re rain tilly . It's beautiful here...I am taking a break at at a garden centre at Ch, well known to molly. It's lifting the mood a bit. I guess I'm just a bit low...I don't really mind doing the wrapping up at the flat before we leave...I'm a bit pedantic about how it's left for next time. I just envy other members of the family their freedom. I feel a bit like herbs did...all my friends are away ('cept you lovely lot) and DD 24/7 sweet as she is, is no substitute. Checking my diary I am actually working tomorrow night, Wednesday night, Saturday and Sunday mornings so I'd better shut up. I think I'm more ashamed of myself for getting all upset when everyone was blaming me for the parking situation on Sunday. But they were all quite horrible. Especially MIL who drives the smallest Noddy car imaginable (badly) and kept finding me spaces befitting a Noddy car, not a Seven seater people carrier....

Trying to sort out relief carer for when main carer goes on breaks. No-one is returning calls. Whether we need one depends on whether/when mum is coming out of hospital. No-one is answering the phone. Sis isn't answering the phone.

This is the kind of time-consuming crap Helpful Friend doesn't see going on...

Herbs, I do think you should allow the Crepey hit squad to take care of Helpful Friend. You can be sure that, virtually, we are taking care of her.

Rose, are dd's results next week? Maybe once the waiting is over you will feel less low?.....I used to have cold half terms in London while lots of friends away, when the dc were little. OK, crepey dears, this not quite an interview is on Wed, when temps due to soar, at the other end of the tube. I don't do heat or interviews. I have bought this with a nude cami as it is see through. It matches a pair of linen trousers I own nicely and I think I won't have visible sweat marks - setting a low bar. I have a smartish sleeveless top (sort of silky stuff on the front and jersey on the back) that also goes OK with the trousers but think sleeveless a bad idea? I can't wear my otherwise perfect dress as my legs are all scratched. Votes please?

I was helped by a very firm assistant in Jigsaw, of the Soviet cell block variety, who locked me in a cubicle and brought me things in my size occasionally shouting "Come out now, Madam, and let me see you". It was annoying but effective for the shopping-averse.

Unexpectedly home, after being called out of my ward round for an "urgent phone call from a family member".

Won't tell you everything that went through my mind. It was DH to tell me that DD had collapsed at her physio appointment. Spoke to the physio, who kept contradicting herself but wanted to send them to A&E. I said okay, I'd meet them there. Colleague drove me.

When I saw DD & got her to give me a proper account, I was happy that it was a simple faint so we all came home. She's much better now after food, water and reassurance. Turns out she was a lot more anxious about the appointment than she was letting on. The physio had begun by saying "some of these tests will probably be quite painful" , which possibly didn't help.

So now I have to get her another appointment before we go away. And go with her this time, I think.

On the positive side, the muffins I baked for the ward round were delicious.

Herbs, the hours of fruitless phone calls used to get to me, too. I had to keep a log because I lost track. If I wasn't careful, the nth person would put me through to the same non-functioning number as I'd been through to n times before.

That's a worry, Auriga, but for the muffins. Hope she can get s new appointment soon.

Molly, I would have purposefully misheard the nasty parking man and said 'Sorry, I need a .....willy?'

We are clear of results here thank god, one of three clear years in twelve, I believe, so making the most of it. But lots of finger crossing for all expecting....

So Serpentine, Diana fountain, boat, maybe the Olympic slide (but I can't seem to master the website), various fountains and home to collapse with a large glass of wine!

Beachy, I think he would have hit me. I was trying to avoid scraping a BMW and my parking sensors were misleading me towards over-caution, so I was being slow.

Auriga, such a worry. I hate those messages and how your blood runs cold. My experience with physios and teen girls is that - in our case - they forgot that dd was STILL A CHILD even though she could have passed for 25, so they didn't bother to explain properly or think about what she might need. Hope you can get it sorted.

Ough, Auriga, what a nasty shock. I am glad she is OK and getting some tlc.

Beachy, you can do a canal walk to/from the Olympic Park, if that would prolong the watery theme? I recommend the tfl cycling maps - also great for pedestrians and planning green or watery urban walks.

Poor dd, Auriga, and poor you. Hope the next appmt is with a different physio.

BD, you were in my thoughts on Saturday. I'm really glad that it went well.

Rose, you put up with too much and are too nice. And so do you, MrsS. And NU, I think you need some time off from being Super Gran!. Not just when you go away, but before then!

I spent a long time putting up with too much and being too nice and I am trying to learn how to re-draw my boundaries. It's better for everyone, not just for me.

Herbs, I was at what the Helpful Friend said to you. I would have tearfully and angrily gone off on a massive rant at her until she crept away, embarrassed.

Ahh, Results Day. Dd's latest prob is of sufficient proportions to drive the impending horror of RD into the background. I am being cool, calm and collected and non-judgemental and providing support where I can. I am impressed with myself so far. As for RD, it is inevitably going to bring disappointment (this was an A*/A student, who will be lucky if she passes anything). It is merely a question of the magnitude of the disappointment. The thorny issue of what comes next will be the real problem, as there is not really a Plan B (beyond some vague waffle about a gap year. I think it might be more like a gap life, frankly).

WAF, I took a leaf out of your dd's book today and went to Weymouth with ds on a pokemon hunt. And also to get him some cheap sports gear, but that was rather by the by. We did junk food and pokemon hunting. We (for it is on my phone) went up 2 levels and I have banked a lot of mum points.

Thanks for the new thread, BTM. I am enjoying your pics of exotic places on FB. And also enjoying the temps of 27+ in my back garden.

Although what I am not enjoying so much is that the neighbour's parrot, which used to wolf-whistle all the time, has now taught itself to bark like a very yappy little dog (somebody within earshot of the parrot has acquired 2 very yappy and perennially enraged KCC spaniels) and yaps whenever it is put outside. It is infinitely more annoying than an actual dog.

Lalsy - I considered that very blouse yesterday in Jigsaw. I decided I would not have the occasion to wear it but did love it - I thought with a black cami. Go for it.

We are now at my parents' in North Yorkshire - DM is very forgetful and needs lots of help getting a meal out but seems generally calm and ok if one is patient. We are going to try to be out a lot.

Rose - I spent last week very lonely as all friends were away - much happier now I'm on the move - and able to meet up with old friends from school.

Crossing fingers for all those awaiting results. Feeling very lucky that we are in the happy position of just waiting for accommodation allocation.
