Anyone with me?

I get old boden jeans (not stretchy) from charity mainly. They fit well and lift your bum, close fitting until mid calf then a slight flare.

Floisme · 05/09/2016 17:12

I agree, skinnies are practical in the rain but so are wellies and cagoules. I love autumn clothes and I want to feel excited when I get them out not, 'Oh it's you again'.

AmyC86 · 05/09/2016 17:33

Does anyone ever find that ANY jeans fit lovely everywhere other than thever waist? And then to get themy to fasten you have to go up a size and then they're baggy everywhere after 1 wash?

What is this thing about old-school denim all of a sudden? As far as I can remember, everyone was delighted when denim with stretch came in.

user1470251110 · 05/09/2016 18:26

I think the relaxed skinnies from M&S are great. they are a little bit bigger around the tights and calves but not to big on the waist. There very comfortable and a heavier denim like proper jeans.

Cocolepew · 05/09/2016 18:35

I like Next cigarette jeans, I usually wear leather converse hi tops and they fit under the jeans well without the jeans being too wide at the bottom.

LittleMissWagtail · 05/09/2016 18:37

user1470 can you link to the M&S relaxed skinnies please. I can never find anything on their website. Thanks

Acornantics · 05/09/2016 18:41

I bought a pair ilog Next cigarette jeans on a whim; absolutely the most comfortable pair of jeans I've tried on in decades.

Flattering too on my tall pear shape, as they're slim but not skinny, super stretchy and a high ish rise.

FrustratedFrugal · 05/09/2016 18:50

Floisme we just get sick of certain things. To me, stretch feels a bit cheap. I love thick proper denim. My old 100% cotton jeans become softer, creamier and more tactile with every wash. And they are so much more comfortable to wear. A tiny amount of lycra is okay but super stretchy jeans can feel pretty nasty.

user1470251110 · 05/09/2016 18:54

Littlemisswagtail, I'm new so not sure how to post links, does this work? Also live in Ireland so on the Irish M&S site, which probably isn't much use for you. But this is the kind of thing I'm talking about. I love them, I have 3 pairs.

Skinny jeans make my legs get a horribly claustrophobic feeling, can't bear them.

Floisme · 05/09/2016 19:01

Oh I agree about wafer thin stretchy jeans Frugal eww.

But do I really want to go back to feeling like an arse because everyone can see I've got a brand new denim jacket? And having to wait years before it looks presentable? Not much Grin

TheDowagerCuntess · 05/09/2016 19:22

I don't like stretchy jeans for the same reason I don't like leggings. I don't want trousers that hug my every leg curve, or rather, lack of - my legs tend towards shapelessness, so trousers that skim over are way more flattering on me.

Which is why I love the girlfriend jeans I have in rigid denim (but they're too casual for all occasions).

Floisme · 05/09/2016 19:39

Nah, nostalgia gorn mad. Rigid denim was awful

niminypiminy · 05/09/2016 19:41

As a result of this thread I've now become slightly fixated on these 1950s 701s. I'm sure you'd have to lie in the bath, and they would look very new to begin with, but I adore that high waist wide-ish straight leg, very plain look. But £150? Yeeks!

Floisme · 05/09/2016 19:46

Can't find that page niminy. They must be lost in the 50s Sad

Clockworklemon · 05/09/2016 19:59

Warning...dangerous thread! Have just fallen off the "start being better with money" wagon and ordered 4 pairs of jeans on line (all GAP) thanks to you lot!! Will try the baby Bootcut.. Not convinced will like them with heels but think they'll be ok with trainers?

Clockworklemon · 05/09/2016 20:00

Ps suckered in by the 20% off full price sale ends today..

I've always worn straight and bootcut. They're flattering on me. Skinny not so much unless I wear heels but I'm horrible with heels after years of wearing sneakers. I've lost my catwalk mojo.

& other stories have lots of non skinny jeans. I bought a pair of cropped bootleg in the sale and the denim is really good quality.

I've been wearing boyfriend and straight leg for a few years and boyfriend jeans have become almost skinny recently!

OhSoggyBiscuit · 05/09/2016 20:06

I've had jeans from Gap, from Tesco, from Sainsbury's...I can only afford the last two on a regular basis though! I'm not picky, as long as it fits well and is comfy I'm okay.

I'm really short bodied and short legged so for so long I never wore jeans. I always hated shopping for them because I'm such a awkward fit! Forget about skinny jeans.
