He is talking about renting this for a formal do. I'm sure he's kidding. He has to be kidding, right?

ROFL - I mean it though!

MrsBadger · 31/01/2007 18:43

if he's staid and English has he mistaken it for a pukka pinstripe 3pc ?

(am hoping against hope...)

itsmeNDP · 31/01/2007 18:46

arf

No no, he knows it's a zoot suit. He's thrilled about the hat.

He claims that dressing more eccentrically would make him more visible, and do him good in his career, amongst the venture capitalists.

But he works in a very staid area, and is doing very well! And he does fine being visible by talking at things etc etc.

I can see that everyone dressed up as waiters is a bit boring. I think he should wear a more interesting tie with his tuxedo (or whatever you lot call them). But a zoot suit is another thing entirely.

He really is staid. He really is English. I pointed Greeny at this thread, she can confirm all this.

nqc, what does he wear, if he doesn't wear jeans, ever?

NotQuiteCockney · 31/01/2007 19:13

Suits, chinos. Normally shirts with collars. Rarely tshirts.

Holy Guacamole, you can't let him go in that

Tutter · 31/01/2007 19:14

It would look sexy on a woman. With some red lipstick.

NotQuiteCockney · 31/01/2007 19:24

I'm in London. He's off to SF for a do.

Yes, I could wear a zoot suit, I've often wanted to own one. But him! I mean ... words fail me.

Tutter he wears unironed chinos and shirts. I'm not insane!

His dad always wears a blazer on weekends, I think, so he's quite casual, given.

FioFio, I think calling it dress "sense" is a bit of a misnomer. He's mostly oblivious, I can buy nearly anything for him and he'll wear it, but every so often he gets an idea in his head ... which isn't really a good thing, given.

(I'm not cockney! I'm Canadian! Hence the name. We do live in East London, though.)

Shock
NotQuiteCockney · 31/01/2007 19:43

He says, in his defence, that at least he didn't want to wear the white one . Is this a good defence?
