Thanks - sorry to be constantly doom&gloom.

CV, a spreadsheet sounds a great idea!

BD I will be around then, providing.

MrsS, my old boss always used to say that if you are feeling better, go out for a walk and then see how you feel - good advice, I think.
But maybe not out to do the shopping in Tesco's!

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 08/01/2017 16:06

BTM, here's to Plan A, B or C or whatever can move the situation on. Does ds have mocks this term or has he done them?

My mob have returned from their trip, eaten a good lunch and retired, dd1 back to uni and dd2 back to YouTube 😀

Ds is grinding to a halt, got into bed with about three layers on and is grunting at me every time I go into his room.... I'm trying to get the piles and piles of free flowing notes, handouts and text books into some semblance, but he keeps shooing me away. Quite what he will have in his bag tomorrow, god knows..... and he seems to be pushing nice girlfriend away too 😞

So two weeks of aaaaaargh starts here!

Blackduck · 08/01/2017 16:29

I am getting ready to go back to work tomorrow. I don't want to....

Beachy will keep fingers crossed for ds.... Likewise BTM.

MrsS how's DD doing?

Auriga · 08/01/2017 16:34

Keep losing my sodding posts.

Summary:

Still sick. Day 14. Grim. Angry
Grumpy & tearful too.
Sister also off sick, currently languishing on a trolley in a corridor somewhere, owing to NHS crisis Sad
Get well soon to all invalids & hope for better news to those worried about family members Flowers

bigTillyMint · 08/01/2017 17:15

Beachy, DS had mocks in November which he missed (well, did at home-ish) and has more mocks before Feb half-term which he will more than likely miss - not sure whether he will be well enough for GCSES at all, will just have to take it day-by-day. Do your DS's mocks start tomorrow? Will be thinking of him/you.

Oh no Auriga - you and Cremo get the prize for the ill-est Crepeys I reckon Flowers

Rosebag · 08/01/2017 17:29

I'm on for 11th Feb, Hatty, but don't think I can do any of the other dates, soz.

Sorry about the sickly Crepeys? MrsS Molly Auriga...and waf How are you? (apart from obviously Brian related sleep deprivation.)

Stropps you are the usual Star and make us all snigger in the process.

Glad the trip is still going well, MI Your relatives and friends sound fascinating.

Tilly I am sorry things are not on the up...but don't lose hope. Going out to forget about it all sound like a good plan from time to time. You need to look after yourself too. Flowers And Beachy...I can tell that mocks week is a horrid blot on the horizon. DS might know more than it seems, you never know. Flowers funnily, I don't seem to remember caring much about mocks back in the day when school was sometimes fun We used to call them "schmucks".....

Monty you are very sweet and kind to me and everyone. DH has suggested we have a day out on the actual day (which is a Monday) at the RA and a mooch around some exhibitions and then to the Swarovski shop to buy something nice. He says he's taking a day off work. So an improving picture and at least it's come from him.

A weekend of endings chez nous. DD has finished her monster run of shows and now has a week off. I was amazed at how many of the students were so obviously tearful...they just loved every second of it. And DS2 off back to Brum.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 08/01/2017 17:55

Hi All.
had a meh sort of day - dull jobs at home, mammoth supermarket shop followed by more dull jobs and not enough lolling - but am now slumped on the sofa with a lovely cup of tea and some crap tv.
One more week before ds1 goes back to University - I don't want him to go any quicker but the enormous pleasure of his being home has worn a leeetle thin this weekend! He and s2 have spent much of it bickering about food - who ate the pizza, who ate the last bagel... give me strength - there's a supermarket 5 minutes walk away and both are able bodied. Ds2 goes back to school this Tuesday (hooray) and gets important news re University application on Wednesday - and whatever the news is I think it will be a relief to us all as the waiting has felt loooong and haaaaard. I know and appreciate this is a small worry in the great scheme of things....

Yay to all the Crepey dates to look forward to - whoever is in charge of that spreadshit (as we used to call it at work) please put me down for the 24th Feb and 25th March - but I can't do 11th Feb - sorry to miss you Hatty.

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/01/2017 18:43

I walked to Tesco. Came home, made quiche (ham, pear and blue cheese, to use up the Neverending Ham and Stinking Cheese) and sausage and mash for an early dinner. Now have no energy at all and am going back to bed. Even my arms ache. Normal people would have chucked out the stinking cheese, or frozen it for future cheese sauce, and stuck the ham in sandwiches, wouldn't they, rather than making sodding pastry for an effing quiche.

