Grin

Finally.

I always thought I 'ought' to like their stuff.
I ventured in to one of their shops for the first time yesterday.
And yes, I do like their stuff Grin

Bought a top and would've bought a dress had it been available in my size.
Now tempted to get it online and have signed up to their newsletter, hoping for 10% or summat off as a welcome pressie, but sadly no

So now I am sitting on my hands and am furiously looking at eBay offerings

Just had to share.

Trying on, obviously.

Kr1stina · 29/11/2016 13:32

Congratulations on your new cos clothes < welcomes new Cos fan with passionate embrace >

I have that top in cobalt and it's lovely . Even on my 32FFs.

I agree that the style is all about the shoulders, so it works well for inverted triangles .

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 29/11/2016 13:49

I'm a G cup apple and I wear a size L in a lot of their tops and dresses. With a batwing or circle cut top your boobs seem to freakishly disappear in the folds.

I had such a beautiful petrol colour circle cut top last year. Took it off just to splash some bleach around my guest toilet on the way out to work one morning.

Tripped over the rug and splattered bleach all over it.

I wailed for days like a really big kid. Blush

I still mourn that top now truth be told. Sad

Dancergirl · 29/11/2016 13:59

I feel a trip into Covent Garden coming up soon!

I like the look of this top:

Dancergirl · 29/11/2016 13:59

Oh no Ineed Sad did you contact Cos to see if it was possible to replace it?

wizzywig · 29/11/2016 14:11

I recently stepped into my first cos store and the clothes look so much better in real life. Im a chunky monkey, 5ft 3 with a staypuft man tummy. Ive bought that jumper thats been posted but in dark orange. I layer their stuff with a long vest in a different colour as their stuff is quite boxy. I think i look tres chic.

Dancergirl · 29/11/2016 17:04

floisme what size did you get the jumper in? The green looks lovely.

MsUnderstanding · 29/11/2016 18:11

ineedmorelemonpleadge I brushed past a freshly painted hallway in my COS black coat a few years ago. I sobbed very quietly on the bus to work. I ended up using a razor to cut the painty bits out. I also have a smushed strawberry stain on a COS white t shirt made by a very delighted toddler who ran at me when I came home from work. I still wear the t shirt, stain 'n all.

AprilLady · 29/11/2016 18:14

Dancergirl, I bought that top last week, and have already worn it, it's lovely!

Agree that you really need to spend time in store and try things on, I'm a 12 top, 12/14 bottom, and have bought things in S and 38 mostly, but needed a 40 in this: www.cosstores.com/gb/Women/Dresses/Dress_with_cocoon_skirt/46881-51334941.1#c-24480 as it's so tight across the bust.

Floisme · 29/11/2016 18:21

Dancer I'm normally a size 8-10 went for Xsmall as it's a slightly boxy shape and because of what I'd read on here about the cuts being generous. It fits perfectly. (I'll be washing it very, very carefully!)

Dancergirl · 29/11/2016 18:23

I'm a 10-12 so I should try a Small?

weepingwillows · 29/11/2016 18:31

Bah I ordered the oversized cardigan which looked OK on the model but ridiculously bad on me. Like a tent and made me look super fat. In theory I like their stuff but never seem to get lucky. always some little detail I don't quite like. The stuff I do like is never in pure natural material which I tend to go for. Cardigan packed and ready to go back. Waste of 6 quid postage. Will never do that again. Only going to order from sites with free postage from now on!

Floisme · 29/11/2016 18:31

Yeah that sounds about right.

Floisme · 29/11/2016 18:34

Sorry cross post. 'Yeah that sounds about right' was to Dancer.

Agree with you weeping that ordering from their website feels a bit hazardous - and not cheap. They really do need to keep opening more stores across the UK.

Dulcimena · 29/11/2016 18:50

Right now Cos has free postage until I think Dec 22nd... in case that's of interest to anyone :)

PacificDogwod · 29/11/2016 19:18

Ooooh, free postage, you say?
I still like that dress....

Yes, S for 10-12 is a good starting point.

I think as a novice Cos shopper, I would not be confident ordering online as the shape/cut/drape of their stuff seems so much more important than whatever random size label has been stuck in the back IYSWIM.

Ooooh, free postage, you say?

I'm tempted too. But I am also contemplating a trip to Covent Garden tomorrow, be a nice day out won't it? Lovely shops on Long Acre including Cos. But I should be writing reports..... Hmm

CountFosco · 02/12/2016 00:33

Bugger, I ordered all that stuff before the free postage Sad. I may have to order more to take advantage...

So it arrived. I'd ordered the jumper with the frill sleeves and Flo's jumper, both in green. The frill sleeve jumper made me feel like a dragon so it's going straight back. Now trying to decide which size I should keep for the boxy jumper. The small was clearly the best size for the frill jumper but I can't decide if I like the boxy jumper neater (S) or boxier (M). But I want to wear it to work tomorrow so I have to decide. Been drinking cocktails though so not in the best position to decide now.

Floisme · 02/12/2016 09:27

Ooh what did you decide Count? Grin I went for a neater fit but it was mostly to do with length - my waist is quite high so slightly cropped is more flattering on me.

CountFosco · 02/12/2016 22:22

Went for the neater fit, when I looked at it (sober) from the side the M was sticking out at the front due to too much material so the S it was. I do love it and will definitely buy again, the knitwear is gorgeous and beautifully made (currently eying up some of the navy jumpers that may well end up in my wardrobe come January). Wore it to work with my new grey jeans (bought in the Hush 25% off sale for Black Friday) and purple docs and loved it Grin. My officemates mainly laughed at my hangover though despite promising to admire my new clothes Sad.

PacificDogwod · 02/12/2016 22:27

The frill sleeve jumper made me feel like a dragon

Grin

That makes me like it more....

CountFosco · 04/12/2016 07:58

Even better, I'd bought DH some trousers (also fab quality) but being a bit dozy he tried on the dragon jumper thinking it was intended for him (nice green merino jumper). He didn't realise about the wings until he looked in the mirror when he (for the first time in his life) said 'WTF?'

ScarletForYa · 04/12/2016 08:04

Looks like Tilda Swinton would have a field day in there.

Floisme · 04/12/2016 12:31

I'd love to think so - she's one of my style crushes.

PacificDogwod · 04/12/2016 12:34

Oh gawd, yes, Tilda!

I bet she'd rock my top! Grin
