Those riding boots of Kate's

So I've coveted those Penelope Chilvers boots Kate M wears for ages. Is there a good quality alternative I can look at as I assume they are wildly overpriced due to the publicity?

Looking for a flat, comfortable knee high boot in brown (doesn't have to be very dark, but not tan). Which will look nice in the pub but also out and about walking in muddy puddles....

Dublin boots are nice and they're cheaper than Penelope chilvers whilst still being quite robust.
I love mine but you can't really see them because of the thick mud coating... I should probably clean them :/

They look like classic Spanish riding boots. These look pretty much identical and I'm wondering how accidental the name is. They make brilliant boots though, had a pair that lasted for years and years despite being worn to death and aged really well. Unfortunately hard to get outside of Spain these days except through their website and shipping is relatively high but all together still comes in cheaper I assume.

I saw these in an equine shop yesterday and they were beautifully soft. Similar to Kate's.

You're welcome IBelieve, I really rate them and if you take the shipping costs out of the equation they are really affordable for the high quality.

I doubt it'll be the case with the Penelope Chivers ones as the soles are slightly different but I've often seen the Valverde boots sold under different brand names including some designer ones at highly inflated prices and I know they manufacture original designs for others as well.

Good to know botemp I have been on the lookout for a particular style of boot for some time and they have them, so am really delighted.

Apparently All Saints purses are manufactured by the same company that makes Mulberry (and some other famous handbag brand) or so the assistant told me the other day. They are lovely anyway. )Sorry, just a brain dump I remembered there when mentioning producing stuff for other companies)

made to measure in SPain decent if not top quality and reasonable prices. They come up a bit large but I bought some from them last year and wasn't disappointed. About 10 days delivery.

Inspired by this thread I was having a nose for myself tonight and actually these are identical with the profiled sole and I'm now pretty convinced they make them for PC in custom colours as their website even indicates they're made in Spain. By the looks of the rest of the PC website they're pretty much all versions of the Valverde boots in different colours so it's all too familiar to be a coincidence, shame about the triple markup though.

This mark up margin really bugs me. A profit, naturally, but tripling it? Shameless profiteering.

Valde]verde were very good indeed on customer service, but their English is not very fluent.

What bugs me beyond the extortionate mark up for identical products is PC marketing it as their original designs to justify those prices, changing colours isn't designing in my book. I think the Valverde boots are great at the price they sell them at but I'd feel short changed paying the PC prices for them.

Spanish riding boots! I have just replaced my 14 year old pair, so comfy and worn daily. They do size on the large side and actually not that expensive when you consider how long they will last and i was not carefull with my old ones!

botemp - have you actually ordered from Valverde before? Just trying to figure out which size to order since sending them back would be such a hassle! I'm sort of a half size, something between a 40-41. Problem is I have quite skinny calves so usually a size 41 drowns my legs (albeit these will be worn mainly with jeans under!).

I'd get the 40 as they're quite generous especially in the calve area I think because they're technically unisex. I bought a different model though coming in slightly under the knee, not quite mid or knee length. I bought mine in a shop so unfortunately no experience but OCSockOrphanage may know more. Let us know when you get them, I'm thinking of ordering a similar pair but also tutting about size as my feet have shrunk a bit.

I have a pair that are well over ten years old, they are similar to the Bota Kate but have the embossed leather of the Hipica-40 Maxima. On the box it says model 103, number 40 (size), Ternera Engrasada, Empalmillado.
I am a size seven and find that I have to wear two pairs of socks as there is a lot of room in the 'foot' and I need the length. However, there is never any problem tucking jeans into them.

I may have bought mine from an English supplier (not PChilvers) as the tub of wax reads: SRB Valverde, Box 83, Kings Langley, Herts WD4 8RE
along with telephone numbers and fax numbers :o and a UK website.

When I bought the boots (I have a style from their urban range) last year, I had a wobble over size because, like you, I am between sizes. I emailed asking about a change and got a message back suggesting to stick with the smaller size as they recognise their last runs quite big. I think you should be fine with the 40.

Regarding calf size, IIRC somewhere on the website there's an option to have them made to your measurements. Mine are snugly fitted on my (chunky) calves; I couldn't tuck trousers or jeans in, maybe leggings.

They're on order, ladies! I'll let you know what they're like. Went for the 40 in the end after the comments about them being biggish. Fingers crossed!

I've been following this thread and I also have ordered those Kate boots. I'm a size 6 and I have ordered size 39, finger cross, I cannot wait for the boots to arrived, the problem is now I want another long black boots I have seeing in their website😄

My boots have arrived today. They are truly beautiful and the quality its amazing, the only negative thing it the boots are made for very narrow calves and when my foot fits perfectly (I ordered a size 39, my uk size is 6) I struggle to zip up to the top. I won't be returned the boots as I hope the leather will stretch a bit
