Teva sandals. Hideous? Comfortable? I just don't know

I'm hoping to go to Vegas in August. It's going to be hot and there will be a lot of walking. I have Skechers Go Walks and Bob's (like Toms with a memory foam sole) but I want some comfy open toe shoes too. I can't wear toe post shoes. I've got some Birkenstocksbehind I love but because they're hard soles I find them uncomfortable after a while.
So I was looking at these Teva sandals
Are they hideous? If they are but they're also comfortable I don't think I care so are they comfy?

They are hideous. I'm sorry. Sad

However, they may be like walking on clouds (don't know as am too vain to wear them). In which case, the fugliness might be worth it! Grin

VilootShesCute · 06/07/2016 16:23

I don't know about the teva ones so cannot comment sorry. But I LOVE my saltwater sandals.

Germgirl · 06/07/2016 16:25

Oh dear. I did wonder :(
Bear in mind I'm an overweight 44 year old with very little style. They would be worn with cut off jeans or cropped 'cargo' trousers and a t shirt.
Oh I don't know. I need to see them in the flesh but I can't go out because I'm not well.
I suppose I could always send them back if I get them and hate them

I like the look of saltwaters but are the soles very hard? I'm heavy and my feet ache when I walk around a lot, I like a padded sole

I LOVE Teva. I used to have some I could wear on the beach so they were a kind of synthetic webbing but I think the leather option looks really good. There'll be plenty of people in trainers and all sorts so I think if they're comfy, you should just go for it and not give a shit about what anyone else thinks.

SealSong · 06/07/2016 16:28

They're not hideous at all. Of course they are not fashion sandals, but they will look fine and will give you miles more comfort walking about all day which you will be extremely grateful for, I expect.
When you see what other tourists wear when walking around Vegas you will cease to worry!

elliefredericksen · 06/07/2016 16:28

Saltwater sandals are too thin soled for the amount of walking you'll most likely do.

Tevas are not pretty but they are quite on trend at the moment. In fact Whistles do their own fashion version (which won't be up to lots of walking either). I've got the original style Tevas in black and also white and they are supremely comfortable. They will be just what you need if you can make them work for you style wise. Actually, the slip on versions look nice and maybe a bit less "hiking sandal".

AveEldon · 06/07/2016 16:30

The Teva are better than the Saltwaters

Ffitz · 06/07/2016 16:30

They can't be hideous, I've got some. FYI athleisure is a fashion look this season and these fall into that category surely? Maybe go for a more obviously sporty style to be totally on message.

Helenluvsrob · 06/07/2016 16:31

Honestly? Who cares wear what you feel comfy in to enjoy your holiday.

The teva ones you linked to are fine. I live in " fugly" fit flops. I can walk miles - though have a dodgy joint that will tell me about it when I have.

Saltwater look cute but for anyone beyond 20s and not brought up in a barefoot walking tradition , I can't see the flat , thin sole giving any comfort at all.

NecklessMumster · 06/07/2016 16:35

I really want the teva flatforms (don't know how to link) but don't know if they're comfortable and never see them in shops, plus just cracked my toe bone falling so probably need granny shoes now anyway

ilovecherries · 06/07/2016 16:37

I can vouch for their comfort (but I'm not super stylish!).

charliethebear · 06/07/2016 16:41

I think they are fine, they are not super stylish but they wont look too frumpy, especially the ones linked and will be so comfy.
Plus Asos are selling teva sandals atm so they cant be that unfashionable

expatinscotland · 06/07/2016 16:47

Look, people in Vegas don't care if teh Tevas are 'hideous', which they are not. FWIW, a huge number of people will be running round in them, Chocos or Keens. Because it's very hot, and you will be walking a lot, lot, lot and Tevas are comfortable. Style is meaningless when the soles of your feet are in agony, which they will be in flimsy-soled Saltwaters in 100+ degree heat walking round for miles.

And don't bother packing cropped trous or anything other than shorts, skirts and loose dresses.

expatinscotland · 06/07/2016 16:48

I'm sitting in a place right now that has been reaching 100 degrees every day. People are wearing as little as possible. It's fucking hot. No one cares.

Naicecuppatea · 06/07/2016 16:50

I don't think they're hideous at all. They'll be perfect for lots of walking. No worse than flip flops or Birkies, in fact they're nicer!

DramaAlpaca · 06/07/2016 16:52

I like them & I'd wear them. They look as if they'd be really comfy for walking around in.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 06/07/2016 16:53

They are very comfortable, I have a pair of teva hiking sandals.

They aren't cutting edge fashion but they are supportive and practical for when you are on your feet a long time.

I suffer from heel pain and now I have fucked up my knee so I am all for comfort these days.

KoalaDownUnder · 06/07/2016 16:54

I've just always hated that design - with the little triangle thingy and then the one long strap coming down your foot. I dunno, I do think they are horrible looking.

That said, I'm willing to believe that they've become 'cool-ugly' while I wasn't looking - so maybe I'm totally wrong!

PrimalLass · 06/07/2016 16:59

They are absolutely fine for on holiday.

UnGoogleable · 06/07/2016 17:07

I think they're fine, and no one in Vegas will give a stuff what your feet look like. You'll see all sorts of shapes and sizes of people there - from your classic American tourist with T shirt and bum bag (sorry, Fanny Pack) to 18 year old gazelles on Hen parties.

So you'll just blend in with the crowd. All that matters is that you're comfortable.

I LOVE Vegas, have fun!!!!!

MaryDoloresOHoolihan · 06/07/2016 17:12

They're not hideous at all! I'd wear them. Now Birkenstocks, they are fugley, and everyone wears them, so don't give it a second thought OP. Have a fab time in Vegas!

3perfectweemen · 06/07/2016 17:29

I am the same as yo can't wear between toes. But these I got and so comfortable and they look nicer in person I can wear all day. m.dorothyperkins.com/h5/product?productId=23813874#

oobedobe · 06/07/2016 17:51

I think Teva's are a good choice for a walking vacation. I would also recommend Taos Trophy Sandals, I have a had a pair for 3 years and they are so comfortable, lightweight yet supportive, the leather is very soft so they don't need breaking in. They are also a bit more stylish than a sports type sandal.

asos still have Tevas on sale. www.asos.com/women/a-to-z-of-brands/teva/cat/?cid=20417
