Hope that's an OK unilateral decision!

Thanks - I'm holding off on pills for the moment, but there's always the possibility! Two cups of coffee today seem to be doing the business atm.

NU, good luck - perfect excuse for doing nothing much over Christmas Wink

Cocoa, hope the GP is better at MH than down-there problems! And I think MI's suggestion is a good 'un.

Re tubing mascara, I found it strangely uncomfortable and weird to remove. But maybe I should give it another go. I am currently smothering my eyes in Vaseline as much as poss and they feel a lot less dry (tis the skin that's dry and itchy rather than the eyes themselves) but I don't think it does much for keeping mascara in place!

IDismyname · 08/11/2016 17:40

Yes, I may give Macmillan a go - thanks MI for suggestion.

BTM - try taking a supplement called 5HTP - its the pre cursor to seratonin that the body makes. I take it about 2 hours before bed. It doesn't knock you out and make you feel drugged the next day - its quite good, but gentle, stuff. I use it about once a week, as I think my system got used to it.

Not sure if you're on any other meds, but check beforehand blah blah blah...!

motherinferior · 08/11/2016 17:44

I have got very little OK virtually nothing done all day. It isn't helped that I am waiting to hear about two (2,ii) separate chunks of work that I'm in the running for...

bigTillyMint · 08/11/2016 17:58

Cocoa, thanks for that - will look out for it tomorrow hopefully - as none of us are sleeping well, and it seems to be natural rather than chemical, it's worth a try!

And on the subject of ailments, does anyone suffer from allergic rhinitis? I think it might be what causes me to feel itchy in my nose, mouth and eyes, probably due to dust mites, I guess Angry

Collymollypuff · 08/11/2016 19:02

I've had that diagnosis, BTM, but - touch wood - I seem to have got over it. I have no idea which of the millions of remedies I tried actually did the job. I'll have a think.

I'm off to the Ivy - they opened a branch in W Village in the summer. I've made my hair swishy and am in my dark blue velvet pleated midi-skirt.

Lalsy · 08/11/2016 19:04

Yes, I do BTM. Gallons, floods and then rivers of snot. Sometimes merely in response to a temp change. Absolutely ridiculous.

All supplements and everything else are chemicals - Boots says you should consult your doc before taking 5-HTPif on any other type of medication, as Cocoa says. Great you have found something that works for you, Cocoa - insomnia is ghastly the way it hits just when you most need strength and sleep. Hope you sleep better tonight, BTM and no incidents.

Apart from the election....oh god....

Lalsy · 08/11/2016 19:20

I know. LOVED the news from the tiny town this morning that votes in five minutes tho - even though Clinton's lead was smaller than predicted.

Rosebag · 08/11/2016 19:28

Tilly I had so many problems with a constantly dripping nose which then dried up after weeks and weeks, into being permanently blocked up. Until it loosened again and started dripping. It affected my ears, gave me a chronic cough...everything.

I eventually wangled a referral to a chest physician with a specialism in allergy. He did loads of allergy testing which wasn't especially revealing in itself, inasmuch as hay fever showed up but nothing else. What he did do, though was to change my nasal spray to a prescription only one (Nasonex) and told me to take it from April to the end of September. I have been a lot better since!

I don't have many recommendations for insomnia. I just know that even more debilitating than sleep deprivation, is the effect of worrying about it....It seems to make sleep all the more elusive. Flowers

Cremolafoam · 08/11/2016 19:41

I've got the drippy nose thing too. Never knowingly far from a box of tissues. Dust is my issue. Not helpful living in a house with a coal fire then......

Ooh get you Molly schmolly. The Ivy indeed. Full report please, morsel by morsel. I am looking forward to Pro Master Chef tonight .

BTM, I'm so very sorry to hear you have had a wretched time. It's so hard. I hope ds is safe and calm now and you can think about an early bed time tonight.

Absolutely dreading waking up to a Vile New World tomorrow. FCUKShockShockShock

Rudy you are aStar-let Thankyou for the Elfin linky.

Apparently I was talking in my sleep last night about 'gorgeous elfy faces and soft coats.' No clue.
Dh thinks I've finally cracked.

addle · 08/11/2016 19:43

Agree, Rose, about the debilitating effect of worrying about insomnia. I try to get back to sleep but then read on my ipad and if no luck by 6, put the radio on (which gives me 15 whole mins before I get up).

NU, sounds like nervewracking but good news about knee?

Molly, have lovely time at the ivy. Dark blue velvet midi skirt sounds great.

Wore my Johnny B leopard print ankle boots today. V comfy but suspect they are still wearing me. Although, Cocoa, I am also swishy and languid.

Life peaceful here though nothing solved.

herbaceous · 08/11/2016 19:50

Whoa there dobbin.

Did someone say PRO MASTERCHEF? Only my favourite type of Masterchef. And very soothing in our last hours pre-Trumpageddon.

I too have a randomly sneezing and running nose. Usually when I go outside, or come inside. Or lie down. I use a nasal spray every night, which I know one isn't supposed to do, but without it my nose bungs up and I have to breathe through my mouth.

