Rudy, he cold get one really cheaply - like £20/£30 for a 2man pop-up.
And I'm joining you in the cottage by the sea. With the lash serum and Aloe Vera geL Grin

motherinferior · 04/08/2016 10:28

Rudy, I'll come and join you in your cottage. Am already letting my hair grow wild.

They're off to the wilds of Tipperary (hums annoyingly at them for the millionth time) to a boarding-school for the hippy t'ai chi. But surely they can get one at a service station en route? I have a job to do. I am trying to get stuff done and I feel very hassled and frankly I want to hand this to DP, who admittedly did get them walking trainers* but on the other hand pays NO attention to eg the need for new school uniform.

*DD2's were too small. The walking boots DD1 borrowed from me for her DoE are also slightly small for DD1. So DD2 has taken DD1's/mine, DD1 has new ones and I'm taking DD2's new ones.

The fuss over this rainmac is actually breaking me.

I think I need a holiday. Which I am not going to get. I'm wrestling with a feature for which a PR swore she'd send me all sorts of info and now hasn't. (Please don't point out I need a break - I know I need a break but it just isn't possible at the moment if I want to earn my living.)

bigTillyMint · 04/08/2016 10:41

That sounds like a bargain Rudy! I guess it's not in the UK! 9 days sounds pretty hardcore tooShock

WAF I have aloe Vera after sun! My DC would be with your DD2. Thankfully no trekking/volcanoes involved in this hol. And free wifi everywhere!

Lalsy · 04/08/2016 10:45

MI, send them to Decathlon at Surrey Quays and give them money for a thorntons ice cream from the shopping centre nearby. If they like goats, they can go to the city farm too. It is a top day out: you can try out all the tents and gym equipment. We all enjoy it Blush.

Shock re prolonged flooding - I have that sort of malarkey for a day or a day and a night and feel completely washed out --and obsessed with chocolate-.

Crem, place sounds really lovely, how exciting.

Rudy, yep, me too. WAF, I dunno, dd went through a phase of nose cutting off/arguments about every tiny thing, absolutely exhausting, took up loads of time and energy. And then it stopped. Both dc have chosen to do walking type hols with friends this year, although when out with us they can still hint they want to call Childline. Molly, hope you are all OK.

Lalsy · 04/08/2016 10:46

Sorry, crossed post MI.

motherinferior · 04/08/2016 10:47

Apparently DD1 also needs a swimsuit.

Do I care? Do I actually care? Do I even look as if caring had entered my head? That would be a no. Especially not as her ladyship is planning a busy day (at some point after, you know, getting up and putting some clothes on her lithe and supple form) hanging out with her mates before the agony of a whole 14 days away from them.

I keep forgetting that I do get the payoff of a week of GLORIOUS SOLITUDE. I shall eat chicken livers, drink cava and shower with the bathroom door open. And stay up as long as I like and then have a glorious night with no bugger snoring beside me.

Lalsy, that farm has a top cafe Wink

Rudy, big line-up! Sounds like he will need a uni with plenty of bands playing. Unless 9 days puts him off!

MI surely she/they can get themselves to Surrey Quays. I am frankly impressed that they at willing to spend 14 days on a family holiday not in a place known for its hot and dry weather and with a week of it doing that weird activity Grin

Rosebag · 04/08/2016 11:36

Grin MI I would order what they want on amazonprime or next, and get next day delivery to their destination so it's waiting for them on arrival. or just get them to try browsing the bigger local supermarkets. Beggars can't be choosers, eh? I expect Amazon can also supply tents Rudy...

I too have this feeling of can't be bothered with the parenting/ wifeying any more. It's a relief that I'm not alone in these feelings. I like being on my own. Says she, sitting in a nice tea room in the village having dispatched DD and her plus 2, to crazy golf, amusements, beach etc in the next town. The plan is they leave me be for as long as possible... Hmm I will finish my cheese scone and thus fortified will transfer to the beach shack cafe for more drinks and some seaside sun and my book.

What is this body glide of which you all speak? I don't have chub rub
unless I get very large in the thigh area, not than mine are small but quite like old fashioned talc under the boobage.

Ouch tilly but at least the rain has stopped, eh? I certainly burn more easily now I'm older regardless of the calibrate of my sun cream....

