MontserratCaballe · 27/05/2016 15:26

I hope I have remembered the chosen title correctly - I have used Crem's title (think it was Crem's) as the old thread is full.

Herbs - will be fab to have lots of time en famille in the summer but eek re new job on horizon.

Inspired by CV and Rose I have put 10 things on Ebay. They range from size 10 to 16. WTF.

I said "But I only had three glasses of wine" and was told (I wasn't doing the buying) that they were large glasses - 250ml and I had, in fact, had a bottle, plus some Prosecco. I was slightly pissed (ha!) off with this as I had specified a small glass of wine (as it was just the one, of course) and the glasses were huge with what looked like a small puddle in the bottom.

bigTillyMint · 14/06/2016 06:26

6ish is good for me - really looking forward to itSmile Come along for a drink, MrsS!

Addle and CV, I was looking at that Beauty Box thread, but I haven't succumbed yet....

Cremo · 14/06/2016 10:58

I really want a beauty box after reading that read this morning. or at least a replenishment of my Ren face wash with geranium deliciousness. I don't suppose groceries count towards it Hmm as £40 v easy to spend on pikelets and lunch salads.

I am also in need of a pair of black work shoes and fancy something super pointy with a kitten heel.

motherinferior · 14/06/2016 11:00

Gah. Buying DD2's birthday present, trying to negotiate various US sites...

Rosebag · 14/06/2016 12:13

Have just ordered the shoes below with nice voucher code, and am hoping they'll go with the onjenu dress
25% off and free delivery

Bit worried about the colour not being right though....
So, there's 25% off and free delivery at Boden with code A2P9, in case anyone's interested....

Crem What about what I've just bought in black ? or pointy but not kitten ?

What are you trying to buy, MI

This is a bit of light relief between going under over RE revision with DD. I am now the font of all knowledge of the various scriptures. Dunno about her, though Hmm

motherinferior · 14/06/2016 12:33

Various T-shirts but she isn't set on those identical ones so I may bundle them up in one order from a UK place that also has various stroppy feminist badges she has also requested. And a backpack from a site which reduced me to shouting vv loud swears at the computer.

hattymattie · 14/06/2016 12:43

Rose - I could never keep those on my feet. I like the flats so would be interested in feedback if you have a pair.

I need to get DS an Abercrombie hoodie for his birthday - as he is quite small for his age and his voice hasn't yet broken has anybody opinions on whether to get Xsmall or Small?

GGG - I think your DH is great going on a crepey sortie - my DH would be terrified.

NUFC69 · 14/06/2016 12:55

I like all the shoes, Rose, but like Hatty couldn't keep them on my feet, and that includes the flats.

I was very impressed with my visit to Hexham X-ray department yesterday - no appointment and I was in and out within 30 minutes. DGC day today and, because the forecast was so bad, decided to go to Costco. Needless to say the sun is shining.

Latest news on the BMW gearbox is that DH thinks he's going to take it to Worksop where it will be for 7-10 days (and involve us both driving down twice). BMW customer services have been less than useless. Will we buy another BMW: doubtful?

bigTillyMint · 14/06/2016 13:20

Sorry Hatty, can't advise on Abercrombie as DS has never been into them (prefers street-sport wear) and has never been an S or XSGrin

NU, Hexham always makes me think of the abbey and the Frith Stool - I used to love sitting in it when I was tiny! Glad they had a speedy xray dept too.

CointreauVersial · 14/06/2016 13:48

Hatty - funnily enough, I'm just about to list two Abercrombie hoodies on eBay - too small for DS, and the DDs rejected them. I will look up the sizes when I get home, as it might give you an idea. In general, I would always go for the larger size - there is generally something else worn underneath them, and they are sufficiently pricy that they need to last!!

hattymattie · 14/06/2016 16:57

Ahh thank you CV - I was looking at Small Man rather than children's sizes. He will be 14.

NU - what a chore re gearbox.

Cremo · 14/06/2016 19:07

Rose , you wont believe it, but i tried on those very shoes ( the flat pointy ones) today having sent for them last week! but sadly they are a bit gapey on the sides so are going back. Boo.
The heels are gorgeous, but not for me because gammy leg disallows. Boo x 2. I can go up to an inch and a half , but after that tis agony.
Hence kitten heels. Also went to m&s to view Beauty Box and shoes worth £40 to enable purchase.
Came home with nothing Sadexcept marvellous workout outfit from TU at Sainsbo. Nice shaped leggings and a long top that will hopefully hide Crepey midriff.Smile coral and grey.
Get me and my pilates gear!!!

Sun out here too, by some miracle NU. Glad you had a good experience at xray department and nhs moving in a forward direction.Grin

GiddyGiddyGoat · 14/06/2016 21:56

So BTM, Herbs, Addle, Mrs S - shall we meet at 6pm onwards in the 5th Floor Bar at the RFH? Any other suggestions happily considered... is that time ok? Concert starts 7.30 - so later is fine for anyone who can't make it so early - but let us know when to expect you.

