Thread 1

Thread 2

For those who are taking a peek and wondering whether thread 1and 2 are worth reading we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients for our particular needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Xmas Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Xmas Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

If you want help, have read through the previous threads, but if you still have questions use the following form to make life easier on us. We generally answer up to two people a day on a first come first served basis. Not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

Hollin Which skinbase shade are you? Mine's 02. I'm definitely an NW in Mac too and avoid Bobbi Brown as they're too yellow so I must be looking at the MUFE shades wrong, will google again later.

02 Grin in skin base
Found this on Google

Ah ha! This is the article you need for colours

Funny, bo - I truly do understand the wish to find an end to one's woes. Being prepared to do anything... I guess I have the same with my health, so I'm used to doing my research and only then forming an opinion.

Thanks for the link. TBH I don't regard any SPF as being truly "waterproof", maybe just more water resistant than others, so I always reapply after 1.5 hours including on my poor long suffering kids Xmas Grin

AuroraPolaris · 06/01/2017 19:42

Oh forgot to say you read my mind re the concealer (must find an abreviation for this Xmas Wink sick of typing it up). My eyes looked so open and round and indeed the lashes were very pronounced. I also applied it on lids simply as there was so much of it in spite of having used the tiniest amount.

And Sisley can send me now one of those pretty blushes with the flower relief thank you very much

UntamedShrew · 06/01/2017 19:55

I've been sitting on my hands re that concealer which sounds amazing. The main reason I haven't bought it is I'm worried about choosing the wrong shade. Do you all have #2? Do you mind me asking what colouring you are? I'm blonde with green eyes, quite pale until I get my Chanel les bronzes on

And Hollin I know (at least think it was you) you've had issues with eye makeup removers, do any concealers set you off too with irritation?

hollinhurst84 · 06/01/2017 19:59

Untamed - weirdly not! I have v stupid eyes that refused to suddenly tolerate any contact lenses for 8 years Hmm
I can wear them now for a max of 6hrs now the lovely contact lens lady found some that work
I do subscribe to the conceal lower down thought though so I never conceal right under the eye

UntamedShrew · 06/01/2017 20:07

Ah I see - thank you for explaining. I get very flaky skin anywhere from under the eye right to my orbital bone if I use anything like touche eclat. Funnily enough I had contacts issues soon recently as I developed an allergy to the silicone in some brands. I've now got up to 8 hours again woohoo!

SheStoodInTheStorm · 06/01/2017 20:07

Bo your knowledge continues to astound me!

Hollin - very impressed you're a model! If only Mumsnet had pics to nosey at Wink

I have recently started using EL double wear. I needed a base that would actually stay on and provide the coverage I wanted. It does do both of those things but I do worry for my skin!

My skincare mainly lives in the bedroom except my cleansers.

Am thinking I need to switch from the BS balm to an oil maybe? What's DHC? I've used Una Brennan before.

Also any Recommendations for a mask type product?

SheStoodInTheStorm · 06/01/2017 20:11

I also want the Sisley! Currently using Nars.

botemp · 06/01/2017 20:15

Yes, after much debating Auror and I both ended up with #2. When you put it on you go, WTF??? This is totally the wrong colour it's peachy/pink/orange! Then you try to blend it out and go oooooh, then aaaah, and then OMG it's MAGIC! I'm not superpale though, shade #1 worked too but it was a bit more highlighty and less camouflage seamless blending.

It's silicone free but it does have some acrylates in there, also it's very moisturising it has some skincare benefits which I wouldn't rely on but I would say the caffeine in it is working as usually by this time of day I'd be a little bit puffy and I'm not.

I'm similar, Aurora, I'll look out and hope for miracles like Sisley concealers but am always prepared to take all claims with a grain of salt. Maybe it's the Dutch levelheadedness at play, who knows?

I'll totally fess up to stalking what else Sisley has to offer now, their bronzer is supposed to be great and comes in shades, goes on like a powder but settles into nothingness/slightly creamy (sounds a bit like my Surratt blush). Blushes are similar and they have a few blush/bronzer hybrids. There's a mascara that's supposed to be good, the So Intense which has a very odd thin brush. I'm wondering what their tinted moisturiser is like now. Most shocking discovery, the concealer has been launched since 2013! How have I not known about it before? I think we both started noticing late last summer.

