I hope I have remembered the chosen title correctly - I have used Crem's title (think it was Crem's) as the old thread is full.

Herbs - will be fab to have lots of time en famille in the summer but eek re new job on horizon.

Inspired by CV and Rose I have put 10 things on Ebay. They range from size 10 to 16. WTF.

That sounds awful, BD, and I say that as someone who is comfortable under the water.

Well done to CV's DS - what a relief it is for them. It's funny how spag Bol is often what the DC want when they've been away.

Crem, we watched the NI match and were so pleased that they won. Actually we were talking about the home nations yesterday and saying that we were happy for them all to do well (and I include the ROI in that). Everyone's one proviso (which doesn't apply this time) is Scotland. I can't tell you the unpleasantness that can be experienced sometimes up here in the borders. A DFr (who is actually Scottish) was at a hotel up here and when they were leaving was actually told by a random guest "oh, we would talked to you if we'd known you were Scottish, but your DC have English accents....". Not saying that attitude is rife, but you do come across it.

It's raining yet again; really fed up with the weather as we have so much we want to do outside.

Rosebag · 17/06/2016 14:20

Oh gosh BD that must have been terrifying for DS. I would never be able to do that. I admire him for getting this far.

Sorry about your vision mrsS. Is there nothing they can do in the meantime?

Lovely that Crepeys had a good time at the gig. Of course it's a gig! Grin

Woo hoo CV We still have Monday and Tuesday and then it's over. Glad your DS is celebrating. I have heard from other sources that the physics was a bit of a bugger. DD didn't have that as she just did single science. My DS is on the way home from school where he went in to do revision. He texted to say he's In A Mood. Oh joy. Confused. He's a right awkward bugger at the minute.

DD will shortly be finishing her revision for the day and if it doesn't start pissing down, we are going walking. She is grey with lack of fresh air, light and tiredness. I might have to treat us to a scone at the end of the walk.

She'll have to discipline herself to work tomorrow as DH and I have a daytime function. And DS is trying to convince me to come out in the evening to a show in darkest Essex, where ConS is performing at the moment and other peeps we know. It's just a bloody schlep. ConS was a bit po faced when I told him I didn't know if I could be arsed.... Hmm

We sometimes contemplate moving to Scotland, especially post-election and potentially post-Brexit, but fear being hated for being English. As if that's our fault.

bigTillyMint · 17/06/2016 14:48

Oh MsS, just seen your postFlowers
My DFIL has no sight in one of his eyes since having measles as a nipper. Awful, but it's not held him back in terms of working/driving, etc.

Scotland? It's freeeeeezingShock

DD has text to say she is having a great time at the Open Day. Hooray!

CointreauVersial · 17/06/2016 16:36

Heck, MrsS - I missed your measles post. I had no idea it could have long-term consequences! I had measles when I was eight (actually over my birthday, so I'll never forget) and it was definitely the illest I ever felt as a child, but I can't remember anyone being too concerned about it at the time, and (I presume!) I haven't had any problems relating to it since. Nowadays, of course, it's treated like the plague.

Anyway, I'm back home with DS, and he's lolling about the place saying he doesn't know what to do with himself!! It will be a late night for me, I think, as DD2 is apparently still stuck in Calais. The spag bol dinner may have to wait until tomorrow.

hattymattie · 17/06/2016 18:53

Mrs S - sorry to hear about your eyesight - god - getting old sucks.

I had a nice lunch in the end, even with the worthy lady who apparently invited herself, having seen us out lunching previously Confused.

Had a quick drink with friends this evening - the Irish and Welsh boys were out in force - mostly middle aged, nice and well behaved.

Have come home to find DD2 not back yet. Have to go and pick up DS from party. Would have loved to just stay out drinking!

bigTillyMint · 17/06/2016 18:57

Hatty, is there Uber in Paris - loads of teens (including DD) use it here.

Stropperella · 17/06/2016 20:10

Aperol: quite nice, but a bit weird. Discuss.

MrsS, that was damn unfortunate, getting measles. I hope you will have binocular vision for some time yet.

Glad the crepey massive had a good time at the RH gig.

BD am very sorry to hear that ds had a traumatic dive. Hope he can catch it all up and get his certificate. Don't think I could do it, even though I'm quite a stong swimmer - I get claustrophobia under water.

Stropperella · 17/06/2016 20:13

Mojito

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 17/06/2016 21:11

I've got some Aperol in the cupboard, because you all chatted about it. What do I mix it with? And don't say Prosecco, I don't want to crack one of those open! I have ginger ale, lemonade or fizzy water?

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 17/06/2016 21:12

Or I could just finish last Christmas' blackberry vodka? Smile

herbaceous · 17/06/2016 21:18

I recommend red wine.

Blackduck · 17/06/2016 21:27

Beer and wine here.... Missing dp (shush don't tell him... ). Ddad having a tough time with mum. Probably home next weekend to do Father's Day.

Blackduck · 17/06/2016 21:28

Red wine and aperol? I think not!

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 17/06/2016 21:47

I've given up on your suggestions and poured a glass of white! Only ds here. Dd1 is working and dh and dd2 have gone off for Fathers Day Camping (a truly fantastic idea started by a friend of ours which means there are currently about 20 blokes and a thousand children in a field in the rain, leaving all the mums near here on their own, enjoying telly and wine!)

The rain and thunderstorms have been truly quite incredible today. Floods, mud, thunder and lightening!

NUFC69 · 17/06/2016 21:56

Not drinking at all, though DH did offer to open a bottle of red...

MrsS, I, too, missed the post about your eye sight. I am so sorry; is there anything they can do to slow it down. I have never heard of this before.

I hope DD gets home soon, CV, and that your DD copes with the revision by herself tomorrow, Rose.

Are you sure you want to come north for your hols, Herbs? We are growing webbed feet as it is still raining and I really would like to switch off the CH soon.

Stropperella · 17/06/2016 22:03

Aperol and red wine? I can hear Brian shouting to be let out of the cupboard... I think Aperol would work with just fizzy water, ice and a slice of lime. It contains quinine and is therefore clearly also a health tonic, much like G&T.

Dd is deep in exam gloom, which has been only slightly mitigated by a friend with an offer from Cambridge whose assessment of the French and Maths exams so far is the same as hers.

CointreauVersial · 17/06/2016 22:21

DD2 is back, bearing chocolate and cider, and badly in need of a bath. She had a great time!

Hey Rudy, how are you? Hope the RL ishoos are resolving.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/06/2016 23:14

Aperol and white wine would be more of an Aperol Flat, no? I am giggling at hearing Brian shouting to be let out of the cupboard. Actually, I am laughing so much that DH has asked what is so funny. He smirked slightly.

Watching TOTP from what appears to be 1982 on BBC 4. ABC and Bow wow wow. 1982 was a great year. Sex and drugs and rockandroll For fashion not so much.

herbaceous · 17/06/2016 23:19

Ooh no. I didn't mean that aperol and red wine would be good. It would be truly Brian-worthy.

I am blasted knackered. Have a choir concert tomorrow, of beethovens Missa Solemnis, which he wrote when he was both deaf and mad. The sopranos have to endure, as do the audience, a number od sustained top Bs. I am getting a cold, which usually translates to losing my voice, s may. Or be able to sing at all, let alone that kind of nonsense.

News from the Aged Ps is conflicting - mum spoke to sis in the afternoon and was done, then later her current carer spoke to sis and recommended they needed something more hardcore, and. now!

GiddyGiddyGoat · 17/06/2016 23:41

Me too Mrs S - Captain sensible - WTF??
