Thread 1

Thread 2

Thread 3

For those who are taking a peek and wondering whether thread 1,2, and 3 are worth reading, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients for our particular needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Grin

This January we're doing some added extra chitchat about food and diet and reducing or eliminating sugar for both overall and skin health. Recipe sharing encouraged.

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are in as much detail as possible, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

If you want help, please do read through the previous threads first. It takes a lot of time and effort to answer these queries and often the answers can be found in previous threads, but if you still have questions use the following form to make life easier on us. We generally answer one or to two people a day on a first come first served basis. Not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly either.

Lego indeed the one thing I would find very annoying is the battery running out -> having to do this super boring chore two/ three evenings in a row. That is why I was thinking (maybe) of getting the smaller device which is not battery operated. I know I would have to change the head sooner, but they are also cheaper. Well, I need to go to a proper shop to look at all the options.

bo - not buying any sheet masks either at the mo Grin
I ordered the 4GF eye cream from eBay. It seems it'll take ages to get here (fine, as I still have some left) but I'm really intrigued by the amazing INCI list.

Essie gel polish report - still looking pretty good! Certainly better than other polishes look on me after 4 days. There are no chips but it is coming off a bit at the tip of the nail. Must stress though I tried not to be super careful when cooking etc so as to see how it truly lasts. I also didn't make any special effort when I applied it. Filed my nails, two coats polish and one coat gel top coat.

AuroraPolaris · 16/01/2017 16:26

Stainless I'm also neutral, or rather mixed. If you look at my veins though, you would think I'm cool. For some reason at counter they always try to sell me warm/ yellow tones. Hmm
Luckily my chest and arms are also neutral, as opposed to my legs that are really cool toned.
Some brands (YSL, Chanel, for example) have mixed tones shades - sometimes called BR (beige-rosé).

Thistle72 · 16/01/2017 17:32

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I have only tried Balance me serum, I've not tried any others.
I like the more natural but not sure if they be enough to help with the lines I've got, I'm a bit nervous about the acids.

Thistle72 · 16/01/2017 17:35

Thanks so much.
I'm going to investigate the suggestions above.

AuroraPolaris · 16/01/2017 18:57

Bo KIKO have a 24hr offer - free blue mascara with every purchase (I think with min of 25€). Didn't you want a blue mascara? Grin

And how could I forget to say I passed one of their shops last week and found the burgundy mascara. They only had the one and it was on sale... The effect is quite subtle but very nice for my blue eyes. The formula is very good (not comparing it to Grandiose, of course, that wouldn't be fair). Quite lengthening and bit volumizing and does not budge (including in -113c Wink).

JDSTER · 16/01/2017 19:04

Think my question got lost last night. Going on holiday to sunnier climes in a few weeks. Which facial spf could you rec please? Only have clinique city block spf 40 which I presume won't cut it! Combination skin so nothing too heavy please

JDSTER · 16/01/2017 19:08

Aurora thanks for feedback on Essie. I love Essie nail varnish. I used to get it from the States years ago when it wasn't so easily available. Mademoiselle is my favourite nude/hardly there but makes my nails look better sort of polish

botemp · 16/01/2017 19:15

Good to know you found the burgundy one, I've looked at that blue one but it's a bit eighties. The Sisley one is a much nicer blue... I've also been looking at the Sisley tinted moisturiser, which is the same weird peachy colour, thankfully there was no sales assistant available to annoy about a sample.

JDSTER, depends what kind of holiday. Full on beach and waterproof will be a different thing to just a hot country city trip and it also depends how fair you are and quickly you burn.

OP posts:
JDSTER · 16/01/2017 19:21

Fair blonde hair, would burn easily. Beach type holiday though not much swimming unless I get dragged to a water parkGrin

AuroraPolaris · 16/01/2017 19:22

You are welcome JDSTER. I don't have a lot of patience for nail polish (surprising seeing my endless patience for skin care Grin) because it always chips on me with cooking etc so this cheers me up!

As I said before i was extremely pleased with the Anessa perfect facial UV. A bit expensive but has very good "skin care" INCI which meant I used it instead of moisturizer. Spent three weeks on the beach last summer and hardly tanned (though I always wear hat and sunglasses and sit in the shade if not swimming... or SUPing Wink). I also have the silver one for "normal" days.

Maybe you can find a seller that offers free shipping.

Before that I used Avene 50+ for years but now it gives me spots Angry

botemp · 16/01/2017 19:25

So water resistant as opposed to needing a water proof one? I'd say LRP anthelios should cover that in one of their finishes, and I'd get the Bioderma waterspray to top up if wearing makeup but best to just be diligent and reapply every 2hrs in the sun.

