MontserratCaballe · 27/05/2016 15:26

I hope I have remembered the chosen title correctly - I have used Crem's title (think it was Crem's) as the old thread is full.

Herbs - will be fab to have lots of time en famille in the summer but eek re new job on horizon.

Inspired by CV and Rose I have put 10 things on Ebay. They range from size 10 to 16. WTF.

There to hold on to you BD. You have a lot of balls in the air that you have little control of. Try and think of yourself first , if you can , while dp is away. Thinking of you. Flowers

So woke up with a big blue bruise on face this morning. Feel like emailing a pic to bloody dental nurse . Sophie if you are reading this, you are a torturer.
Sad

motherinferior · 09/06/2016 14:09

BD, I honestly cannot imagine going through what you're having to put up with. Dementia is an absolute bitch; and so is your work. I lost the plot grand-style, as you all know, under circs that really don't compare (they were damn awful, but we knew they'd end - and I could bang out work at my laptop, with lovely tolerant editors).

Would a dark'n'stormy in the smoke help soon?

Or even a little jaunt of a few Crepeys to chez vous?

x

Lalsy · 09/06/2016 15:04

BD, I am so sorry you have such a grim plateful. Try to look after yourself Flowers.

Rosebag · 09/06/2016 15:55

Hugs and support to you BD. So sorry things are this bloody tough Flowers

Crem Shock She shouldn't be allowed to get away with such dangerous wielding of the aspirator or anything for that matter. Next time tell her to STOP. Flowers

Have been to lucrative client today and then to pick up DD from Maths calculator paper. Then took her to get another ear piercing, which was part of her birthday present for last month. She has a day to two off revision as only the two RS papers left and each are 5 days apart.

AND in S&B news... this little beauty arrived today and, it is quite fabulous...it fits...almost a bit loose. I feel all floaty and princess-like in it although will need Spanx and a Hello Rabbi brassiere

Nothing makes my day when I put somethings and it f*&king, bloody fits

On a slight more serious but related note, I must recommend Debenhams Debut as a brand for evening dresses. Not cheapo cheap but very affordable if you go to a lot of black tie type functions I have often lucked out with it. My original red Hello Rabbi dress was from there plus a few other gems. The dresses are really cut for women like me, tallish with large hips and thighs.

feast your eyes

NUFC69 · 09/06/2016 16:01

Bad, it all sounds grim; try to make some time for yourself Flowers Why don't you take up MI's offer.

Crem, Ooch, that sounds painful (and colourful).

I was hanging out the washing while DH too DGS to school this morning when he came rushing back: one of my friends, also on drop off duty, had inadvertently locked the toddler in the car with the car keys. She thinks she must have caught the door catch and put it on. We got out our car and rushed back up the road to friend and car. DH drove her home to get her spare keys while I stood entertaining the prisoner - people must have thought I was mad, pulling faces and playing peekaboo to an 'empty' car. Fortunately the car was in the shade and it was 9 am so no real threat to the lo. So fortunate, though, that DH saw my friend.

Much nicer day than was forecast - pity I had to spend the morning in a stuffy room.

bigTillyMint · 09/06/2016 16:23

Aww BD, I'm around this weekend if you're down this way and need a D&S shoulder or anything?

Rose I am Envy of that lovely dress and the possibility of going to somewhere that warrants a long frock.

NUFC69 · 09/06/2016 16:49

I like the long dresses, too, Rose: stands with BTM with her nose pressed against the window watching Rose wear her posh frock.

motherinferior · 09/06/2016 18:09

I am also Envyof people who can wear a frock like that without tripping over a metre of extra fabric Grin

Cremo · 09/06/2016 19:25

Wow what a frock Rose -fab u las. Also wel-jel about having somewhere to go in it.Envy
Face going yellow, but temp crown he put in has fallen out. This is a new nhs dentist, because I decided my old private dentist was taking the proverbial in terms of ££££.Shock now having second thoughts. It never rains eh?.......

hattymattie · 09/06/2016 19:40

Checking in again to send hugs to BD and to say Rose that dress oscar winning stuff - when do you have the occasion to wear it?

My classroom management skills have increased 10 fold in the last few days. I have had to abandon my jolly classroom assistant persona and be much sterner.

