Yes, sorry WAF, I missed the bit about DH and his problems. Strength to you all.

Stropps, yes we do worry about you - let's hope you and DD can get through this week without too many problems.

Still no confirmations re flights and, as it is bad enough trying to sort things out whilst we're in the country, God only knows what it would be like if we had to do it from the US. DS is taking us to the airport at 6.20 tomorrow morning so not a lot of time left.

Off for a mani and pedi this afternoon, DH has to go down to the GP to pick up his missing prescription - let's hope it's there.

motherinferior · 05/09/2016 11:07

Stropps, if you need to unload more on us - here or on Off the Beaten Track - please always remember you can. (Ditto, Rudy, of course.) It does sound utterly grim and beyond helpful platitudes like 'it'll all be FINE in the end'.

I need to book India tickets. What sites would the Seasoned Travellers recommend for doing so?

magimedi · 05/09/2016 11:13

Agree with MI re off loading - if you want. You are never burdening anyone on the internet - no one has to read anything.

Have been very happy with Trailfinders for distance travel, MI.

Wet & foggy here & am still having boring & annoying issues with car & dentist.

Cremolafoam · 05/09/2016 11:33

MI, I'd start with Skyscanner Put in London(any) -place in India, and 'whole month' ( December ) to get a range of prices and view the cheapest there and back. You can specify an Airline, a route or departure time as variables. Very useful.

Cremolafoam · 05/09/2016 11:34

Sorry Skyscanner

bigTillyMint · 05/09/2016 11:37

MI, I think DH looks on Sky Scanner and maybe others - maybe Expedia?

Stropps, it is so crap sitting on a ticking time-bomb. You go and get on with your stuff - she HAS to get a grip, and even if you were at her complete disposal, would probably still be prevaricating Angry

Have kept my eyes open so far, but not done much Grin

motherinferior · 05/09/2016 12:31

Yes, I've used a mix of Skyscanners and Expedia in the past...(I hate doing this!)

Blackduck · 05/09/2016 13:33

Oh Rudy really hope to see you Saturday! I am hoping to sneak off too.

Stropps there is only so much you can do and you have done what you can.
I think I hit a wall this weekend. Just want to run away and I know I don't have it as bad as some....
I have a tension neckache and am feeling meh

bigTillyMint · 05/09/2016 13:58

Oh BDFlowers Can you go off sick?

Lalsy · 05/09/2016 14:54

Stropps, am sure this won't help i was telling dd a little about your dd (no names, no pack drill) and she says if she can help she would be happy to (eg by sitting on phone looking at same screen assuming our internet mended). She said it seemed utterly overwhelming to her when she was anxious about going away and you have to be so patient as there are often dead links etc. I know it seems ridiculous but thought I would pass on.

In light relief news, having a shopping outing with dd. She says I ahould go for the "scary detective I can kill a man look". And uniqlo have high waisted slim leg jeans that look dreadful on their models but I reckon may be crepey jean nirvana.

Bd

wordassociationfootball · 05/09/2016 15:43

Gahhh... Stropps, the mountain of things in the sitting room and the not-done admin.... steam is coiming out of my ears just thinking about it.

Crem, how is ddad today?

Rudy, THREE (iii, 3) outpatient clinics??? Shish kebab.

I feel we should all don sequinned donkey jackets. If only there was some lovely party we could all look forward to......Grin

(I haven't Been Out, like dressed up and boozing and eating nice stuff for WEEKS. Scallops, swordfish, cheeseboard, gibber. That's an extra course. Hatty I am a lightweight with booze too. There may come a point in the evening where you and I will need to seek each other out when everyone else is well oiled)

DH is at docs right now. Thank you very much for your thoughts.

Rosebag · 05/09/2016 15:57

Stropps all Crepeys speak eminent sense. I have little to add, except that your instinct to put yourself incommunicado at work for a bit is probably a good one. I guess we do all we can to make them take responsibility but have to be there to catch them when they fall, as they inevitably will at times. You matter too, y'know. Flowers xx

Rudy I expect DS will be weak for some time but being home is psychologically an important thing and with some TLC and gradual feeding up, he will recover. The outpatient stuff, well to be expected but can be woven into every day life. I do hope this is the start of something better for you all. xx

Crem How is DDad...has the chest infection subsided. Flowers

NU have a great trip...I do hope the glitch in the return flight bookings is sorted out soon.

