Nonsense MI Most of us have negative views of ourselves and the camera is never, ever kind. I also hate being photographed and as a result have become a whizz at cropping and editing on my phone before anything reaches Facebook or otherwise public viewing. Grin

Heartwarming news Rudy ! He is young and strong, and will be fine back in the outside world when the time comes.

I am hot and tired. I had a really distressing meeting with ConS yesterday. Am upset at what a state he's in and how unwell he seems. And today I am facing a meeting at the venue for the Reading...it may not go swimmingly. And all in this HEAT.

DD is off to her course in short shorts, a clingy vest and a Calvin Klein crop top underneath. She looks very....dancey! It makes me snigger when I think of her friends in 6th form...at the previous place...religious school and have to dress accordingly. Grin

motherinferior · 14/09/2016 08:46

Rose, I'm channelling Fame here.

magimedi · 14/09/2016 08:50

Hooray for your DS, Rudy.

I am packing for trip to France & I may divorce (D)H before we leave. He takes so berluddy long to decide what to take!!!

Very hot - am sneaking off for a quick swim now - water is as warm as I have ever known it here.

Lalsy · 14/09/2016 09:32

MI, that photo confirms none of that, seriously. You looked great on Saturday and that photo mainly shows a rather elegant forearm and a thoughtful expression. Someone took a photo of me on holiday in a swimming costume (it was kindly meant) - imagine my horror...

Rudy, am so pleased.

Rose, tee hee, how lovely for dd. Sorry your meeting was so upsetting though.....

Auriga · 14/09/2016 09:47

Thank you Rudy and I'm delighted to hear that DS is showing some convincing signs of recovery.

herbaceous · 14/09/2016 10:55

MI - I had/have similar opinions of my appearance, and was similarly free and easy with my affections for the same reasons.

I get through photos by making a stupid face, so that when I look ugly it's because I'm making that face, rather than because I'm ugly.

However, in that photo, if I were looking at it dispassionately, I look OK and normal. You look more than OK, and lovely.

Cremolafoam · 14/09/2016 10:57

Oh Rudy, glad to hear Ds back eating: this is a Good Sign. Once he gets used to the jabs, and gets a bit of strength back ( wobbly legs no doubt) he will be great. Such a horrible shock will take its toll mentally as well. Love to you all.

Still awaiting update from dmum re papa. Weather is amazingly good here too, despite forecasts of doom and destruction , we haven't been blown from the map.Grin
Magi Bonne Route.
Rose, hope you can get cooled down. Dd sounds like she's making up for lost time after frumness.Wink
Lovely.

MI, your hair is as nice as I ever seen it. You look trim, and your glasses really really suit you. Stop with the self crit. You are bloody marvellous.

Lalsy , I feel the same about swimsuits and have banned all photo taking within a mile of swimming area.
I am facing nude showering, in public in Iceland , which I will have to mentally build up to.(gulp)

Cremolafoam · 14/09/2016 11:12

And in the spirit of celebrating Crepey lovliness I bought a Ruby Woo lippy because of Herbs on Saturday night sporting it so gorgeously.

I'm afraid, I too was similarly behaved ( wild) in yoof, regarding deeming self fat and ugly. SadAngry

Lalsy · 14/09/2016 11:40

Sad at all youthful self-loathing. Another age-old issue I suspect. I feel a bit more liberated as a crepey. I don't care any more. Happy to look nice if also comfy but if comfy means baggy I-have-come-to-colonise-you linen shorts, as it does today while I tramp streets with laptop aka Colossus, then sod it.

Crem yes re swimsuit ban, and no-one would normally, but this was young mate of dd's who thought he was being nice recording a rare moment of daring on my part. Iceland - the naked, supervised showering meant dd nearly didn't get on the plane. Actually, it was fine. Plenty of hearty Icelandic blubber on display and no-one gave a toot. It had the weird effect that when you put your cossie back on you felt overdressed, and much less self-conscious poolside. Hope it goes smoothly with your ddad, poor old chap.

