I've tried PawPaw cream, Clarins lip oil, vaseline, neutrogena stick thing and the flipping things are STILL dry. Is there anything that absolutely works for very dehydrated lips please? I can't use things like Carmex as I'm allergic to them. It's not a deficiency as my iron/thyroid are fine and I take multi vits and iron supplements from GP.
TIA

If you don't mind the thought of it then lanolin nipple cream is brilliant for dry lips.

missyB1 · 06/12/2016 20:04

I sympathise as I suffer from this too. Are they chapped as well? There used to be a cream called blisteze which was very good for cracked lips. I use Vaseline but it's not brilliant.

AwkwardSquad · 06/12/2016 20:07

Best stuff I've ever used is Nuxe Rêve de Miel lip balm. Brilliant as a cuticle treatment too.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 06/12/2016 20:08

When you're on roaccutane (the skin drying drug) they recommend acquaphor.

5000candlesinthewind · 06/12/2016 20:08

I read that anything with a lot of petroleum in won't let your lips absorb any moisture. I'd never thought about but it's true my lips do feel worse when I remember to put vaseline on.

idontlikealdi · 06/12/2016 20:08

Vaseline is shut all it does is sit on your lips.

Blistex intensive moisturiser is the best thing, it actually moisturises!

OlivesTree · 06/12/2016 20:08

Lansinoh nipple cream.

Bejazzled · 06/12/2016 20:09

Coconut oil at night before bed

Umirrific · 06/12/2016 20:10

I second the lanolin nipple cream. My son gets terribly chapped lips and it sorts him out within a day or two. I use a discontinued Neutrogena one which comes in a pot and is brilliant. I have to order it online from Spanish pharmacies!

FinallyHere · 06/12/2016 20:10

Did a first aid course, where they suggested that chapped lips is a sign of dehydration. Can you increase your fluid intake and see whether it makes any difference?

WellTidy · 06/12/2016 20:10

I gave very dry, cracked lips. Vaseline etc does nothing for them, they need something to heal them first. Blisteze ointment is really good, apply throughout the day. It can sting a bit to start with if the cracks are deep, or if the lip line is sore.

rubybleu · 06/12/2016 20:11

Blistex Relief Cream is my "when all else has failed" back-up. It used to be called Blisteze as missyB1 mentioned.

reallyanotherone · 06/12/2016 20:12

Burts bees.

5000 candles is right, the petroleum products can make things worse- in my family it does, i couldn't even use sudocrem on nappy rash.

Burts bees or neals yard products work best for us. Dc1 is particularly sensitive and burts bees lip balm is wonder stuff.

PenguinsandPebbles · 06/12/2016 20:13

Creme de la mer lip balm is the only thing that sorts out my lips but it's deathly expensive. I really struggle, if I don't use this regularly they bleed twice a year

Nipple balm is a good second best.

PhoenixJasmine · 06/12/2016 20:13

Second Nuxe Rêve de Miel, it' feels gorgeous, works fantastically and makes me feel like I'm indulging myself every time I use it. Lasts well too, I do feel it's good value for money despite being the most expensive lip balm I've ever bought, it's my HG now.

When mine are that dry, it is usually a sign that (a) I need to drink more water and (b) I need to put some hydrocortisone on them, very thinly but sometimes it is all that will shift it if I've let them get bad.

MrsMeeseeks · 06/12/2016 20:18

Lanolips, it's the absolute best. Buy one get one free in Boots right now!

DuggeeSchmuggee · 06/12/2016 20:21

Lanolips lanolips lanolips!! I had cracked lips for 2 years after my son was born. Lanolips cleared them up within 1 week. Amazing stuff!

chartreuse · 06/12/2016 20:22

La Roche Posay have an excellent lip balm. DS' lips were in a terrible state after a week at an adventure centre, a couple of days using this and they were back to normal. Highly recommended

SpangledBoots · 06/12/2016 20:22

The Nuxe is the BEST. The pot version.

8 hour cream would be a second choice.

Tronkmanton · 06/12/2016 20:28

Blistex relief cream twice a day at least.

Maudlinmaud · 06/12/2016 20:29

Clarins hydra quench lip balm. Ask for a sample they usually have them in, and as you already are a customer they won't mind.

BagelGoesWalking · 06/12/2016 20:30

http://www.purepotions.co.uk/collections/all/products/skin-salvation-intensive-lip-balm from Pure Potions

Or look on www.suneeta.co.uk at her lip balms. Haven't tried them but her other products are luscious.

dailymaillazyjournos · 06/12/2016 20:30

Wow. Thanks everyone! Don't know which to choose now :)
