty and SpaceNK one trying to make me spend £££ to get a somewhat tempting goody bag full of things I really shouldn't have any interest in.

Brilliant news though! They're a bit pricier than here locally but I'm assuming cheaper than the UK and they have the travel size version too. Plus free shipping and they do have the occasional offers that make the prices very interesting.

160A4, HA is troublesome as there are several varieties of them (molecular weight sizes but also a salt form) that are all listed as the same ingredient in an INCI. Deciem loves the Low Molecular Weight stuff a whole lot but it can be quite sensitising to some.

wilting I was just coming on to maybe say that, but wasn't sure Skincity had a following outside Sweden. :D Great minds. I heard BR was coming to Skincity on Kakan Hermanssons podcast a week or so ago :D

Oh the podcast is very modern language sometimes so might be hard to follow (or educational, depending on view). Missed your spammy posts but found threads hard to keep up with, am vowing to stay tuned now. Skincity is such a dependable and serious skincare shop compared to some out there, but on my personal skincare journey (lol) i am not so keen to spend so much atm and most of their brands are so so dear. :(

yongnian · 08/03/2017 19:34

Popping head round the door before I lose the thread forever!

Dulcimena · 08/03/2017 20:06

Oooh I like the SkinCity BR developments - and they have the travel sizes AND free shipping, how civilized! Thanks for sharing, wilting :) The icing on the cake news is the codes. I'm still thinking about that Verso eye serum...

Glad all is well, Bo. I like some of the stuff on that site, think it must be the exchange rate because it all looks fairly predictably priced this end. I think I may have seen some (or v similar) in Liberty? Maybe not. The wallet is safe though, for now... Ty for the nuts & chocolate tip, I had some 100% stuff from Hotel Chocolat once but it was so dry! I might try the 90% and see if it'll hit the spot. I do like almonds, walnuts, etc so that's a good reminder.

TO Lactic acid, definitely unimpressed. Now using it up on my legs but I'm not sure it's doing anything there either...

macnab I think everything's been said on the retin-a front. I hope your eyelids are ok though - blimey, I can imagine they are very sore :(

Hollin you went to town! I like that Botanics cleanser too.

yong how's the horse???

hollinhurst84 · 08/03/2017 20:13

The botanics was on offer Wink a third off or something so would have been rude not to

But which P50 to go for, that is the question! I've got a 50ml of the PIGM and the V in my cart - I'm tempted to get both tbh... The sample I received from Pupsie turned me into a tomato briefly but the stuff works :)

banivani · 08/03/2017 20:36

dulci I like the TO lactic acid? Maybe mostly because I haven't overexfoliated with it. I followed a tip from the founder of Skincity when she was on Kakan Hermansson's podcast and follow the acid with my TO retinol like some mad eejit - that gives a bit of a boost actually.

OpenMindedSceptic · 08/03/2017 20:43

Hmm, tempted by the small size P50W Grin

botemp · 08/03/2017 21:10

Crikey, you lot are going to rob them of their supplies says the woman heavily contemplating the P50 body version and a cleanser Shock. General words of advice, start with P50W to build up use then move on to another version (or not, some really like the W and stick with that). The P50 PIGM 400 has a shorter shelf life of 6 months vs 12, you're unlikely to be able to finish that with a 2-3x a week use alongside another P50 so I suggest to choose one or the other. In terms of strength the order is vaguely; P50W, P50V, P50 PIGM 400, P50.

Stainless, maybe it would be easiest to get him a sunscreen that doubles up as a moisturiser?
