Herbs, North Mid failed to diagnose my Dcousin's throat cancer, but when it had been diagnosed elsewhere, they did a good job on him. Whipps Cross, another Dcousin is under for the management of her MS. They seem to be doing an OK job. Royal London, no knowledge. I do find the North Mid unutterably grim - have visited various ailing relatives in there over the years. Whipps Cross a little more cheerful, but no knowledge of either for hip issues.

Rudy - next interview is next week, but not sure I want the job now...

Lalsy · 22/01/2017 13:24

Rudy, I agree, it is odd isn't t? I think it is partly stuff being legal/more open, so I sort of felt with dd OK, now IS the time for her to do this stuff (which obvs she had before anyway) and of course we are still there to pick up the pieces...... Just had the soppiest of soppy conversations with dd - an eavesdropper would not have believed it was us - she has come such a long way Grin.

Crem, you poor love, is it back to the doc for you?

Herbs, heartily agree re choice - I think people often choose on the basis of coffee machines and car parking fees. It is a complete diversion from what matters (with possible exception of things like maternity and mental health services).

Was thinking of Stropps yesterday. Wondering what way her course is organised.
Also wondered if BTM saw her in Bath?

Poor ds Rudy. How will you distract him from food?

My task for the day is to stay awake and not go to sleep in the afternoon. Throat really raw today and keeping eyes open hopeless. Going out to the goats now for some fresh air.

Tuesday, isn't it , the judges decide about Article 50? I am looking forward with interest.

Lalsy · 22/01/2017 14:24

Rudy, I felt like I have a bit of my headspace back. And as ds approaches 18, I can feel the same happening. He turns 18 just before his A levels - so this summer both my dc will be adults! Gulp.

CointreauVersial · 22/01/2017 14:32

Am just enjoying a peaceful cappuccino and sandwich mid-shop. Mostly I have been returning things; a great result in M&S when I brought in one of the Advent Calendar goodies which has defective packaging (a serum, which wouldn't dispense). They couldn't exchange or refund, so the lovely lady took me down to the Beauty section and found me a similar full sized serum to swap it with. I think it retails at about £15. Now that's good customer service!

On the downside, I took DD1's iPhone back to the menders who replaced the screen just before Christmas, because it has since lifted off at one corner. It turns out she's now bent the casing, so there was nothing they can do without incurring £££. Angry And I'm not prepared to pay more if she can't look after the bloody thing - it's only six months old FFS. They get loads of iPhones with bent cases, apparently, more than any other make of phone.....funny, that. Angry

bigTillyMint · 22/01/2017 15:30

CV that's a result in M&S!
I hate iphones.

Cremo, hope you get to feeling better before you jet off - when do you go?

Rudy, I am looking forward to DD turning 18 in the summer, though she is already doing most of the stuff that she will be able to do legally...
And Envy of the woodburner.

Bath weekend was good - spa was relaxing despite the steam and sauna rooms being closed, but we have a voucher for another visit when they reopen! All seems to have been OKish without me here, phew.

I didn't see Stropps in Bath, but she is KOBO despite all that life is throwing at her Star

motherinferior · 22/01/2017 18:11

Not a good day here (nothing major, just mired in self-pity and self-dislike) but am bashing towards the end of draft #4...

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/01/2017 21:25

But end of draft 4 is good though, no, MI?

I have done nothing today except cook, washing and putting away washing. Next week is going to be a PITA as DH has a funeral to go to, which means I have to go to Parents Evening on my own.

Other news, my friend who left her husband and children the week before Christmas "to spend time with another man alone" has told me that the man she left her DH for is over 30 years older than her. So well into his 70s. ShockShockShock But he has lots of money and no dependents...

Blackduck · 22/01/2017 21:26

BTM good to hear Stropps is okay :)

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 22/01/2017 21:48

Wow, Mrs S. That's going to make the dumped husband feel great! Unless he was in his eighties Grin

I'm sick again. Nose so runny I want to chop it off and hands so cold, they feel like ice blocks. I have been very ineffectual today, so Dh has 'taken on the parenting' with appropriate levels of shouting, door slamming etc etc. So that helped my headache. I'm tucked up in bed with him watching Apple Tree Yard downstairs about norty 40 or 50 year olds shagging strange men. That'll keep him on his toes.....

Cremolafoam · 22/01/2017 22:16

Beachy, sorry you are poorly Sad we really need a giant wide bed for sick Crépies, and a Dark and Stormy waiter to bring us drinks on a tray. I am completely DEAF today. is it just me who found Apple Tree Yard, cringey. And another thing, when Theresa May says 'special relationship' I feel ever so slightly queasy

MI, hope things improved. Mrs S sorry you'll be on your own at parents night.most parents nights ended up being my domain iirc. Dh was hopeless, and remembered nothing pertinent of the ones he went to.
BD, thinking of you this week.

I have cheered myself up with the help of a couple of glasses of cheap fizz, the line in ATY about "my body looks like a jelly-baby" and the prospect of finishing draft 4. Also managed not to kill DP when he said with the conviction of someone who knows sweet FA about writing that surely it must be done by now. (That would be why I had meetings to pull it all into geographical/historical shape then, would it...)

motherinferior · 22/01/2017 22:21

My cousin's DH is early 70s and Well Fit, I have to say.

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/01/2017 22:25

Oh yes, other halves who know nothing about something you know a lot about and feel that it is important to give you the benefit of their thoughts. We had a huge row earlier about languages. If you only speak one, and the other person speaks six or seven, you would think you were on a losing wicket, no?

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/01/2017 22:28

I really don't think I could find someone over 30 years older than me sexually attractive.

Lalsy · 22/01/2017 22:35

Not sure you are missing much, Beachy. Middle-aged woman who wears skirty swimsuit is naughty. Middle class people drink red wine all the time and talk in cliches. Recycling boxes are annoying. Genetics is cool. Not convinced, despite seductive chat about protein coding, which mainstream tv should have more of Grin. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Lalsy · 22/01/2017 22:39

Yeah, cringey, Crem. And top new sick bed idea!

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/01/2017 23:51

Although 30 years older than me would be in their 80s not 70s.

motherinferior · 23/01/2017 06:54

They had a nice kitchen though. All v glossy. Much nicer than ours.Smile

My cousin's DH is only 17 years older than her. And they met when she was in her early 30s, so he didn't lurk outside her sixth form or anything - he'd already been married. I have another friend in a similar-age marriage - actually they're both (v eminent) geneticists, I must ask her what she thought of ATY.

Happy birthday dear Rose! CakeWine. Your tea looked lovely and I hope you have a great day.

Yes, MI, kitchen nice. I liked the jelly baby line too. The ending not so much, that had better not be come-uppance.

motherinferior · 23/01/2017 08:12

I am thawing out after my Ladyjog! Right, must shower and do my Novel Hour ignoring DP.
