Thread 1

Thread 2

For those who are taking a peek and wondering whether thread 1and 2 are worth reading we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients for our particular needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Xmas Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Xmas Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

If you want help, have read through the previous threads, but if you still have questions use the following form to make life easier on us. We generally answer up to two people a day on a first come first served basis. Not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

This was the cauliflower recipe

www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/feb/14/nigel-slater-cauliflower-recipes

Can't remember how I did the naan??? I might have made the dough in my bread machine. I'll have a look tomorrow.

littlepinkfizz · 05/01/2017 21:28

Thanks aurora and bo. Will definitely try the silica. Do you just apply the contents of the capsule directly to the area? Will also investigate the weleda SkinFood.
You ladies are fab 😊

botemp · 05/01/2017 21:34

That wasn't it, although I've had that one earmarked for a while too. Thought it could have been this Ottolenghi tandoori recipe (using a paste that looks versatile for a few dishes) where it's roasted in wedges but I'm convinced it was in a bowl with quinoa and some form of nut (and maybe pomegranate seeds). Maybe it wasn't in the Guardian but Heidi Swanson on 101 cookbooks...

an extra 10% off at dB and NAP is finally down to 70%, just saying Wink

Ah ok. Didn't think it wasn't anything spectacular bo but I like 'em. Smile Probably as most masks break me out, (surprise, surprise.), so it's nice to find some that actually feel nice and perk things up a bit. Will keep purchasing.

Do they do the matcha green tea in a decaff version? Can't have caffeine.

EnidButton · 05/01/2017 21:40

*didn't think it was anything spectacular

AuroraPolaris · 05/01/2017 21:44

Yes I saw that recipe too the other day and had made a mental note, yummm!
On Boxing Day DH made an AMAZING Ottolenghi vine lead yogurt pie.

Pink the capsules are for swallowing. This is just gel in a bottle. You mix it with water as per the instructions on the box and apply 2-3 x day.

botemp · 05/01/2017 21:46

No, it's super high in caffeine and I don't think they can remove it.

It wasn't on 101 cookbooks but did rediscover Rainbow Cauliflower Rice Bowl which might work too as I have some avocados that are looking very ripe and also saw this Tuscan veggie bean stew with Cavalo Nero, Ribollita, that I've been meaning to make for a while and seems to be the perfect for this super cold weather. I'm thinking my cauliflower quinoa bowl may have been some mashup of several recipes in my head Confused.

Flaky nose back with a vengeance today btw. Hoping the Corsx will get here earlier than the 1st Feb.

AuroraPolaris · 05/01/2017 21:49

I'm interested in smoothie recipes but w/o vegetables (not allowed raw vegetables Xmas Hmm).
Green tea and something sounds great.
I used to just throw 1-2 apples and ginger in the liquidizer. That is also delicious. Don't know why I've stopped.

With all the holiday and kids and meeting up friends I already are pizza three times this week and my stomach is not liking it!!! Was pretty good pizza, some of it home made, but still.

AuroraPolaris · 05/01/2017 21:53

Oh and how could I forget - got my concealer today Xmas Wink

I saw the dB extra discount but didn't have time/ inclination... but NAP is tempting!

botemp · 05/01/2017 21:59

Can you have cucumber? I often do spinach, parsley, celery (which you could all omit I think), granny smith apples, ginger, cucumber, lemon, and then add in about a tsp of matcha green tea powder.

Whoever asked about the Naan, Chetna from GBBO now has her own youtube channel (very enjoyable with all the Indian food recipes), she did naans for which look very manageable and suitable for home use but she has a few of the other Indian breads (usually using wholemeal flour) like chapati and paratha's on her own channel I really like the look of the that incorporates leftover tadka dal. Her channel is a new discovery to me though, have yet to try making any of it.

I bought a by Malene Birger sweater on the way to catching my train back again. Bargain at €60, also got my Zara leather metallic skirt in and am suitably eyeing a metallic leather jacket there now

Aurora - pears juice really well. I often have pear, ginger, lime and apple and baby spinach

AuroraPolaris · 05/01/2017 22:05

No, no cucumber either. But just apple/ pear, ginger and macha could work I think.

Was also looking at her jumpers the other day. Which one did you get? I wore my new blazer today and it looked fab. Even DH noticed, and he doesn't usually notice new things Xmas WinkXmas Grin
I think I know which jacket you mean - in rose gold?

botemp · 05/01/2017 22:12

They have it in rose gold and a sort of gunmetal colour. The rose gold is a bit too shouty for my tastes but the gunmetal looks to suit me well. Am worried it looks a bit plasticky though despite being actual leather - same issue I had with the skirt and turns out not to be the case. Might see if they have it in Zara here tomorrow, though at €40 I'm not counting on much.

I got a beige turtleneck one, a bit oversized but in a good way. Had a bit of a browse in dB app during the train journey, did see a nice Vince cardie with the hood but it's still ridiculously priced and probably too dark for me. Then lost the signal and gave up.

Have given in and mixed some zineryt. Sad I have extreme dermatographia and need to learn to stop aggravating lumps and bumps when I get break outs because it looks a mess now. White as snow skin and bright scarlet red marks where spots have been. Ffs.

EnidButton · 05/01/2017 22:19

Pear and ginger is gorgeous. Had forgotten that. Forgot the ginger today again. 🙄

hollinhurst84 · 05/01/2017 22:39

Enid - fist bump. I have it too along with cholinergic urticaria

AuroraPolaris · 05/01/2017 22:41

Enid Xmas SadXmas SadXmas Sad

Yeah the rose gold is a bit much unless you are very young or have dark skin or for a party or smg. Hadn't seen the other colour.
Yeah most some of the stuff I like is still ridiculously priced, like an amazing Tom Ford evening gown on TO. Not that I'd have an occasion to wear it Xmas Grin

botemp · 05/01/2017 22:43

I have it too, you used to be able to write novels on my skin and read it back. It's been a lot less severe than it used to be, can't really pinpoint when it got less. I think refined carbs was the differentiating factor with that.

OP posts:
botemp · 05/01/2017 22:46

Those evening gowns always end up on the Outnet, deeply discounted until someone will finally buy it. Considering that most of the celebs never really pay for them and everyone else at those events usually wears pretty normal stuff it does leave one to wonder that who actually buys those things.

SheStoodInTheStorm · 05/01/2017 22:50

Can I ask where you all keep your skincare?

And am I allowed to ask about foundation?

botemp · 05/01/2017 22:55

In the bedroom. Ask away about foundation, we deviate on makeup and other things quite a bit and are still awaiting our Stila palette though I'm generally useless as I mostly wear Laura Mercier TM and on occasion GA Luminous Silk and have never gotten on well with foundation. Ever since getting the Sisley concealer I haven't worn base since...

OP posts:
AuroraPolaris · 05/01/2017 22:55

Well there are still people that buy haute couture, after all...

AuroraPolaris · 05/01/2017 22:58

I used to use YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat until they changed the formula and the colours. Lately got Chanel VLA and am very pleased.
On a daily basis though I use Clinique CC cream but most days just a bit of concealer.

botemp · 05/01/2017 22:59

Yes but they never wear that! At least that's what I've been told, most haute couture gets bought by museums, collectors, etc. for prosperity. There are a few rich (and usually very old) women who still buy for themselves but they're literally a dying breed. I don't think this age brings many occasions for haute couture either, I feel it's a bit of a missed opportunity as there is now so much technology available to allow for customisation yet we're still buying clothes off the peg in standard sizes.
