The interview was for Forrin Parts. And I have another one for More Forrin Parts as well.

Rosebag · 14/01/2017 11:21

Oh BD don't despair...there is plenty of time for things to get better. Happy Birthday from me, Cake Wine and lots love xx

Herbs Mixture of fear and huge frustration, I should think.
...have you sorted out POA? Flowers Nice dress by the way. I have never got anything from Cos for similar reasons to you...and I fear the dress, although at least waisted, would make my hips look huge on account of the gathers.

MrsS good luck with the job...is it very far away Forrin Parts? I can't imagine MU's without you...' Shock Good news re DD1 btw! Smile

Auriga glad you're ok....enjoy the singing weekend!

MI have a safe journey home!

I am working this morning...I feel very achey and stiff and woke up for no obvs reason at 3.30am for hours but resisted the temptation to go online. I must lose weight....it doesn't take much gain to make me feel achey and creaky like the old woman I am.

herbaceous · 14/01/2017 11:33

Rose - yes we have. Just need to 'enact' it. It seems there's no middle way between 'reminding' to pay bills, and totally take over all finances. When asked whether she wants us to do the latter she says 'no, I'm not a feeble old woman', but then doesn't pay her bills. GGGGNNNNN...

Blackduck · 14/01/2017 11:40

Large glass of fizz eased the pain somewhat...

herbaceous · 14/01/2017 11:44

Go BD. Fizz is pretty much always the answer.

herbaceous · 14/01/2017 11:45

Oh and re the gathering on the dress, it somehow manages to skim over the hips, and makes it look like any bulk belongs to the material rather than the arse. Clever.

bigTillyMint · 14/01/2017 11:55

Herbs, AFAIK, she could still have access to her finances if you have POA. But you will get more accurate advice on the caring for elderly parents thread or in the Elderly parents topic.
Like the dress.

Go BD - I am impressed at fizz before 12 and it's not even Christmas!

I agree, Rose - a MU without MrsS?Shock

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 14/01/2017 12:04

Depending on how forrin', we could go to her Grin

Happy birthday BD.

Life of no revision still carrying on. Sometimes I feel I'm 'enabling' him to sit around doing nothing. It's a very fine line and I've not walked it before..... not sure if there is a 'thing' of collusion with mental illness....

GiddyGiddyGoat · 14/01/2017 12:07

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BD! Have you stopped yelling and slamming now? Or was that dh / ds?!

Good news indeed re dd1 and university applications Mrs S. Good luck to her for the interviews - I didn't know people got interviews except for medicine these days. I'm torn between wishing you all the best for your own interviews and screaming "don't LEAVE us".

Auriga - enjoy your l8vely sounding weekend - not sure dh and I could happily share a single bed these days! Would be happy to experiment though should the need arise... also, you're quite right to be concerned about some of us - me included - being a bit lax re info posted. Feel bad if you feel that you have had to come of fb as a result - you could just defined the lot of us you know!

Herbs, sorry re Mum worries. You might have to decide for her that she needs you to take over iyswim- she might never get there on her own. Lovely lovely dress. I have it in black - super flattering in a counter intuitive way.

On way home from taking ds1 back to university. Always a bit bittersweet.

Good weekendstuff to all. X

Blackduck · 14/01/2017 13:27

GGG ds and dh who were supposed to be cooking me a lovely birthday breakfast..... It was anything but calm.....

bigTillyMint · 14/01/2017 13:32

You should have just asked DS to do it - he's a whizz in the kitchen, isn't he?

Things are calm here now as DH and DS have just left to watch the footy and DH has given DD a tenner to treat me to a cake and coffee this afternoon Smile I need it. Or a cocktail Wink

addle · 14/01/2017 14:42

Happy bday, BD! hope much much more enjoyable now.

May I see link to Cos dress pl? I've scrolled back and can't find it.

Off to see lala land with dd. Massively over rated apparently. Oh well! still an outing.

Safe travel, MI.

Fingers crossed Mrs S for best outcome for you (and us).

Rosebag · 14/01/2017 15:22

ponders the Cos dress after herbs and GGG's positive reports re flattering

I'm not sure about collusion...beachy Maybe some of it is about self preservation. There is only so much nagging and cajoling and threatening we can do, after all. I bet he knows more than you think. Since I had to sit with DD for all her revision, I did have to let myself off sometimes to preserve my mental health, never mind about hers! I felt guilty constantly though about not doing enough. And now I wish there had been less nagging and fighting and tears over it all as I'm not sure anything I did influenced the results.

