Hurrah Rudy x

MrsSchadenfreude · 05/09/2016 19:35

Yay, Rudy - what a relief. Have a glass of Wine, you deserve it. Hope the recovery continues quickly now he;s home with you. xx

motherinferior · 05/09/2016 19:50

WineCakeWine Rudy.

Am making chicken noodle soup again. Have just used the chicken breasts apparently DP was planning to cook later this week BlushGrin

Stropperella · 05/09/2016 22:22

mmm, chicken noodle soup. Yum. Please could you share your recipe, MI?

Rudy, hooray! Hope ds gets his strength back soon.

Lalsy, thank you so much for the offer. That is so kind of your dd. Dd remains adamant that she needs no help and can do it all, and refuses to consult her friends. She fell at the first hurdle today with something to do with bank accounts and the SFS, but thankfully it was a 2 min job for me to sort out when I got in from work. She claims she will go to the bank tomorrow. And do her course registration. And this morning before work I took her for her meningitis vaccination and she requested her own repeat prescription for the first time ever, so that is a step forward. There has been some progress. She has also asked for tins of soup for her food supplies. This is also progress.
It is just exhausting because you can't predict on any given day how the roller coaster is going to go: up; down; just whizz around pointlessly. Or all of these. Today, going to uni on Friday is looking like it is probably on. Tomorrow it may be a different matter. Who knows?

Argh, I missed a bunch of posts this morning. Sorry to hear about your sleepless night, BTM. Hope you have matchsticks for the cinema. :)

BD, you sound like you need some more time off. Is it feasible?

Addle, I could have come and waved over the fence to you at the festival. Lots of dd's friends were working there. Maybe I will get it together to go next year, as it's only up the road from us. You recommend?

I am a booze lightweight who is sozzled after half a bottle of wine. I hadn't drunk spirits in years before the crepeys corrupted me. Grin

I am feeling a bit odd in the head. I think it is the last couple of weeks catching up with me. Better go to bed.

MrsSchadenfreude · 05/09/2016 22:27

I was teetotal before the Crepeys corrupted me particularly that MI--.

Teetotal, I tell you. Grin

Stropperella · 05/09/2016 22:30

Holy shit, MrsS, your nose is growing at fearsome rate Grin Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 05/09/2016 22:46

I felt quite positive today. I cleared my inbox (one of them - didn't dare look at the other one), had an online mutual mentoring session with a former work friend who now lives in New York - we are spurring each other on to lose weight, be more healthy, bounce work problems off each other, and more positive about life in general, which was energizing. I had a talk about The Importance of Deadlines with a member of my team, who came in late and hungover. I have organised lunch tomorrow with someone who does a similar job to me for a different organisation, and set aside time to finalise my objectives. And, with the risk of sounding like a bad American self help book, told myself sternly that while you might not be able to help your feelings/emotions, you can help your actions (even when pissed).

GiddyGiddyGoat · 05/09/2016 22:47

Well if that's true Mrs S it has to be said you've taken to it like a fish to water... Grin

CointreauVersial · 05/09/2016 22:53

Glad DS is home, Rudy, and that DD is making small progress, Strops.

Safe trip, NU.

Your pants are on fire, MrsS. Grin

First day of sixth form (for DS) and working full time in new role (for me). Both went swimmingly, although I'm absolutely knackered and about to head to bed....

Cremolafoam · 05/09/2016 23:07

Ok who are you and what have you done with Mrs S?Grin
Seriously, go you! All extremely positive stuff Mrs S. I am impressed.

BD I have also emailed you details again , and will be so pleased to see you.Flowers

Dad has had a turn with his physiotherapist today, and is really tired and sore. He has also had a chest X-ray , but no results until tomorrow. Fingers crossed. He is adamant that he won't go to the rehab centre after the hospital ( tis a new place for people recovering from physical injury and surgery as a buffer between hospital and home) and want s to get home asap. He is full of schemes for getting up to the house ( at the top of a steep path)involving 2 friends, a wheelchair, a trolley, the Red Cross and other madnesses . Oh dear. Mum finding him v trying.

NUFC69 · 06/09/2016 05:29

Lying in bed, looking at what you lot have been up to, before jumping in the shower. E tickets finally arrived at seven last night.

Good wishes to Rudy and Stropps; I hope their patients continue progressing, and that Cv's job goes well.

I will report back from the other side ....

Blackduck · 06/09/2016 05:51

Rudy I am so very glad you got your ds back.

Strops much strength.

Thank you everyone for resending info.

I'd love more time off, not least to go to a Greek Island to check out a replacement dog (I can hear Beachys Noooooooo from here :) ) but Sept is one of our busiest months and we are so far behind this year it's scary.....

hattymattie · 06/09/2016 06:43

GrinPants on fire Mrs S. But seiously, great that you've found a mentoring buddy.

NU - glad the tickets came through.

