Ok, am a 40yo frump. Photo of me included.

Have booked in at hairdressers tomorrow for a pixi cut. Hair is currently past boobs. Really thick. I wear it tied back in a high pony tail all the time and need to do something as it's so boring.

So really cropped? A bit bouffant? Something in between? Or cancel the appt?

That is a lovely cut and really suits you! You look great!

mistermagpie · 22/12/2016 11:41

You look so much younger and more fashionable! I know people are funny about long-hair being more attractive than short but I have chin-length angled bob which I wear sleek or messy and get way way more compliments than I did when i had long hair. You just suit what you suit, and you definitely suit short hair!

Glasses-wise I have just bough two new pairs from FCUK at specsavers. They are pretty trendy but not over the top and not really wide like some of the plastic styles can be. Worth a look at least.

Deux · 22/12/2016 11:53

Looks fantastic. Xmas Smile

HolgerDanske · 22/12/2016 13:25

I'm so glad you did it! Mostly because it looks great but also because I think it's really important to make big, 'brave' choices once in a while - it can have far reaching effects in rejuvenating you as a person.

Congrats, it's a great look for you Smile

Sunbeam18 · 22/12/2016 15:40

Looks great! How did it turn out doing it yourself this morning?

Bluntness100 · 22/12/2016 15:49

I have to admit to being wrong too, you do suit it and it looks lovely, it also makes you look younger and fresher.

roarityroar · 22/12/2016 15:56

I was going to say don't do it.

But WOW you look amazing!!!! Seriously gorgeous. And about 25.

luckymucky · 23/12/2016 16:59

OP, I really didn't think you should cut your hair but it does look fab.
Must say though, your very first photo was pretty bad, you look completely different in your more recent short hair ones!
Brave move and has paid off 😄

with regards to new specs, have you ever tried contacts?

CaraAspen · 23/12/2016 17:01

Her first photo was not "pretty bad". How very rude.

CaraAspen · 23/12/2016 17:02

And what is wrong with the OP's spectacles? And why are some of you commenting. They are perfectly nice and cool.

Cocolepew · 23/12/2016 17:48

I love your glasses, very stylish and suit you perfectly.

NeedANewHaircut · 23/12/2016 17:53

No it's ok, first photo was pretty bad but as I said I was straight from the gym, no makeup, hadn't done anything to my hair that day and was a bit sweaty!

I can only wear contacts for very short periods of time and can't read with them in. I have astigmatism and soft lenses don't seem to work properly. I think you can buy more expensive lenses, never tried them.

Ooh I was searching for this thread for an update....

...Its MARVELLOUS! You look lovely. You've inspired me to go for it in the new year, too Grin

Ohyesiam · 23/12/2016 18:16

Wow you look goooooood.
Great cheek bones , great skin.

luckymucky · 23/12/2016 18:56

Sorry Op, I didn't mean to sound so rude. I didn't mean you looked 'pretty bad' in the photo, just that it didn't do you justice. You did have a little bit of a shocked expression 😬

I only mentioned the contact lenses as you had mentioned that you may look for new ones. I wear glasses but also contacts. I do like to go without glasses sometimes and wondered if it was something you had considered.

You look fab and I'm sure whatever you decide to do with your glasses in the future you will make the right decision.

littlepinkfizz · 23/12/2016 18:56

The usual rude faceless trolls of mumsnet strike again. Unbelievable 😡

luckymucky · 23/12/2016 19:00

Are you referring to my post littlepink?

jinglytinglypasta · 23/12/2016 19:19

A bad photo is not the same as saying someone looks bad.

The OP had already started discussing new glasses and ideas and said how much she valued the thoughts on this thread.

Back off, you faceless trolls. Luckymucky did nothing wrong Xmas Hmm

WhatTimeIsItCuckoo · 23/12/2016 19:26

Really like it OP, good for you! I speak as someone with very cropped hair - think Jean Seberg/Mia Farrow, even shorter. I've had it this way for nearing 30 years now and still get lots of nice comments even though I'm pushing 50! I honestly think a lot more people could go very short and look great, I think it's the extremity of it and/or opinions of others that make it seem scary. Saying that, I was 22 when I had mine cropped, I maybe wouldn't be so brave now at 49! Hope you continue to enjoy it Smile

luckymucky · 23/12/2016 19:27

Thanks jingly. My intention wasn't to offend. I think sometimes when we write rather than speak, the tone is lost and then the post can sound different to how you intended.

Merry Christmas, think it's time for a Baileys!

humanfemale · 23/12/2016 19:30

Yeah looks awesome. Well done, OP!

theaveragewife · 23/12/2016 19:31

I was going to say don't do it, but your new cut really suits you, lovely!