Tilly I hope you're getting through the day...what a terrible night. A mixture of illness and worries. Flowers

BD Treat that headache! My experience is they only get worse otherwise...I'm sorry you've come back to more work angst. Flowers

I am absolutely bushed having been on another Uni buying spree with DS2. DD starts rehearsals later, and classes tomorrow. DS1 boards his flight tomorrow and arrives back in the uk on Wednesday.

I have been having frantic calls with Young Sexy Director about the play workshop and Reading but it seems to be going well inasmuch as he has two thirds done the casting. If any Crepey who has not seen the Facebook Event (not being on facebook) wants info about being in the audience please PM me. The Reading is on 10/10 /16 in the evening.

I am looking forward to Crem's soiree...I am more than happy to lead a bit of a sing song, but there is no time to rehearse.. I do have a mash up of three very well known songs that I put together ages ago, (that everyone knows the words and tune of, but it would involve everyone...I don't hold with the "I can't sing" thing....) No solos and no difficult bits...we didn't do high brow stuff when I did choir... It's what I always fall back on when asked to do something impromptu. In S&B news I might wear the flowery dress from Saturday if I can be arsed with the spanx... Hmm

Rosebag · 05/09/2016 15:59

WAF sorry about DH, must be trying for you. I am worse than a lightweight with booze being a virtual non drinker and always feel a bit silly...

addle · 05/09/2016 16:30

Just back from my first ever festival - End of the Road. cold, wet and muddy but v good fun. Rained every single day, nearly all the time. Did I take wellies? No. But carried round small plastic water bottle full of brandy and ginger ale for constant supping. House almost as we left it. BTM - ran into A's gf I's DM who we'd never met but who knew that we would be there and DH would be in a boot

Stropps - if not Lalsy's DD (who is vv lovely), might your DD have a peer who could sit with her to do these things. Stuff that they can only do themselves is so frustrating when you're met with that blanket refusal

Rudy - really wonderful news that DS will be at home but a lot to take in for the future

WAF - so sorry about DH. you're doing well to frame things so that he can listen though. v hard

Belated Happy Birthday, BTM! hope you're feeling a bit better now - that was a bugger of a night

Herbs - I'd add the shell grotto to Mrs S's margate recs and fort's cafe. have lovely time

Beachy - sorry about goings on at party. Hope DS ok and rebuked git still feeling small

Rose - much belated but that dress looks v lovely on you

Blackduck · 05/09/2016 16:42

Talking of the weekend can someone please let me know when/where/times etc. somehow in the last couple of months this has skipped off my radar.....

bigTillyMint · 05/09/2016 17:07

Addle, she is lovely, isn't she? As is her DDSmile

Lalsy, my DD might be grateful for that in a year if she gets her head down and works this year !

BD I have forgoten too but will see if I can find the info! So looking forward to it Smile

I survived the day AND did circuits! Now have to keep awake at our themed film night!

motherinferior · 05/09/2016 17:09

Have emailed you, BD.

I'll be coming from the British Library again, I expect. That's the sort of glamorous life I lead.

motherinferior · 05/09/2016 17:11

BTW am I the only Crepey who is ahem quite looking forward to Cold Feet tonight?

bigTillyMint · 05/09/2016 17:18

I will be watching it on catch up.
And Victoria which we managed to miss yesterdayConfused

Blackduck · 05/09/2016 18:12

MI thank you :)

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 05/09/2016 18:17

Thanks from me too Smile

Need light relief here.

Blackduck · 05/09/2016 18:32

Thank you BTM!

hattymattie · 05/09/2016 19:24

I'm so sorry that so many crepies are having such a hard time at the moment.

Stropps - DD seems to be sending very mixed signals regardless of what she says. If she is not willing to manage her enrollment and she is so fragile mentally, maybe she should take a gap year whilst she gets it together.

MI - get thee to India. I must say, I am quite envious how you can go to lovely institutions like the British Library to hide out. The French equivalent is modern, far away and not at all user friendly. I also love how the V&A and such like have lovely accessible tea rooms.

Have dyed hair rather dark in the hope that it will not need doing again in approximately 4 weeks.

NU - hope your flights are sorted.

MrsSchadenfreude · 05/09/2016 19:25

DH has taken DD2 back to school. I am going to do the hoovering and load the dishwasher while he has gone, and drink more tea.

Herbs - the Shell Grotto is really strange, and it completely freaked out DH. He had a really uncomfortable feeling and had to leave immediately. No idea why.

WAF - sorry about your DH, hope he has some joy at the doctor's.

First day back at work today, no awkwardness with colleague, back to filthy banter and flirting as usual. Have pushed potential work trip with him onto someone else, as thought this was the most sensible thing to do. Trying not to drink until Saturday...