Rosebag · 04/08/2016 11:38

Calibrate? Calibre...

motherinferior · 04/08/2016 11:41

A swimsuit has been found. I think they're in the middle of nowhere, as they usually go to boarding-schools for the hippy t'ai chi and will be busy doing hippy t'ai chi. Ordering and sending it directly vg idea and will do that. It's the general ignoring of the fact that I do actually work full-time UNLIKE SOME PEOPLE WHO ARE STILL WANDERING ABOUT IN THEIR PANTS.

OP posts:
herbaceous · 04/08/2016 12:08

Body Glide is a lubricating substance, in stick form, that prevents chafing where skin rubs, either against itself or some inanimate clothing. I think it's designed for sportif pursuits, but is equally suited to carrying out daily life in a skirt in the summer.

My thighs are vast, but still rubbed together even when I weighed 8.5 stone. It's to do with how your legs fit on to your pelvis, appaz.

DP making a salsa with the tomatoes our hosts brought over last night, complete with olive oil and basil. All grown on site!

In Lion Prince news, he came with his cub and frolicked in the pool this morning. Our own cub, amusingly, promptly joined them and cemented Anglo/Italian relations splendidly via the universal language of splashing. I think I can cope with occasional incursions of that nature.

herbaceous · 04/08/2016 12:10

Our cub now looking up specific rail maps, such as cross rail or 'trains to airports', and has been doing so for the past hour. And even faced with the splendour of the gardens yesterday, his convo mainly revolved around the age of the bakerloo line, or how long the planned engineering works at London Bridge are due to last.

bigTillyMint · 04/08/2016 12:27

Herbs, where do you get the chub rub from? Sounds good!

Does your DS know all the bus routes too? I have taught a few similar and the one who knew all the London bus routes was very useful for trips Grin

hattymattie · 04/08/2016 13:37

Morning all - was going to say Decathlon have swimsuits as well but it appears the problem have been solved. We cannot go there without spending at least 100 euros. We did our lake district shopping and DS has refused a waterproof - he will l earn the hard way (but will smuggle in a spare just in case he cracks).

Crem - safe journey to the holiday home. Re.lax and enjoy

Herbs - have a gin and put your foot up in similar manner to young lion. The gin may help with gesticulations.

Have been shopping with DS today but found lots of useful things in the end of the sales for DD2 uni - I hope she likes navy blue towels - at least they won't show up the dirt.

Rudy - have visions of you with long wild grey hair and luscious eye lashes Grin.

Collymollypuff · 04/08/2016 13:45

Body Glide for chub rub...things you learn on MN. BTM, hope your sunburn is a bit better - I second WAF on the merits of aloe vera, readily available from chemists. Use liberally and very often indeed.

herbaceous · 04/08/2016 14:22

Aloe Vera is the bee's pyjamas. I remember a friend getting so burned he blistered, after falling asleep in the Australian sun, and the aloe c sorted him out within a day.

Body glide purchased from the dreaded Amazon!

bigTillyMint · 04/08/2016 15:23

More a v has been applied (though sadly only the "in aftersun ingredirect" rather than the real mccoy (have plants at home!)

Nice drinks + meal out where the DC didn't speak to each otherGrin DD only got 3 hours sleep last night - hope tonight is better. I love Vietnamese food and drinks - Saigon beers ot fresh fruit juices/smoothies/milkshakes and all manner of healthy dishes. DS has even been eating exotic veg. And some lettuce Shock

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/08/2016 15:33

Rudy - Budapest will be scorchio in the summer, and in the event that it rains it is only likely to do so at night.

I am back from the London Dungeon. DD1 has the squits and is doing Dying Swan Act in bed. DD2 and friend were trotting off down the Southbank, then walking to St Paul's as Friend wanted to see inside. DD2 refuses to do culcha with us - she went to Tate Modern yesterday with Friend and enjoyed it. Shock

We are going to Brighton tomorrow. I will take my book and sit on the beach while DD2 and Friend go on the pier.

hattymattie · 04/08/2016 17:03

Rose - I agree with you about kicking out the DC's just made DS go out for a walk - he was odious! But for the return had forgotten his bad temper and became reasonably nice Grin

Rosebag · 04/08/2016 17:38

mrsS do you feel like a shortish train ride to have a coffee with me just along the coast tomorrow?