OP posts:
AuroraPolaris · 16/01/2017 19:26

X post with *bo.

Yeah it is a bit eighties. I'm sure the Sisley one is nicer Grin. How come they haven't sent you one?

I used to have a purple one that I either used only on tips of lashes (over black mascara like LE showed a few years ago) or for the beach. Yes, I'm one of those pathetic ppl that can't go to the beach w/o mascarasShockGrin

AuroraPolaris · 16/01/2017 19:31

Oh no, don't start telling me about Sisley tinted stuff unless they send it to us together with our palettes as my CC cream is also nearing the end of its life.

botemp · 16/01/2017 19:35

The Sisley PR is one lazy fucker, well that's my guess anyhow. Grin

OP posts:
JDSTER · 16/01/2017 19:38

Thanks. I'll have a look at LRP as easy to get hold of.

AuroraPolaris · 16/01/2017 19:40

Well whoever formulated that moisturizer is also a bit lazy - 4 parabens!!!! And most of the lovely plant things are less than 1%.

botemp · 16/01/2017 19:43

Yeah, the #2 colour does the same thing, looks weird and orangey and then blends away into nothingness and then does that weird colour elimination thing. I have quite transparent skin on the back of my hands and it made all the veins disappear without actually covering them. Then did the side by side with the bare hand and was startled by sorcery once more. But it's like €90 for 40ml Shock. I think it's cheaper to just use concealer all over my face.

Although I really haven't been looking into many other offerings in the CC/BB/TM category, I'm pretty sure there will be much more competition in that field at better prices than THE concealer.

OP posts:
AuroraPolaris · 16/01/2017 19:45

Just to further educate on not judging INCI/ efficiency by pretty packaging and price here is the INCI of that eye cream from Manyo Factory

--Still love the concealer though

Yet More Fantastic Skincare and Where To Find It
AuroraPolaris · 16/01/2017 19:48

After I put the concealer I take the little Zoeva brush and blend it a bit downwards and same around nostrils and it works soooo well. It's also amazing how concentrated it is.

Mind you the TM is mat finish and contains matifying powder or so they say. Definitely nit for me Wink

AuroraPolaris · 16/01/2017 19:49

... not Bike

botemp · 16/01/2017 20:08

Hmm, not sure how accurate those ingredients are on the Sisley, their official website has no INCI but seems to sprout different key ingredients. Not that it matters, I don't really need a pricey base now that I have THE concealer, I honestly can't remember the last time I wore base, it must have been in 2016. I use my beauty blender with the concealer and it does a great job, and easily does the whole lid along with it, I'm tempted to get some baby beauty blenders and see if that actually does a better job. I haven't tried my Zoeva brush with it yet, I'll do that tomorrow I think.

I was wondering about the order though with the Manyo, it being Korean and all. I rarely ever see the EGF so high up in the INCI, which makes it all the more intriguing. I'll await your verdict and then probably purchase it too.

OP posts:
AuroraPolaris · 16/01/2017 20:39

I checked the Sisley INCI on two places Wink
But the price - 90€ for 40ml while we payed 47-50€ for 30ml Shock
Yeah I also want to try it with the mini BB (or maybe I should get the one Skin City told me to buy off them to try with the BT blush Grin)

I agree re the Manyo but figured those ingredients are fascinating in whichever order they come plus the brand has such amazing reviews plus plus I payed 25€ for 30ml... I want to try everything they makeShockConfused

botemp · 16/01/2017 20:46

I had the issue with INCI concealer too, there was an old version and a new version. Anyhow, I'm not gonna buy it. No matter how lovely it is, the fact that there was no eager sales assistant was a sign that I so don't need it Chanel just launched some new bases Wink.

Me too, every time I go on the Manyo website there's more to discover. They are definitely my next target to get a galcto/fermented something back in my routine again. Nice to know eBay has their stuff, initially I had looked there but on the app and it automatically changed it to mango factory (the app, not autocorrect for a change) and figured there were no products on there. I'm tempted to get one of the little travel sets that has a whole bunch of products all in one...

I keep meaning to pass by Primark that supposedly makes baby BB's that are better than the original and only a few euros, makes sense for my experiment just need to convince myself to go there now Confused.

OP posts:
AuroraPolaris · 16/01/2017 21:09

--Which Chanel new foundation? Not that super expensive one...?

Yeah the Manyo galactomites cream also looks amazing but I didn't have that much research time so haven't managed to discover if they sell a sample is that.
They have a few lovely looking sets, sigh.
I need a research budget!!!

Let's just do a MN skincare world tour - Korea, Taiwan and Japan. Needless to say we fly through Paris to pop into Sephora. Who wants to join?
