If you had £100 to spend on perfume, what would you buy?

I need a new perfume. My go-to for that amount of money is the original Coco but I'm thinking of trying something new. I like spicey and warm frgrances, nothing aqua-ish or excessively flora but love anything with a cinnamon, black pepper, oriental kind of vibe. Any suggestions?

I used to love the original Fendi Theorema too but that was discontinued years ago.

Coco for sure.

shins · 10/09/2016 07:39

One of the Chanel Exclusifs like Bois des Isles. Ormonde Jayne Woman. La Fille de Berlin by Lutens.

pinkmagic1 · 10/09/2016 07:43

Dior Addict.

bingohandjob · 10/09/2016 08:17

If you can get to the shop, I'd go to Jo Loves (Jo Malone's newer range) and try a few few and pick a gorgeous, distinctive one from there. I love the Pink Vetiver - it is addictive and a perfect Autumn/Winter scent. Other than that, I'd grab a big bottle of my favourite Philosykos.

MissBattleaxe · 10/09/2016 09:04

YY to Jo Loves. A fantastic range. I'd buy No 42 The Flower Shop or Green Orange & Coriander.

aniceearlynight · 10/09/2016 10:49

Serge Lutens Five o'clock Gingembre. My cousin's 'winter' perfume. Tea, cinnamon, wood, ginger, patchouli. Very comforting. I also think Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur would fit the bill but it's ££££. I love Hermes Eau de Merveilles as mentioned upthread but think it's more of a summer scent and find the ambre version is too sweet for me.

OhTheRoses · 10/09/2016 10:52

Something from M&S and something to wear Grin

MissBattleaxe · 10/09/2016 18:47

Oh yes, a Serge Lutens would be a good bet. I'd choose Santal Majuscule

MissBattleaxe · 10/09/2016 18:49

OhTheRose- you see, I'd rather have perfume than clothes! When I have a big event coming up, I start thinking about perfume I'm going to wear long before the outfit.

NotAnotherHarlot · 10/09/2016 18:54

Maxed Out by 4160 Tuesday's. It's AMAZING. I've got Shazam too, it's lovely but more dry than warm like Coco.

NotAnotherHarlot · 10/09/2016 18:55

I've also got Musc Ravegeur, it goes powdery on me. Les Scenteurs for samples?

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 10/09/2016 18:59

See you can try Merveiiles the perfume.

Not sweet, not summery, just amazing.

ephemeralfairy · 10/09/2016 19:33

Balenciaga Florabotanica.

Cariadd · 10/09/2016 22:10

My usual which is Chanel No5 at nearly £100 pounds per bottle or my night time one which is Coco ( same price)

Diamonddealeroncemore · 10/09/2016 22:14

Penhaligans no.9. It's my favourite I love spicy perfumes

WindPowerRanger · 12/09/2016 00:13

Guerlain's Les Jardins de Bagatelles is worth seeking out.

BeMorePanda · 12/09/2016 00:38

Maxed Out - by 4160 Tuesdays.
Actually I did just treat myself to a bottle of it. Lucky lucky lucky me Grin

Enjoy your new perfume op.

MountainDweller · 12/09/2016 00:58

Ooh Jo Loves... There is one called red truffle and something I think, it's lovely! (I got a set of 10 samples at Christmas, and included in the price is a bottle of my favourite... Still haven't chosen yet! Good way to try them if you can't get to the shop.)

Or Tom Ford Black Orchid.

Or Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir, but it's quite fruity as well as spicy. I always reach for it in autumn (still 27 degrees here so will have to wait a little longer!)

hollinhurst84 · 12/09/2016 02:01

I'm seconding the Shazam - 4160 Tuesday's recommendation. Weirdly it reminds me of Christmas, oranges, cloves, cinnamon, pomanders

herewego1987 · 12/09/2016 02:45

Elie Saabs first one! Ammaaaaayzing! oxxo

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 12/09/2016 03:04

i'd agree with pp who said Shazam or Maxed Out by 4160 Tuesdays. I was lucky enough to win a bottle of Maxed Out in a facebook competition they did and it is GORGEOUS. very very heady and rich, deep and spicy yet smooth. it really is worth a try. Shazam is also beautiful but softer than Maxed Out, still compelling but not as loud a monster as maxed out is, it's a bit less in your face but is beautifully warm and comforting

BeMorePanda · 12/09/2016 04:46

Ooh OneNight lucky you. I'm very Envy

BeMorePanda · 12/09/2016 04:47

No no Grin

takesnoprisoners · 12/09/2016 10:41

Which one did you buy, OP?

ThanksForAllTheFish · 12/09/2016 17:15

Hi op. I like similar type of perfumes to you and I have to say this Alexander McQueen perfume is lovely.

I got a sample from debenhams the other day and it's what I would go for if I was buying new perfume. It's spicy but light enough to not cause migraines. (Issues I have with certain perfumes that I like but are too heavy)

I can't tell you all the notes as I'm not good at that sort of thing. I just know I really like it and I'm generally a fan of spicy / Amber type of perfumes.