Auriga - I hope you feel better soon - that's much too long to be sick.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 08/01/2017 19:00

oo many poorly Crepes - what's going on? You poor thing Auriga - and Mrs S you still sound far too ill to be rustling up quiches. How are you Crem? have I forgotten anyone else in the sick bay? If so Flowers to you too.

I bought myself a bottle of Floradix in the supermarket - there's something bracingly old fashioned and homely about it - just one dose and I feel better not really but I can hope

herbaceous · 08/01/2017 19:41

There really does seem to be a statistically unlikely number of crepes very ill. And no doubt Battling Through (I'm looking at you, Mrs S).

I too have had a 'meh' kind of day. Took DS to his friend's house this morning, then made the most of him not being around for a few hours by clearing out the understaffs cupboard, going to the dump, having a disappointing roast dinner in a pub, and doing some work. Yay. Go me.

I have also, however, been for a swim, which I think I might make a routine - a Sunday swim is rather pleasant. I'm trying to improve my front crawl technique. I can do length after length of breastroke, but just one of front crawl leaves me wrung out.

Starting teaching again tomorrow, and have the familiar feeling of 'WTF do I do?'...

Auriga · 08/01/2017 19:52

I have to 'facilitate' a training course in London tomorrow but have failed to take account of the Tube strike Blush

Blackduck · 08/01/2017 20:27

MrsS yes. Most other people would point at the fridge and the bread bin (or order Chinese as I did)

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/01/2017 20:29

I will admit that I am not very good at resting when I should, and if I had done less over the weekend (not that I have done much, beyond making pastry goods), I might be feeling a little more energised. I feel guilty, as if it would be much better for me to be doing something useful. (I have also fretted the day away at a spa for the same reason, which sort of defeated the objective of relaxing.)

Blackduck · 08/01/2017 20:35

Yes I'm not good at the relaxing thing, bout and spas are my idea of hell, but I'm better than you at just saying 'sod it'. - you all know where the kitchen is.....

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/01/2017 20:44

Yes, not entirely sure why I ended up having to cook this weekend. And had to get out of my sick bed to do it. Xmas Hmm

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/01/2017 20:45

Why do we still have Santa? Are we celebrating Orthodox Christmas too?

Blackduck · 08/01/2017 20:51

:)

CointreauVersial · 08/01/2017 21:10

I am extremely good at relaxing and doing nothing. Also known as a Being a Total Lazyarse.

OK, so I'm not really going to do a spreadsheet. WAF - you are only half right - I do love a bit of organising and creating order from chaos BUT I'm rubbish at planning social stuff and holidays. I'd rather someone did that for me. How about the tried and tested method? Have done a bried trawl of previous posts; I'm sure I've missed a few so please add/correct as necessary:

11th Feb - BRUNCH
Hatty
Rose
Lalsy
Rudy
MI
MrsS
BTM
CV (possibly!)

24th Feb - birthday DINNER
CV
GGG
WAF
MrsW
GGG
Herbs
Beachy
MI
MrsS
BTM

Shall we worry about 25th March nearer the time? Or my brain might explode.

MontserratCaballe · 08/01/2017 21:28

I can make 24th Feb dinner, hurray! Please could a kind person add me to the list. Alas I am supposed to be doing a 10k run on 11th - yeah, right - but will see if i can get out of it.

Have taken to my bed - Dd1 been beyond vile this weekend and I have had enough. She is not even 12 yet so I am sure there is plenty more to come.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 08/01/2017 21:43

Ds1 went out - ds2 took up the baton of being bloody rude and unpleasant and really ran with it - Angry. Just dh to fall out with now...

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 08/01/2017 21:55

Gotta love evenings like that, GG Grin especially on a Sunday....

Lalsy · 08/01/2017 23:05

Thanks, CV, for mega-trawl. That's right for me - I'm on for brunch and then probably the March meet.

Ailing crepeys, I am sure Sister would say stay in bed, do not try and facilitate, travel, cook or run things until you are better - even though when sick you probably do stuff three times as well as the next person, that doesn't mean you should.

And Crem and Herbs, I hope your dps are OK and you are looking after yourselves.....And BTM - you sound really down and no surprise, don't feel you have to be cheerful for us, we are here Flowers. Beachy, hope the mocks pass without major upset.

GGG, hope Kid Minor gets the news he wants - ds has friends who are waiting too, been a long haul this year I gather.

dh spent most of the weekend working and then snapped at me when I said oh dear about something three times in a row - apparently my anxiety is not expressed in an entertaining enough fashion Angry. He will get short shrift with any 3am propositions. ds also grumpy. Have sent both to bed to grump there.

Rose, glad dh has come up with A Plan.
