If you had £100 to spend on perfume, what would you buy?

I need a new perfume. My go-to for that amount of money is the original Coco but I'm thinking of trying something new. I like spicey and warm frgrances, nothing aqua-ish or excessively flora but love anything with a cinnamon, black pepper, oriental kind of vibe. Any suggestions?

I used to love the original Fendi Theorema too but that was discontinued years ago.

Coco is £48 at elysain. baroness
I like Coco mademoiselle is mine of husband's choice at the minute, but gets it a duty-free.

MissBattleaxe · 08/09/2016 16:08

You would love Papillon Anubis. It's incredible. I think it's around £92 for 50ml but incredibly long lasting and strong. Very spicy, with muscles!

surferjet · 08/09/2016 16:10

Sisley Eau du Soir ( but it's about £150 )
Only perfume I buy.

DrudgeJedd · 08/09/2016 16:15

Grin at what's under this thread in my Active list, 2nd the Tom Ford suggestions too

strongswans · 08/09/2016 16:19

Agree with Hermes eau de merveilles, also adore Thierry Mugler Angel.

dontcrynow · 08/09/2016 16:21

Tom Ford

Needfinsnow · 08/09/2016 16:23

Elie Saab le Parfum

It's my absolute favourite, lasts ages and just smells beautiful. About £50 bottle so get two!! ;-)

needastrongone · 08/09/2016 16:32

Angel might be too sweet for the OP's requirements maybe?

Grin at Drudge.

Some of the Tom Ford's are more than £100, but there's a good range that are not. Black Orchid, Velvet Orchid, White Patchouli, and one I smelt at the weekend that was amazing but I can't remember the name....

megletthesecond · 08/09/2016 16:38

Something by Terry de Gunzburg. I think some of hers are under and just a touch above the £100 mark.

Or Tom Ford.

MissBattleaxe · 08/09/2016 16:41

Ooh yes megletthesecond. I particularly liked Terry-ific Oud.

If I had £100 I would definitely go niche rather than mainstream.

memyselfandaye · 08/09/2016 16:42

Chanel Allure

cressetmama · 08/09/2016 16:54

For my £100 perfume splurge, personally rather than for the OP, it would be one of the Parfumerie General range or a trio of the 10ml travel size Frederic Malles, if they can be mixed. Niche for certain.

PinkissimoAndPearls · 08/09/2016 17:05

Would Opium Black be too similar to your mother?

If it was me, I would buy Kenzo Amour. I just had a sample and am saving for one as I think it would be a lovely Autumn/winter scent. It's a sort of almond scent with vanilla underneath, but not sweet, just heavy and rich. I love it. It's about £50 so like PP I would get two bottles Grin

I do like Chanel Coromandel though, and the name is so nice to say Smile

You will have to let us know what you buy!

dragonsarebest · 08/09/2016 17:09

Ok thinking about it some more... It'd be between Ambre Russe and these three: Myrrhiad by Huitieme Art, Felanilla by Parfumerie Generale or Indigo by Baruti. This is why I have loads of samples and decants and very few full bottles! Indecisive.

This thread has given me some new ones to think ones too.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 08/09/2016 17:14

Annick Goutal has a lovely Ambre.
Serge Lutens is worth a try,

Amber des merveilles is a good ob=ne too.

takesnoprisoners · 08/09/2016 17:31

If you are in London, head up to the Penhaligon's shop and they do an excellent job of matching you with a good perfume. I find that the gentler/citrusy versions of Jo Malone usually fades out but the ones like Pomegranate Noir stays for a long long time. Whenever I wanted something different, I almost always go to Harrods and look around. Always find beautiful fragrances there.

sammy891 · 08/09/2016 17:37

Dior Addict Parfum

TheLittlestBear · 08/09/2016 19:26

Chanel Coco Noir.

crayfish · 08/09/2016 21:10

These are all great suggestions, thanks! I don't like any Tom Ford but the papillon sounds right up my street. I'm in Glasgow and we used to have a Penhaligans but now it's just the usual boots and debenhams stuff.

I have never smelled Coco Noir but read that it doesn't last. I think I'm really looking for something a bit less mainstream this time too so will have a closer look at some of the suggestions I haven't heard of.

I just remembered I had Kenzo Jungle l'elephant a few years ago and ended up using it as air freshener - it was too 'Christmas pot pourri' for me.

LordRothermereBlackshirtCunt · 08/09/2016 21:14

Another vote for Tom Ford.

BaronessBomburst · 08/09/2016 22:28

Oh, I've got one I use as an air freshener! 😂
It was a £2 bargain from one of those sell anything and everything cheapo shops. It's a bit like Poison. Fabulous in the downstairs loo.

Thank you to annielostit for the tip about Elysian, but I'm overseas. Can't even buy off eBay anymore because of the postal restrictions.

MissBattleaxe · 08/09/2016 22:55

You can get samples from Papillon here papillonperfumery.co.uk/sampling/

Clawdy · 08/09/2016 22:58

Juliette Has A Gun - Lady Vengeance. Really hard to find, amazing scent.

WindPowerRanger · 08/09/2016 23:14

Vogue has a feature on new perfumes this month and raves about Creed Avertus for her. The other perfumes recommended are Loewe 001 Woman, Tom Ford Vert Boheme, Prada la Femme, Boy Chanel, Jo Malone Basil and Neroli, Mizensir Little Bianca, Michael Kors Wonderlust, Louboutin Bikini Questa Sera and Penhaligon's Duchess Rose.