France is still falling apart with the bin men, the trains and the Air France Pilots who get about 40K a month and have no sympathy from me. Still, at least the weather is nice (finally).

MrsSchadenfreude · 09/06/2016 20:36

BD - sorry things are shit. I am also around on Saturday if you need a dark and stormy or indeed any kind of company and/or sustenance.

Everything on my "to do" list has now become "urgent and important", two people are off next week, so that leaves, err, me.

Good news - recent biopsy was benign. Phew. Didn't fancy having a bit more of my face removed. Better news - someone who was a shit to me in a previous job has just been demoted. Grin

bigTillyMint · 09/06/2016 20:44

That's good news, MrsS. Phew.

That's not good news, Cremo. Eeeek.

That's good news, Hatty. High Five.

DD and DS are going for a bike ride because they are bored. That'll be because they don't have any revision to doGrin

bigTillyMint · 09/06/2016 21:47

Blimmin' eck! Whilst out on their ride, DS got pushed off his bike by some low-life on mopeds. Bumped his knee and gave them both a shock. I reported it and the plods just came round and said it's a group of youths who've been creating havoc all evening around the borough. DS has an ice pack on his knee and thinks I'm making a fussHmm

Blackduck · 09/06/2016 22:06

Thanks for the support. Can't come down this weekend as have ds and dp flies out tomorrow. Will post more when I feel more articulate.

MrsS is that's the person we had convo about in the past?

CointreauVersial · 09/06/2016 23:10

BD - don't let that black dog in! Talk to us instead. Flowers

What a relief, MrsS.

Nice dress, Rose - very slinky!

Blimey, BTM. Glad DS isn't too fussed by it all. There was a big punch-up right outside our office windows today (a couple of travellers having a bit of argy bargy about a mobile phone, from what we could hear) - certainly livened up our lunch hour.

In GCSE World, DS had a bit of a knock to his confidence today, as Unit 2 Maths was really tough. He was almost in tears when he spoke to me afterwards, poor lamb. He has worked so hard, but this paper was always going to be a challenge, as it covered topics which he hasn't been taught (Higher paper and he's in lower set). It makes next week's final Maths paper all the more critical. Anyway, to his credit, he picked himself up, and we sat down together for a couple of hours this evening to cram for tomorrow's Biology.

And tomorrow, I have a Day Off! First one in 2016. It's DH's birthday, so he's off too. We will probably slob about, maybe go out for lunch....nothing taxing.

bigTillyMint · 10/06/2016 08:38

Poor DS, CV - well done him for KOBO.

DS said his knee hurts and limped off to school this morning - no footy tonight, methinks. Hopefully it's just badly bruised.

herbaceous · 10/06/2016 09:41

All this talk of Palafrugell has got me googling and AirBnB-ing as a potential holiday. DP has declared that with his pay off, he'd like a sunny European holiday as well as our week in Northumberland! Result! He was first talking about visiting some friends in Cambodia, but has thought again...

So, we want somewhere not too touristy, yet with stuff to do, lovely beaches (preferably covey), a little house/flat, garden, pool and nice food. Not much to ask surely!

CointreauVersial · 10/06/2016 11:06

Ooh, holiday planning, how lovely! How about Corsica? We had our honeymoon there.

Well, a very different DS phoned just now after his Biology exam - really buzzing about how well he thinks he did. Fingers are firmly crossed - this is one of his A level choices so he needs a decent result.

I'm having a very indulgent day off - ladyjog first thing, helped DH open his birthday gifts, school run, then a looong soak in the bath with posh bath salts, a hair treatment, a cappuccino and Ken Bruce. Grin DH is having a quick round of golf, then we're off for lunch at local gastropub - only a mile up the road and we've never been there, after 7+ years in this house.

Cremo · 10/06/2016 11:45

Gosh CV that is the life innit?
What a gorgeous day to have planned. EnvyGrin

Btm sorry to hear of ds's accident, poor sod. Hope knee not serious.

Ooh Herbs- result indeed!
So many places from which to choose. How much heat do you want?
Portugal has beautiful cove beaches, ( Praia do Castelo or Praia do Oura are beaut) as does France near the Spanish border- Collioure for instance or further south onto Spain as previously described.
Less heat id go for Western France. Perhaps fly to La Rochelle and head for either the Île de Ré ( soft sand pretty villages quite chichi? ) Or go south to Vaux sur mer for lovely cove beach and laid back family area with fab seafood.
Sigh......

