I love the idea of Community Clothing. SeaRabbit. Are you familiar with Howies too?

I have very bulbous calves and have not been able to get many jeans to for for the last few years. I live that straight leg are much more easily available now, even though they mostly look skinny on my legs! I've seen a couple of shops selling "baby boot" styles, which I'm going to try out just as soon as DD starts school, my goodness 6 hours a day to myself even if I only have one day off a week

HalfStar · 05/09/2016 08:44

I want high waist straight leg and above ankle too! Interested in the GAP ones, also ASOS Farleigh look worth a try though still quite slim in the leg. Madewell have gorgeous looking jeans but I'm short and can't figure out if they cater for that at all.

Backtoschoolyay · 05/09/2016 08:44

I have just bought a pair of straight jeans from next, the ones that are supposed to hold you in and lift you up. They don't work miracles but they look smart and I don't have to squeeze into them and peel them off.far more comfortable than skinnies.

niminypiminy · 05/09/2016 08:46

I really like those Community Clothing jeans searabbit. How did you buy them if they don't have an online shop?

BikeRunSki · 05/09/2016 08:55

That's what I was wondering niminy

For men, there's also Hebtroco - Hebden Bridge Trouser Company. DH has a pair of their moleskins, and they are beautifully made.

I am not normally a Torygraph reader but I do like Victoria Mosswho just happens to be the same size as me and this is a good read;

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 05/09/2016 09:42

I've got these, they are slim but not skinny and v v v flattering. They are comfy too, and you have to shrink them in the bath just like in the old days apparently.

Floisme · 05/09/2016 09:53

No.
Fashion is circular and I don't normally mind when things come round again but there are certain things I am not going back to: One is corduroy hotpants with a bib and another is sitting in the bath in my new jeans.

Floisme · 05/09/2016 09:56

They do look good in that link though. Hmm...

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 05/09/2016 10:02

I bought straight leg raw hem jeans recently from topshop (think they are the ones Taylor Hill is wearing in the Telegraph article) and I love them. Ok, they gape a tiny bit at the back of my bum, but for £40 I can cope with that. They skim over my 39 inch hips and then my thighs (where they are tight without being clingy), and I got the short length, so they even hit at the right point on my lower legs.

I've been wearing them with low block heel shoes and looking forward to trying them with ankle boots.

I already had skinny boyfriends from MiH, but they are less flattering on me because they're looser on the thigh and I need fitted clothes.

Having said that, I'm sure I will be back in my skinnies when tall boot weather hits Grin

Statelychangers · 05/09/2016 10:03

I'm just a bit bored of the skinny jean silhouette but I'm not ready to go back to bootcut, the memory is still too fresh.

LittleMissWagtail · 05/09/2016 10:16

Oohhh - pleased to read the good review of the Topshop ones Blair . I did hit the buy button before I posted the link 😊

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 05/09/2016 11:09

LittleMiss these ones? :)

LittleMissWagtail · 05/09/2016 11:18

CoolToned · 05/09/2016 11:23

I've been wearing my Joe's boyfriend jeans and I love the freedom.

Blair - can I ask what height you are please?

BerniceBobsHerHair · 05/09/2016 12:41

These Gap ones look good.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 05/09/2016 12:43

Ah LittleMiss I like my jeans bluer Grin they must be the same otherwise though.

HalfStar I am 5'6 but have an odd inside leg of about 26 inches or something. I've no idea what a 30' leg is in Topshop terms, but they were fine.

wizzywig · 05/09/2016 13:05

Yay i have a gap discount code

I love my skinnies! Im not giving them up yet!

CallarMorvern · 05/09/2016 15:26

Skinny flares, I love them, very flattering. Maybe not the best when it's raining. I love the whole 60/70s thing 🌺

mumsnit · 05/09/2016 16:04

Tesco straight leg jeans. Best fitting jeans I've found!

I never got on with skinnies but it's taking a long time for them to really fall out of fashion isn't it Confused

Snog · 05/09/2016 16:45

My 17 year old is mad for "mom jeans"!!!
It's a retro nineties look...
She says jeans with more cotton less stretch are much more comfortable to wear

mellicauli · 05/09/2016 16:45

The thing about skinnies is that they can be worn with flat boots. What can you wear with straights on a rainy day when you need to walk somewhere?
