Wow thank you so much Bo.

Really interesting. Especially about the red marks. I've never considered that as an option before. I've ordered the LRP SPF this morning. As I'm practically out of face wash I've ordered the LRP wash at the same time. That was an easy decision as the REN (you're right it is the evercalm) was never going to be repurchased and LRP seems to be well liked both online and on your other thread.

The nip +fab night cream is a the viper venom in a black pot. With both n+f items I honestly don't feel like they do anything good or anything bad. I'm very nonplussed about them so I won't be sad to see the back of them.

Also ordered those 2X serums you recommended. Are Those prices right???? They are insanely cheap so it would have been rude not to.

I think I whilst I'm getting stuck into those new items I'll leave a mask for the time being and lay off the alpha to let my face get used to new products. I will end up going back to LQ at some point though even if it's only a very occasional use as it makes my skin baby soft.

Thanks again for taking to time to offer this advice. I'll report back and let you know if I'm seeing any improvement!

Hello

I'm marking my place :-)

whyistherumgone · 30/11/2016 16:20

This thread has made me feel like I'm actually going to sort my skin out and be much happier with it!

whyistherumgone · 30/11/2016 16:24

I didn't realise Liz Earle had changed their formula btw, used to really get on with that - disappointing!

Pupsiecola · 30/11/2016 16:27

Does anyone know anything about Darphin? I love the one product I've tried. Will I find some up a snow-covered mountain in a French pharmacy whilst over xmas?

The only man in the world universe who could see her in perfect colour < Fixed that for you yongnian as you're clearly a Martian Grin. Actually I can look green too it's not that it's like a solid shade but a more pronounced tone that can make it appear so, a bit like those instagram filters. Were you the one of vague Asian descent? I have a suspicion this plays into it but have yet to find anyone who will confirm this to me.

goatkid, yes The Ordinary is really affordable but you do need to understand what you're buying (which is what prompted much of the initial thread as TO is new to the market).

Pupsie, I've never been massively impressed with Darphin. It's a pampering brand mostly but I tend to find it too expensive for what it is. French cosmetics sort of fall into three categories: the functional pharmacy brands, the mid end sensorial based like Darphin, Decleor, etc. with nice scents and textures, and then really high end effective (but more heritage based than sciency) like Biologique Recherche, Joelle Ciocco, Sisley etc. tied in with spas/salons that prescribe regimes and some go into really crazy prices.

yongnian · 30/11/2016 17:16

bo haha that is a possibility yes! And yes, mixed Asian descent. How do you see grey, out of interest?
I've just done my initial orders. Irritatingly, TO was out of stock on the azelaic and I was going to try their mattifying primer, to take me over the £25 for free delivery but also out of stock. Have got niacinamide, caffeine eye serum and their hydratey/moisturiser thingy coming. (Need a daytime one under SPF)
Got samples of PC BHA 1% coming.
Also ordered irritated skin balm from moogoo and their rosacea powder. Asked for samples of their body moisturiser too.
Aand I went for the stila colour corrector palette, so that's en route too.
Now just need to order bioderma SPF spray and some Japanese Olsen powders and I think I'll be alright....for a while!!! Grin
Will now spend far too much time considering how and in which order to sensibly introduce these products into my routine... instead of binge-producting them all at once

Pupsiecola · 30/11/2016 17:58

Thanks bo. Have to say, after another day/another kitchen drama pampering is very much what I could do with right now lol. Perhaps I will just stick to the one serum. I do so love it and so it's worth every penny to me.

My forehead is shiny. Does that mean I should put less product on it? Never thought of myself as oily on the T-Zone and I don't get spots, generally. I sometimes think it just looks super dewy lol. I also wonder if it's a result of the recent surgery.

I never actually apply products in specific areas. I'm a chuck it all over sort of a person. Black or white. Perhaps I need to consider more prescriptive application?

yong well done. And you need a spreadsheet ;-)

wiltingfast · 30/11/2016 18:01

cough< binger here yongian, went ok Grin apart from minor cheek soreness which is probably from the Una Brennan cleansing oil that I threw in there over the weekend Blush

For the apivita lovers, I got my shampoos from a Greek site for LESS than they were selling there here (Ireland) in M&S. here

Have 3 bottles of their thinning shampoo if anyone is interested, but be warned, it has unbelievably SLS in it.

goatkid · 30/11/2016 18:15

botemp I must admit I was tempted to buy all sorts at those prices. Had a stern word with myself and stuck to the 2 items you recommended as I know it will be counter productive.