Slept like a baby last night, unlike the night before. I'm putting it down to extra blanky on the bed, as our bedroom v cold.

bigTillyMint · 08/11/2016 19:51

Aargh - so many of us with the same problem. You would think that someone, somewhere would develop something that works Confused

Today has been calm after the storm. Phew. And yes to early bed!

Am just watching the Damilola prog that was on last night. Heart wrenching Sad

bigTillyMint · 08/11/2016 19:53

Yes Herbs, lying down too. What's that all about? I though it was just that the bedroom is dusty, but I'm sure our cleaner wouldn't be happy with that!

Auriga · 08/11/2016 20:03

Vv sad today. Wretched. Cried my eyes to little slits. Feel drained but relieved. Sometimes you've just got to.

Sympathies to all who are carrying a heavy load.

Cremolafoam · 08/11/2016 20:06

Mm steak Diane.....
Dh says :where are the potatoes?

BlushCakeBlush

Cremolafoam · 08/11/2016 20:12

Sad Auriga, so sorry. Flowers

Yes, yes to lying down. Also get affected by strip lighting in supermarkets. After 30 minutes I am streaming. It may not be the lighting, don't know. But I get so bunged up in Sainsbos,( other supermarkets are available)
Waf how did you get on at the meeting?
MM i am v jealous of the prospect of Xmas abroadEnvy

Lalsy · 08/11/2016 20:27

Auriga, Flowers. Has that been building up?

BTM, sorry misread, I get both (all?) types of rhinitis but the allergic responses involve eyes, chest etc whereas the non-allergic (eg to temp) are rivers of snot. My sister is even worse. Childhood Christmasses were a delight what with visiting relatives in dusty houses and coming out into cold air.

wordassociationfootball · 08/11/2016 20:49

Oh Auriga FlowersFlowersFlowers

Crem - 'soft elfy faces' what an adorable dream Grin

BTM wish you a great sleep but agree its good to stay lightly unattached to sleep outcome as it can build anxiety to think about it. Sorry not making huge amount of sense. Had some ideas between station and meet and during meet. Was lovely brainstorming sesh for new work proj. Beachy so lovely of you to offer the might of the marvellous crepey Brains Trust (we really are mighty) on way back from Brighton now after drink in pub with big Jesus (v long toes) and neon colour changing lights. I didn't want to leave, the lights were so lovely. Didn't care much for them in pink and blue but most of the other iterations were dreamy.

wordassociationfootball · 08/11/2016 20:52

I wasn't actually with Jesus, I was with a writer mate.

Addle - do you have a blue light filter on your iPad? If not it will be contribbing to your wakeyness fo sho.

bigTillyMint · 08/11/2016 20:56

Oh Auriga Flowers A good cry does you good sometime, even though you may be left feeling exhausted.

It's not snot exactly, but sneezing and a clear running nose, no matter how much I blow it.
And re sleep, I'm not worrying about me not sleeping, more so the others. But DD hasn't slept well for a few years - keeps going, but it reaches crisis points at times.

WAF Brighton is a creative place, especially in a pub with a long-toed Jesus snd changing colour lights!

MrsFilthPacket · 08/11/2016 21:03

I can't decide which is funnier: soft elfy faces or big Jesus with very long toes. Grin

I think Trump will get in (and I was right on Brexit). If he does, this will add even more to my workload (Brexit has been devil enough). I hope I am wrong though. My colleagues across the pond are shitting themselves in case he does.

Tonight, I am not out, have made the Meal of Last Resort and have wine.

I think we are going to have to make a duty visit to Warsaw before Christmas...

Cremolafoam · 08/11/2016 21:16

Grin in my defence I think I was imagining the Reindeer next door crossed with my Pinterest board of English Cream Mini dachshunds. At least I think it might have been. Dh is making me feel like I have admitted to fancying a Hobbit ffs.Grin

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 08/11/2016 21:19

Oh Auriga, for you. Sometimes sobbing it out is just the best thing to do, but it's very exhausting. I hope tomorrow feels lighter.

I've done very little today, apart from a trip to the osteopath (who I haven't seen since May). Apparently, my hobbly foot, caused by DevilDog pulling me down a tractor rut in June, may be broken. Well, best to find out four months late, I suppose! Off for X ray later this week.....not sure they do much about broken feet bones anyway.....

Ds has a language oral tomorrow. He's sitting opposite me, learning set phrases, so I've missed Masterchef Sad....dh is in charge of putting dd2 to bed, so obviously there is the inevitable noise and shouting.

I'm off to London to hang with a crazy friend tomorrow. She's from Rudy's neck of the woods, so we are Boris Biking, shopping, maybe gallery-ing. Any strange and interesting ideas are welcome.

Lalsy · 08/11/2016 21:23

GrinGrin Crem.

And at your lovely post WAF, tho shame about Jesus.

Election sounds very close, oh hell. I hate it when it all comes down to voter turnout as everyone should bloody well vote. And Hatty, yes about M and S but have you seen the thread quoting the Telegraph saying John Lewis is replacing part of its haberdashery dept with bikini waxing/prosecco bar set up, for people who consider both shopping and bikini waxing enjoyable leisure activities? The bottom fell out of my world.