DHC is a Japanese brand Storm, their cleansing oil is their best seller, they sell one like every second or something in that order. DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is the full name IIRC. I slightly prefer the Muji Sensitive skin cleansing oil but it's a bit more hassle to get (though slightly cheaper). How was the UB for you? And what sort of mask are you looking for, what do you want it to do?

Sisley better wake up and start sending us some products already

botemp · 06/01/2017 20:17

Meant to add, definitely try it out in store when not wearing anything else, it's best to see the effect on a bare face then forget base altogether.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 06/01/2017 20:21

Can someone kindly link to the Sisley concealer? I have the urge to be an enabled to make a frivolous Friday night purchase 💄

hollinhurst84 · 06/01/2017 20:25

botemp - I guess the peach neutralises any purple shadows? I have one that looks scary but works amazingly!

she - this is me, first pic my own makeup, second I had MUA

UntamedShrew · 06/01/2017 20:34

For Bunty:

And Hollin... wow! Beautiful.

botemp · 06/01/2017 20:40

The 10% off code was ANN10, don't know if it's still valid though.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 06/01/2017 20:49

Thank you so much! Smile

UntamedShrew · 06/01/2017 20:54

There might be a Sisley heading my way... bo you should be on commission
And now that is it until February! (Honest)

botemp · 06/01/2017 20:59

Oh dear, I do hope the shades work out for you all, I deliberated quite a bit in store before taking the plunge.

Yes I should be on commission as I'm kind of eager to try some new overpriced acid toner I discovered but it's only for the sake of curiosity that I want to try it so I can tell you all about it. Watch this space, pretty soon I'll be throwing tantrums over being snubbed by Tom Ford

SheStoodInTheStorm · 06/01/2017 21:03

I liked the UB, just got a bit messy! But I can put up with that. I like the BS as a cleanser, does the job, worried the shea isn't helping my skin?

I'd like a mask to help with dullness, hydration or congestion or even one that does very little but gives me an excuse to stay in the bathroom!

I need to find somewhere that sells Sisley!

Hollin you are stunning!

UntamedShrew · 06/01/2017 21:03

Haha! Took the plunge as if it doesn't work for me I can always pass on to a friend. They are used to my cosmetic cast offs...

botemp · 06/01/2017 21:14

If you can find this glamglow set in store it would be good. You can multimask with the supermud for congestion, youthmud for dullness, thirstymud for hydration and the other one to look like a space alien just google that one Grin. Alternatively this glamglow set without the alien, you'll also have to seek it out in store but it's a fab price.

Sheetmasks are nice, the Benton ones are nice starters and they're ridiculously cheap on Amazon.

Basically above are my cheap recent finds that I wish I could order but they refuse to ship outside of the UK Angry

Tata Harper resurfacing mask may also be nice, don't bother buying the jar just order the sample from Naturismo, I'm sure there will be a few other masks to buy on there too (just avoid the semi scrubby ones) and then just get a pack of cotton wool or lip balm to qualify for the order.

botemp · 06/01/2017 21:19

I just discovered the Sisley So Intense mascara has peptides in it... different one to the Chantecaille, Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1. It also comes in brown weren't we mentioning we were feeling a brown mascara Aurora? and this amazing deep blue that I'm strangely fascinated by. See attached pic and tell me if I'm insane or not to be gravitating towards blue mascara Confused

Gorgeous pics Hollin. Love your make up in the first one especially. Thank you for the mufe pic and link. Maybe R210 or R220 just looking at the pic although I keep eyeing that first Y shade.

Bo and Aurora If someone who was cool toned, very pale with blue/purple under eye bits, was to buy The Concealer. Which shade do you think would work? Hypothetically speaking obviously...

hollinhurst84 · 06/01/2017 21:21

Not crazy. Deep blue makes the whites of your eyes look whiter and brighter