I'm excited for these to arrive and to get started. It's been frustrating that although the spots have gone, my face looks just as bad thanks to the redness left behind by them. Thanks again for offering your advice, I hugely appreciate it.

Pupsiecola · 30/11/2016 18:33

Forgot who asked me but other eye products I use are LRP Toleriane and LRP Redermic. These were bought before the TO one though. I do try to use the Redermic every other evening and the TO in the morning. But I do remember someone (Bo?) saying eye creams in the evening cause them puffiness.

AuroraPolaris · 30/11/2016 19:28

I've only ever tried the Darphin Tangerine oil - it gave me spots so that was the end of my Darphin adventure Wink

Apivita have a really lovely eucalyptus cream which I apply on the kids' chest when they have s cold. It's doesn't "sting" so it's the only thing they'll let me rub on them.

EnidButton · 30/11/2016 19:46

Any hand cream or cuticle treatment recommendations? My fingers have gone really sore for some reason. Possibly washing hands too much.

Usually use Soap and Glory hand food which is really good but too perfumed for the bits where my skin has peeled off. Confused Also use flexitol cuticle balm on any hard bits but rarely really and burt's bees lemon cuticle butter every night but again it's a bit stingy atm.

So any ideas what I can slather on to get things back to normal? Usually the above keeps my hands looking and feeling really good.

yongnian · 30/11/2016 20:25

pupsie oh yes, I really do Grin your skin pic is looking good by the way!!
And hollin lovely pic of you too...
That apivita eucalyptus cream sounds good aurora must try that.

AuroraPolaris · 30/11/2016 20:58

Since we are discussing eye creams - this www.roseroseshop.com/mizon-snail-repair-ex-eye-cream.html is the one I'm using at the moment. The "normal" Mizon Snail Repair one has a silicone.

EnidButton · 30/11/2016 20:59

Actually just seen the thread in Chat where posters are sharing Handcream advice so I'll have a look there. Smile Although mine are nowhere near as bad as the posters on there, not even close. I'm wincing at their sore hands pics. Poor things. Sad

hollinhurst84 · 30/11/2016 21:10

I like the neutrogena hand cream, the Norwegian one. You can get it in unscented so not stingy
For when they're less sore I like innisfree hand cream, sinks in well and not greasy

yongnian · 30/11/2016 21:18

Ok, help, talk me down. I've gone bonkers, which I knew would happen and is why I've been sitting on my hands so long....impulse control gone....
I dug out my notes from the previous thread of stuff relevant to me and my skin type....I was looking at whamisa on cosnatural...so ordered a sheet mask..thinking the fermented ingredients would be good....I then discovered something called natura siberica, which has an ingredient that I was looking for years ago (but can't remember what for!!!) called Rhodiola Rosea...so obvs had to order some of that...then I realised I'd need a new concealer brush for the stila palette I ordered...so started looking at ecotools...so ordered one of those...then realised their double ended eyeshadow duo set was really good value..so ordered one...then found a Swedish salve with just a few really good ingredients...so ordered one...oh and there were two samples free so chucked them in obvs...gulp...I better have a lie down....oh wait, I am lying down....I am baaaaaaddddd....but hopefully my skin will be gooooooddddddd...eek.

SheStoodInTheStorm · 30/11/2016 21:32

Thanks bo. Have read through thread 1 again and slowly taking things in. I was never sciencey so getting my head around it!

Whenever someone has a mo to make any suggests it'd be much appreciated.

Skin type: reactive, red, combination

Approx age (range): 31

Primary skin concern: dullness and redness (and acne but that's another matter)

Routine:

AM. Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip or TH nourishing oil cleanser (neither are suitable j think)
Serozinc
Just started Zelens vitamin D treatment drops
Skin Owl eye gel
LRP cicaplast

PM
Body shop chamomile cleansing butter
Sunday Riley or TH cleanser
Have recently stopped using pixi glow/nil+fab pads due to earlier chat
Vitamin E mist from body shop
Skin owl eye gel
Zelens vitamin D
LRP cicaplast

Occasional treatments:
Oskia exfoliator
Body Shop warming clay mask
TH
May Lindstrom problem solver
May Lindstrom blue cocoon

Things I've tried in the past with disastrous results: REN, Liz Earle, liquid gold,

Things that are really working well for me now:
Cleansing balms

Any dietary/health concerns/pregnant:
I need to cut down/out sugar. Cows Milk upsets my stomach and my face so use almond milk if I have any at all.