Have just finished a very intense work session and have eaten lunch only now. DH and I are eschewing La La Land for Manchester by the Sea at our local Everyman later.

wordassociationfootball · 14/01/2017 15:27

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BD!!! Grin Wine

hattymattie · 14/01/2017 15:46

Well done to Mini Mrs S on Warwick offer. Brilliant News. Also fingers crossed for a good interview result. Intrigued by forrin parts.

Rose - I'm now pondering whether men's jeans might be the solution I'm
looking for.

Today's exciting news - the washing machine finally gave up. Have had to extract and wring DH's shirts by hand. Saturday afternoon has been spent sourcing a new machine in the type of shops I hate the most.

Auriga · 14/01/2017 18:19

Happy birthday BD CakeFlowersCake

Lalsy · 14/01/2017 18:20

That's great news about dd's offer MrsS. Fingers crossed it encourages her now! I was intrigued by what I read as forrin pants, even more so forrin parts.

Beachy, how is ds in himself?

Glad your day picked up, BD! Many happy ones.

We are going to see LaLa tomorrow - I suspect its timing was perfect as we near Trump Land and need escape.

Collymollypuff · 14/01/2017 19:03

Love that Cos dress, Herbs. Congrats to Schadenfraulein eins (well coined, Herbs).

MontserratCaballe · 14/01/2017 19:07

Happy birthday BD. Hope it has been a good one.

How are you doing, Molly?

Struggling with dry January here - day 12 for me and I am sick of tonic water and tea. Fantasising about a nice glass of 🍷. Distracting myself with a live streaming of Verdi requiem from Berlin Phil.

CointreauVersial · 14/01/2017 19:10

Happy Birthday, BD (or at least I hope it's happy by now).

Phew about offers, MrsS. Warwick is a great place.

Nice dress, Herbs - I have a similar style from (I think) Zara. This Finery dress is currently lurking in my shopping bag - I'm thinking it might be quite flattering, no?

Coincidence about the dishwasher, Herbs - we just ordered a Beko from John Lewis. Less than half the price of our hopeless Bosch, but has great reviews and a two year guarantee. I don't give a toss about fancy features; I just want it to wash the bloody dishes and not go wrong. As it was so cheap we've splashed out on the full installation service and removal of the old machine because, as regular readers know, this sort of activity at Chateau Cointreau usually leads to distress and marital disharmony.

Have just taken DD2 shopping for school shoes, as she walked about in the snow yesterday with the sole flapping off her right foot. Her feet measured so wide that Clark's didn't have anything to fit her. Shock She then dragged me to JD Sports for a pair of black Adidas trainers which she assured me were acceptable under the school uniform policy....I got home and checked....ahem, sorry love, no they're not, so they're going back (I can't believe I fell for the "everyone else wears them" line Angry). I also bought her some new bras which she was pleased to note are a bigger size than her sister's.

Cremolafoam · 14/01/2017 19:14

Off to LaLa on Monday with cinema friend. Yes. We need bloody light entertainment by the spade load as we draw nearer the moment of Trump. Heaven help us.

Happy birthday Birdy, BD, sorry I'm late to the pardee, but have been working. Not the worlds worst day at work thankfully. I am r day started so badly. I hope there was more sparkle, shopping, naice food, cake and or sex. HmmWink 🎈🎈🎈

Many congrats to Fraulein S and other offsprings with offers and good tidings to share.

I have a Cos coat which is triangle shaped and collarless and makes me look like a character from Bod.
Here comes Aunt Flo'.......
Doesn't stop me wanting that frock though.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 14/01/2017 19:14

Bargainous dress CV - and you've got the legs to carry it off! Please don't wear it over nasty looking trousers though as illustrated in one of the "serving suggestion" photos...

Rookie error re the trainers!

hattymattie · 14/01/2017 19:20

CV - here installation and removal.of the old machine is part of the service. My new machine arrives Friday. I'm hoping I have enough knickers to get through the week.

Monty - love Verdi Requiem.

Auriga · 14/01/2017 22:05

Arf @ forrin pants Grin

Blackduck · 14/01/2017 22:23

I have eaten(and drunk) well. No pressies (gazes longingly at patio/deck) ... ho him.... I'm sure come June I'll appreciate it....
