Stropps, please don't stop unless it doesn't help or feels wrong. You don't need to spin for us or feel bad about anything you say. No-one else has walked in your shoes and we can only imagine the toll this has all taken - it isn't surprising you feel ground down and negative in the face of such behaviour. Look after yourself.

Crem, much crepey strength.

Lalsy · 09/10/2016 22:42

In the completely trivial corner, did the Veet strips hurt CV? I am a complete wimp.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 09/10/2016 22:48

If you are a complete wimp use Veet or similar hair removal cream for 'facial hair'. Totally painless, unless you leave it on too long in which case you'll have a red upper lip for about 2 days and everyone will ask you what on earth has happened to you....

Lalsy · 09/10/2016 23:17

Thanks, all.

CointreauVersial · 09/10/2016 23:38

No, really didn't hurt in the slightest, Lalsy.

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/10/2016 02:26

DH has gone out to watch the Presidential debate in a local bar. I'm watching it with a friend. Have been with DH 24/7 for the best part of two weeks, and tbh it's getting slightly wearing. It took him the best part of two hours today to buy a pair of jeans. I went off and did some shopping and he was still dithering.

Cremo much strength

Stropps wot everyone else has said - please don't go if it helps to splurge on here...

I have forgotten what it is like to have a young newbie dog - Beachy I may need tips!!

I have also never had a dog that actually inhales his food (my old dog really could take it or leave it....) Ds getting a bit upset because he is more feisty than our old mutt and is testing boundaries and 'playing'. Sure it all will be fine. He's very thin though....

Rudy - so it makes a ring of food? Might try that....

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 10/10/2016 10:53

So exciting......you could try one of these weird dog feeder, which we've used in classes.

He will want to gobble a lot at the beginning, probably as he's been wary of other dogs nicking his food in rescue. After a few days, you can start holding food back and use it for training, if he's that food oriented. We also used to remove idiot dogs food in the middle of breakfast, just so he knew we could and to avoid guarding behaviour.

Other tips, (as if I know) are to make sure you give him a full body touch each day. Feel each paw if you can and progress so that you can look in his mouth etc. Most rescues haven't been touched much, so it's just building up to him trusting you to let him do that. Make's vets and grooming a lot easier.

He''ll be so knackered after that journey, I bet his whole routine is stuffed. Lots of little meals and lots of quiet time, if you can.

Got to dash for ds eye exam......

Blackduck · 10/10/2016 11:05

Beachy that dog feeder is well weird....

We are being strict about sit before you get your bowl and all that. And picking bowl up when it's empty. He's not too territorial I don't think, but will work on the picking bowl up.

He gets on his hind legs a lot (and he's a tall dog!) so this is something else we need to work on.

At the minute he's my shadow (I have been feeding him - will make sure ds and dp do too so he doesn't associate me with food). He's crashed out at my feet at the minute, sighing occasionally. Clearly lots of new smells and sounds and yes, a new routine.

Cremolafoam · 10/10/2016 13:00

Ooh BD I am so pleased for you. He'll learn fast I reckon when he works out his ranking in the 'pack'.
No doubt he is greedy because if being deprived as a puppy, poor critter.

Am at airport with DM , Who move so fast I've lost her twice. Also I have to repeat everything as she doesn't hear very well ( much worse that I thoughtSad) poor mum. I am going to have to shout all week.
Have got in touch this morning with a charity that benefits refugees from Syria who will take the kitchen contents, so am pleased about that. Smile

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/10/2016 15:00

Hoorah for Happy Flash! I do love a happy rescue animal ending.

I am still in bed and feeling slightly less exhausted than yesterday, when we got soaked, ad went round MoMA to dry off. May do a little light shopping today. MI - there has clearly been a run on your serum, as every pharmacy clearly stocks it, but the shelf is empty...

Am still covered with very itchy bites from Atlanta, which don't seem to want to go.

So day one with Flash - a mixed experience as having a new dog has been a real reminder of the one we lost.... all those little foibles that this dog doesn't have. Lots of teas, but lots of happiness... let's hope it continues....

Rose hope the reading is going well..

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 10/10/2016 22:41

Glad he's had a good first day.

Rose, hope all is going well with the reading. Dying to hear all about it....

Oh buggery, Rudy. Trains from kings X?

It was a remarkable evening. Such an achievement by rose, and I was gripped the whole way through. Brava!

motherinferior · 10/10/2016 23:06

Thank you, RoseFlowersFlowersFlowers

Civilised jaunt home with WAF and am just on the short bus ride which concludes it.

Lalsy · 10/10/2016 23:14

Rose, thank you so much, and sorry to rush off without saying goodbye. I really enjoyed that, so interesting. Star
