He is talking about renting this for a formal do. I'm sure he's kidding. He has to be kidding, right?

Hmm
Tutter · 31/01/2007 17:21

i sincerely hope so

unless it's fancy dress

Pinkchampagne · 31/01/2007 17:21

Tee hee! Let's hope he is!!

NotQuiteCockney · 31/01/2007 17:25

He's English. And not very 1920s. I mean, I love zoot suits, I really do, but you have to be a very particular sort of person to pull one off. DH is pretty much the antipathy of that person.

It's not fancy dress, it's an industry do in SF.

are you married to Johnny Depp, Jonathan Ross or Jay Kay from Jamiroquai?
If not then he is joking

paulaplumpbottom · 31/01/2007 17:26

If you love him don't let him do it. We are there to guide them after all.

Whoooosh · 31/01/2007 17:37

Well.....maybe without the hat?

Looks like it would be good for Bugsy Malone, my son is doing it at school.

KezzaG · 31/01/2007 17:50

Am I the only one now singing Kid Creole songs......

Are you going with him?

NotQuiteCockney · 31/01/2007 17:57

I won't be with him. Does that mean I should tell him to do it?

I think he's saying this because he's read about peacocking in that pick-up artist book.

It is very Kid Creole, isn't it. I think you'd have to be Kid Creole to pull it off, though.

OP posts:
KezzaG · 31/01/2007 18:09

LOL, well if you arent going it makes it slightly better!
So this is actually your fault because you got him the pickup book?? Thats quite funny!

NotQuiteCockney · 31/01/2007 18:10

Dear god.

He's not kidding.

How on earth do I have a conversation with him about this? He's annoyed and angry that I thought he was kidding!

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 31/01/2007 18:11

No no, he had strange dress sense before I ever got involved. I can't take all the blame.

OP posts:
filthymindedvixen · 31/01/2007 18:12

Well, let him wear it but do damage limitation and tell him the spats, chains and hat are way off limits

JackieNo · 31/01/2007 18:15

He'll have to grow a pencil moustache to go with it.

Gobbledigook · 31/01/2007 18:17

OMG I hope so! Dh's cousin wore something similar to SIL's wedding. He looked a right donkey

filthymindedvixen · 31/01/2007 18:18

how old is he? I'm think for example my dh at 45 would look tragic, but if your dh is a hip young 20-summat, he might just get away with it?

HEIFER · 31/01/2007 18:19

Tell him you thought he was kidding because he would look like a bloody joke if he wore it!

You have to stop him - it is your job (and your reputation at stake)...

I am lol here, thinking that god its not my dh....

sorry not much help - but you have made my day....

NotQuiteCockney · 31/01/2007 18:35

He is early 30s, but quite staid, not hip.

Is this that midlife crisis thing? I wouldn't mind him wearing slightly funkier weekend clothes (He doesn't own jeans. He has never owned jeans.)

Seriously, he still wants to wear it. I have said that if he can find a sighted person who thinks this is a good idea, he can do it. (Well, not really. I can't forbid it, it's his clothing, his choice. I don't think my reputation is on the line, none of the people there have ever met me.)

NotQuiteCockney · 31/01/2007 18:35

I'm waiting patiently for some MNer who has met DH to appear and crack up even more ...

OP posts:
Aloha · 31/01/2007 18:37

I'm sorry but I am laughing a LOT at that suit. I'd encourage him if I were you. Would absolutely guarantee his fidelity!

NotQuiteCockney · 31/01/2007 18:39

I have no fears about his fidelity, pick up artist book notwithstanding!

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 31/01/2007 18:40

Ha ha, told him someone on the thread (you, Aloha) felt the suit was a good idea. He was quite chuffed until he found out why.