What I'm willing to spend on a single skincare item: >£10, £10-20, £20-50, £50-100, no limits.
No limits.

I specifically [want help with/am looking for a product to/am curious about trying]... I think acids would be good to try but I am confused about them! And SPF. I burn easily so don't go in the sun and live in the UK. I do get acne but am getting good at covering it up. If there's anything that may help heal spots quicker/reduce the redness afterwards that would be good.

JDSTER · 30/11/2016 21:33

I've been following this thread and the previous one for a while. Thanks to the warm welcome of the regulars I'm now brave enough to pose my questions! I think some of the recommendations given to Badders123 (waves from Christmas threads) would be relevant for me too.

I'm in my early 40s, my skin concerns are open pores (genetic, I remember my mum having huge pores)and lack of firmness. I feel like my skin is sagging, ever so slightly. I have combo skin. Oily in t zone (I need to blot after a few hours) with sebaceous filaments maybe some blackheads as not always easy to remove. No lines or wrinkles due to oiliness.

I've been very bad of late as I'm easily seduced by the ' next best thing' and had a bit of a spree on NIOD, without any real assessment of my skin or what I needed (I have learnt a thing or two reading the threads!)

My routine is something like this
A.m Sanskrit saponins cleanser (quite like it non drying but weird smell) or Cerave hydrating cleanser. Copper amino (don't think it's done much) followed by multi molecular HA (like this but haven't tried any of the other deciem so cheaper may be as good). Followed by Olay regenerist spf30. In north of U.K and not outdoors that much.

Pm body shop camomile butter to cleanse, usually twice but I think I should be using something else? Could I use Cerave for second cleanse or LRP that's recommended on here?

I've got Paula's choice 2% BHA and use a few times a week. I bought that hoping it would help pores but don't see any difference but that's probably unrealistic.

I recently emailed Victoriahealth for a prescription for TO.
They recommended AM: Buffet + Niacinamide + Hyaluronic acid
PM: Buffet, Hyaluronic acid + Vitamin C Suspension

Ive got Cerave night time moisturiser or I use an oil. Am I right in thinking I couldn't use vit c at night with the Cerave? Is a facial oil ok after the other serums? I've got a sanctuary spa one that someone bought me.

What do you think? I did order TO (not HA as got NIOD one). I realise that the mantra of low and slow is absolutely not being adhered to by me at all Blush. So I suppose my questions are - is that too many serums, do they sound appropriate, are they likely to help pores and lack of firmness, what about sebaceous filaments (tried the technique of bha, followed by mask followed by oil cleanse and although skin looks a bit clearer, nose and chin still had black dots!) I've got a few masks I use, NIOD again and wouldn't repurchase as not that impressed. Mastic mud promised pore reduction (I'm a sucker). I'm not using a retinol but would worry about introducing something else! I suppose like everyone I'm looking for the holy grail of skincare.

Gosh, I think that's enough from me and if anyone answers I'll be very grateful

Rastel38 · 30/11/2016 21:34

I am feeling so confused about all this info, I am going to start again and take notes. In the meantime I would like to ask what your opinion of ZO skincare is? I've been using that for 6+ months and like it but it's expensive and I'm wondering if I have been taken in by all the hype about it being only available from a qualified specialist.

yongnian · 30/11/2016 22:42

Oh and I ordered a camomile konjac sponge....
Looking at Chaga mushroom stuff now....

whyistherumgone · 30/11/2016 22:51

I'm going to go back and read through the first thread I think. are there any other recommended sites so I can learn a bit more before
getting stuck into the likes of the ordinary etc?

BadlyDrawnBuoy · 30/11/2016 23:18

Great thread! I'd welcome some advice please to improve my routine:

Morning: hot cloth cleanse with cetaphil; apply Vichy aqaulia serum followed by dermalogica ultra moist, LRP sun block

Evening
Dermalogica pre-cleanse
Hot cloth with cetaphil
Superdrug simply pure hydrating serum
Dermalogica active moist

Every other night I apply tretinoin 0.5% after the serum, followed by moisturiser. My skin gets a bit flakey. I've tried nip & fab pads but I think they make it worse. Should I be using something else? Also, the LRP sunscreen is better in summer than winter so any alternative recommendations gratefully received!
