Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish reaction

Experienced cystic spots (big and painful) mostly along jawline that have left scars. Was okay with C&P for a couple of months until possibly opening a new tube.

Wondered if it maybe after prolonged use cream cleansers are simply too rich for my skin.

Anyone else come across the same? Was it down to the Liz Earle brand (I hear formulae has changed) and have you found an alternative that works?

Not as bad as you but yes
I was fine til I started a new bottle of one of the exclusives (I can't remember now which one)
I haven't used my since
It burned Sad

Itrynotto · 29/10/2016 16:01

Apparently they have fiddled with the recipe recently. There was also a dodgy batch so I would email them and ask.

Maverick66 · 29/10/2016 16:07

I have similar experience.
I developed a spot like rash around my chin and nose.
I can't get it to clear up despite being to Dr and getting cream.Confused

TeeK · 29/10/2016 16:08

It's a shame. I was a convert for the time it worked. Not sure I want to use the rest of the range I have managed to accumulate.

Superdrug's HCC any good?

I had the same but it was immediate for me. I have since used Superdrug's Radiant hot cloth cleanser (in the green tube) for about two years and will be very upset if the ever discontinue it, it's great. It's also dirt cheap and always on offer.

Badders123 · 29/10/2016 16:29

I now use ultrabland by lush

TeeK · 29/10/2016 16:38

Thanks Crayfish. Might pick up a tube. I do like the overall radiance you receive from HCC.

Did you have a problem with the rest of the Liz Earle brand?

Madbengalmum · 29/10/2016 16:40

I can confirm that since Boots purchased Liz earle the recipe has been fiddled with considerably. There have been several recipes, mostly unsuccessful. Imho, not good at all, for the new product it has changed beyond all doubt now.

Badders123 · 29/10/2016 16:42

Really?
I had no idea!
I'm really annoyed about that! 😡

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/10/2016 16:42

Did Boots buy LE from Avon?

It was lovely years ago then they changed it and I reacted, far too harsh these days.

Madbengalmum · 29/10/2016 16:43

To add, the change has come due to an original ingredient no longer being able to be used under eu regulations! Hence new formula, which is now crap.

crayfish · 29/10/2016 16:45

I've never tried anything else from Liz Earle as I had such a bad reaction. I love HCC though and would never go back. I like the No7 hot cloth cleanser too but the Superdrug is cheaper.

Madbengalmum · 29/10/2016 16:45

No Dame, they bought from liz herself, and she has had some input to new formula, along with others. The outcome is not widely liked by the product testers, who were liz earle fans.

Badders123 · 29/10/2016 16:46

I'm going to bloody e mail them!

orangebird69 · 29/10/2016 16:47

HCC is fantastic, especially considering the price. TBS Camomile balm is lovely too.

Madbengalmum · 29/10/2016 16:47

Baddres, shit isnt it? I dont think they will give you any info though.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/10/2016 16:48

But she sold to Avon a few years agoConfused

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/10/2016 16:49

Camomile balm is lovely. The Superdrug dupe of C and P is nice too.

Madbengalmum · 29/10/2016 16:50

Well she was sat in front of me a few months ago. She still owns a share of it, her daughter does too.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/10/2016 16:51

So what did she sell to Avon? I'm intrigued now!

Madbengalmum · 29/10/2016 16:53

Like alot of business owners, they keep a stake in the business in a consultative role. It means they can have input into how their 'baby', and name is treated.

www.redonline.co.uk/red-women/interviews/liz-earle

Yes, 3 years ago

Madbengalmum · 29/10/2016 16:58

This year the deal was done with boots. She had alot of input, as does daughter.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/10/2016 17:00

I understand that but how did the deal with Avon tie into that? She'd already sold to Avon for millions and now Boots?

Madbengalmum · 29/10/2016 17:03

She continues to retain her share and is still consulting too. Pretty similar deal different company, boots buy their share from avon, she comes along too.