Magi, happy trip!

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 14/09/2016 11:59

Well I thought we all looked lovely on Saturday night and the picture shows us having a jolly time.......

MI, I do like your hair that colour - it's really soft, IYKWIM. Soft is good....

Very happy to hear ds is eating better, Rudy. Can't believe he's relaunching into real life as early as next week, that's great. And here's to dd, Rose, may the short shorts continue!

I'm still on constant standby re ds; school is being awesome, with tonnes of support, and the NHS is providing lots of appointments etc. I would quite like one day when I don't have to think or talk about it, like a little 24 hour 'mind weekend'.

Dh has taken the day off; it's quite annoying Grin

Ha ha Crem She looked anything but frum, I can guarantee! I love the look of a skinny, strappy vest, layered over a crop top. Sadly I am too old, creepy and floppy boobed to channel it myself. I hope there's better news from your DDad soon Flowers

The only photos of me in a swimsuit are allowed, are from the shoulders up... Hmm

Beachy Flowers does one ever have a day off from worrying about a child who is suffering? I know that feeling of being on constant standby and although I don't really need to be any more, I can't stop the adrenalin surge when someone rings the mobile. it does get better though. Really. Smile

I have had a rejuvenating morning with my sign teacher, rejuvenated by singing some Mozart, a break from the Rodgers and Hammerstein Ive been working on. I will leave you with a clip of the duet we sang (Not me obviously...) which we'd done ages ago and haven't since. The best fun.
two women scheming Enjoy

bigTillyMint · 14/09/2016 12:49

Beachy, sympathies. I have so been there (and who knows, may be back there again) It will get better, but it takes time Flowers

I have done a meeting, blood test and dropped DD's laptop to the Computer Man and am now workingWink Just a sixth form open evening and dinner with one of my closest friends who is down for a conference to do after work!

Cremolafoam · 14/09/2016 13:19

Forgot to mention that I really liked the shape of your dress on Saturday BTM. Really suited you - lovely shoulders and all.Smile

bigTillyMint · 14/09/2016 13:49

Aww, thanks CremoSmile It was also cool and comfy (Lalsy, I recommend!)

Lalsy · 14/09/2016 14:19

Smile dresses hard for me as top half all bust and shoulders, so I am a cuboid. Where was it from? I do like not being hot!

wordassociationfootball · 14/09/2016 14:31

I can't see photos on Fb.

Rosebag · 14/09/2016 14:46

I liked it too!
You know when you arrive at a meeting like s boiled lobster and you just wanted to look trendy and uber cool Angry
I am waiting in the bar... Gah

bigTillyMint · 14/09/2016 14:56

I think it was Phase 8. With 20% off IIRC!

WAFConfused I will check on you on FB!

Good luck Rose

bigTillyMint · 14/09/2016 14:57

Is it working now?

Stropperella · 14/09/2016 15:04

Looks like university is already been written off by dd. Aibu not to want her back home and what should I do?

Lalsy · 14/09/2016 15:11

What's happened, Stropps (if you can say)?

Not AIBU Flowers

Thanks, BTM.

bigTillyMint · 14/09/2016 15:27

Oh no Stropps Sad

Stropperella · 14/09/2016 15:30

She has phoned to say she hates it and wants to come home. I don't want her home. She has zero plans. And she was bloody rude to me, telling me it's my job to make her feel better.

wordassociationfootball · 14/09/2016 15:32

Can you get in quick with the student counselling people and SWAT team them round to her Stropps??? Am so sorry......

Lalsy · 14/09/2016 15:35

Sad. How hard for you. I don't think such calls are uncommon for freshers (is she in FW?) as it sounds absolutely ghastly unless you like other people's vomit and being groped in ball ponds. But of course your worries are deeper and more complex and it will be hard to disentangle. Is she upset, or angry?