Mrs S will pm you my phone number which I've already sent the others...

bigTillyMint · 14/06/2016 22:11

Yes 6ish on the 5th floor sounds good to me!

MrsSchadenfreude · 14/06/2016 23:16

DH has been huffy and shouty this evening. He asked me if I would fill in a form for DD2's school trip and write a cheque for it, and also write a cheque for DD1's school fees, which we can't do by bank transfer. I said I would do it later. But that wasn't good enough for him, and he has been huffing and crashing around with the printer, demanding stamps, pens, envelopes "because if I leave it for you to do it won't get done." I don't think it hurts him to do a little light child related paperwork occasionally. Particularly as I have done everything related to DD1's big school trip, including shopping, making her fill out visa forms and interminable online forms, and have sorted DD2's ESTA and everything for her holiday in the US. And he has shouted at the cat for being yowly and then falling asleep on the sofa (cat not him). And his friend has postponed their holiday so I'm not going to get two weeks peace in July. Sad

Blackduck · 15/06/2016 06:45

MrsS Angry for you...... Dump the whole lot on him if you are so hopeless.

hattymattie · 15/06/2016 08:05

Mrs S - I don't understand? Why can't he write a cheque and fill out a form?

addle · 15/06/2016 08:17

Cannot bear that sort of huffing, Mrs s. Do remember reading some research years and years ago which suggested that men in domestic setting almost never do what is asked when asked - as though there is something demeaning about that - but do expect an instant response themselves. Why the need fr research you may ask.

I'll probably be about 6.30 tomorrow crepeys. Looking forward to it

Blackduck · 15/06/2016 08:30

Hatty there are so many possible answers to that question.... And to echo Addle its beneath him...

hattymattie · 15/06/2016 08:37

GrinBD.

I am feeling a bit huffy as was having a long planned lunch with two friends and one has invited another lady who is very nice but a worthy type. I feel I can't be relaxed as I might say a rude word and get put on the naughty step. Also we cannot go to the pub where we normally go as Worthy is already going there later and doesn't want to go twice. Fair enough but I was really looking forward to pub lunch with good mates and it has all been changed. I know I'm being mean but harrumphAngry

motherinferior · 15/06/2016 08:39

MrsS, that's two weeks in July when YOU can bog off!

I am going into town for an anniversary thing (with breakfast - am slightly starving as have only had an espresso and a banana) organised by the charity which works on the cancer my mother died of. Because I am rather stupid I have only just realised I may find this a bit upsetting.

Lalsy · 15/06/2016 09:27

MI, hope you feel OK. It is a bit soon Flowers - but I now find when I work on stuff that relates to df (say, a horrible symptom that was under-reported at the time), I can take pride in helping, in a tiny way, push things in the right direction.

MrsS, I am angry for you.

Hatty, I get cross about things like that too.

Rosebag · 15/06/2016 09:30

My shoes have been dispatched. I am hoping I'll be able to keep them on my feet...am a bit worried about that as others have mentioned....

Angry for you MrsS ...with us, DH tends to be of the 'do it now' variety and I'm a bit more 'whenever...' but he likes doing forms and stuff so I get off lightly. And I agree with MI... if DH won't go in July, you will need to absent yourself!

Hatty I feel for you...I am intolerant of "the needs of the one outweighing the needs of the many," and this often happens to me with more "religious" friends, who seem to dictate how the evening is spent, what we can and can't eat... Hmm I think you do have to be yourself though...after all she is being herself isn't she, and not apologising for it...

MI Flowers

DS came home very down after the the French A Level yesterday. He said the paper was awful and apparently the forums seem to agree. This wasn't helped, however by a girl in his class whom he particularly dislikes, telling him afterwards, that he got all sorts of stuff wrong and she thought the paper was easy... Sad

I spent the entire day working with DD on RE revision and she's sitting the first paper now. I am going for a singing less to recover from it all although I am still coughing and this will affect the voice I have no doubt. huh...

Collymollypuff · 15/06/2016 09:49

Sympathy re A levels, Rose. That girl will burn in hell. (Possibly.) I saw some distressed A levellers yesterday, so maybe they had just done French. Trust the forums - it should mean the marking is adjusted accordingly. We are in full-on A level mode - I hate it. Thanks to MI.

herbaceous · 15/06/2016 10:11

Mrs S. How you haven't killed your DH by now is a constant source of amazement.

Brief lull in parental woes broken today by the news that mum phoned the boss of the carer company last night 'disgusted' by the level of care. I think this was prompted by having a new woman in who hadn't yet read the 'book', but not sure.

Am now tussling with my conscience. Sis will be away on holiday for three weeks from 11 July. We are planning to take a week from 23 July. That would mean there'd be a week with no dutiful daughters on tap. Going will mean guilt, staying will mean resentment. Joy.