Going to wake up DS who I fear has switched off his alarm and gone back to sleep.

bigTillyMint · 06/09/2016 06:55

Bon voyage, NU!

MrsSGrin
Great to have a mentoring buddy too.

BD, why all the way to a Greek Island to get a dog?

I made it to the end of our film night which was actually very good - you lot would have loved it as our compere is very witty and they had prepared all sorts of funny film clips which she made even funnier.
However, I had completely lost my voice again by the end (had been sexily croaking all day!) and coughed all night long, but got some sleep inbetween.

Stropps, hope you have had a good nights sleep.
And Rudy and DS too Smile

Blackduck · 06/09/2016 06:59

Long story BTM - have a friend who has four Greek rescue dogs and keeps tempting me with pictures of a particularly lovely fellow....

MI quick question - where do you get you piercings done? My ears were done in the dim distant mists of time so no idea where you go these days...

bigTillyMint · 06/09/2016 07:11

BD, Claires are very good, despite the MN-hatred! However, you may need a needle piercing as they might go through the old holes? In which case I can recommend one that's a booth in a local hair-salonGrin

Blackduck · 06/09/2016 07:16

Thanks BTM - want new holes (oh er get her at her age) ....

addle · 06/09/2016 07:29

Wonderful news Rudy

Phew and have a great time NU

Good stuff Mrs S - and re shell grotto - that's v interesting - what was it, do you think?

BTM - glad you slept properly

Stropps - yes, I really liked EOTR and was v civilised or would have been without the rain. next year!

motherinferior · 06/09/2016 08:28

NU, have a fab time!

Best of luck to the WAFlette and the Montissima today. Watch out for the big girls. Grin

BD, it's a NOOOOO to Claire's or hairdressers from me. I would go to a proper tattoo/piercing place where kindly people with more body art than you thought imaginable will stick hollow needles in your flesh.Grin I can take you to my local if you want (am linked to it on FB).

Lalsy · 06/09/2016 08:41

GrinGrin at MrsS and her quick learning! Seriously, that sounds great MrsS, like the sound of the online mutual mentoring, what a good idea.

Rudy, hope your boy has slept well and has let you hug him really quite a lot. I was thinking about you at the weekend, and tried to hug my ds (similar age), who obviously thought I had gone barking mad.

Really good luck to all new starters, crepey and otherwise. At least you don't have to have your photo taken in front of your door, CV. Monty and WAF, has that happened?Smile

Stropps, glad to hear progress is being made. It sounds like more of her wants to go than otherwise? dd said it just brought it all back and she really felt for her (and you). I hope she gets some more done today. Is she worried about freshers (in amongst all the big worries)?

NU, bon voyage and keep us posted - I love your travel updates.

BD, sorry you feeling low and yet are so busy. Not a good combo....And BTM, hope you feel better today.

My internet may not be fixed for a month! (not at home now). So have still not caught up properly and lay awake trying to work out how this doesn't affect eg ds uni research/UCAS (which he has barely started), my work, aaargh.

Auriga · 06/09/2016 09:48

DD has hardly started either, Lalsy. I'm starting for her Grin

Cremolafoam · 06/09/2016 09:55

Gosh Lalsy, that's infuriating about the wifi/broadband. How long? I'd be going mad, so reliant on it I have become.

Best of luck to the year 7s/ new starts this week. (Lol at In front of door pictures. I did it with ddGrin)

NU, Bon voyage lovely! Glad the tickets got sorted at the 11th hour.

Rudy, I hope ds had a decent night in his own bed. I know it must seem like a mountain to climb to get him better and used to the meds, but we are here to prop you up when it all becomes too much.Flowers

BD, get the dog.Grin if it will make you happier, go and get it.Why not?
I hear you about things being busy. We are slammed as well, but I have decided to simply walk away at the end of the shift and care not about anything until I am back in. I used to care a lot, but guess what, they pay me the same either way.

Stropps , I have been thinking about dd this week. What kind of accommodation will she be going into ?
I really wish her well as I know it is such a big step. As I have been through it, in similar circs, please do pass on your anxieties by pm if you need to. I really hope you can run away on Saturday, and we can have a chat then.

Beachy and Rudy, I am hoping you got the flat details by email. I will also send you both my mobile number.

NUFC69 · 06/09/2016 11:02

Sitting in a cafe in Dublin Airport: thank goodness we didn't fly via Heathrow where I understand there are massive delays. Hatty, we have gone through immigration here so, supposedly, it will be very quick when we reach SF. Thinking about you all, but particularly Crem, Rudy and Stropps.

The staff here at the airport are lovely, so kind and friendly, such a pity we have to come back via the pit which is Heathrow. Half an hour to go until we board.

herbaceous · 06/09/2016 11:06

I am in soft play. But this time in Margate. It's a little place attached to the Premier Inn where we're staying. All class me. Shortly to do crazy golf, then beach. Then possibly the Turner art gallery. Shell grotto could be a step too far.