BD - Ah shit, I'm sorry. Wish that dog to kennels far away.

CV - your day - and DH's - sounds fab so far.

BTM I'm furious for your DS, poor guy. Coincidentally, me and DD2 were at the mega Sainsbury's down our way last night and three mopeds (with 2 people on each) came screeching down along the front where the trolleys are, and we literally had to rush out of their way. Really intimidating. I wonder whether they might the same lunatics?

Herbs hol sounds great.

Crem your rubbish dental assistant reminded me of not piping up during a rather too intimate massage in Turkey. I felt all sorts of weird afterwards for not saying 'WTF?'

Mrs S - hoorah for your all clear and git's demotion.

Crepies I had a storm in a teacup this morning that feels really horrible:

I am wailing with PMT and have fallen out with my next door neighbour Blush. Their wild four year old smacked me in the street! On my hand/arm as I was talking to the mum and when after I'd said 'we don't smack people,' (urrgh, hate that prissy 'we') did it rather harder on my bum! I didn't handle it very well: sent a couple of pissy texts about how it really wasn't alright, when I shouldn't have sent anything at all as like I said, my PMT is on full ROAR. Neighbour who is lovely but v work stressed rang up all angry and I apologised for the texts... and now it feels all bruised and has totally muddied the fact the kid should not be smacking people. Sometimes I can't keep my powder dry and go it too strong and it totally undermines any point I have.

herbaceous · 10/06/2016 12:28

Oh Lordy, WAF. sounds like the sort of thing I'd do. Maybe lie low for a bit, then do a 'hahahaha I'm mad me' kind of apology in a week's time.

In career news:

  1. I didn't even get shortlisted for the TA job at DS's school. For bloody fuxk's sake.
  1. Friend yesterday convinced me to resign from shit adult ed job, now, giving minimal notice. But another convinced me this morn that I should stick it out until end of term for sake of cv. Looks better if I've completed an academic year...
wordassociationfootball · 10/06/2016 13:02

Herbs, speaking from here - in my pool of wet powder - I'd say friend two might be right, although friend one has it in my heart. You can give them both barrels when you say you're not coming back but given not only look of cv but also references in the future, maybe you should hang on? Interested in what other crepey input will be.

Thanks too, for 'the sort of thing that I'd do.' I've got 30 11 year olds and a bouncy castle tomorrow which is a scary, scary prospect. Am necking b-vits, kalms and Rescue Remedy. I get this kind of pmt every few months. V bad timing. Just need to roll around in a cave.

Hatty - found myself this morning feeling v pleased for you that your confidence in teaching is growing. (hope your establishment will properly reward you)

bigTillyMint · 10/06/2016 13:27

WAF, you aren't in the wrong - the child shouldn't be behaving like that. The mum needs a wake-up call and to either change her parenting style or seek help.

Herbs, shame about the TA job - can you get any feedback? And I guess the sensible option is to carry on till the EOT if that means a decent reference and to put on your CV?

Rosebag · 10/06/2016 14:57

Relieved to hear the good news, MrsS Smile on both counts!

Shock tilly

CV boo to the maths paper, and hurrah for the biology one Smile Have a nice day with DH.

Hatty you sound like the career is going really well!

Oh WAF you poor love. OK, I'm hoiking my bosom and saying that if the mother concerned didn't at least deal with the offending DC in some way, with at least an attempt to teach him that randomly walloping one's neighbour isn't a great move, you can't be criticised too harshly for saying something. I wouldn't apologise to grovelingly....

Herbs the EOT isn't too far away, I guess but exploitation of clever and valuable staff does set my teeth on edge. They don't really deserve your loyalty, do they?

Thanks all, for the approval of my new frock. I should add that I do not, in any way, look like the model does in it... Hmm Grin Envy And believe me all these "functions" that I have to go to, whilst they are lovely S&B opportunities, and reasons to spend money on clothes which we do love, don't we..., they get boring after the first 100...

motherinferior · 10/06/2016 15:07

I'm hoiking about horrid child too.

Herbs, a full year would look much much better if you can just bear it...

BD, kennel that doggy!

V pleased for both MrsS and CV. I am hugely looking forward to the weekend as is Mr Inferior though doubtless he is expecting tirelessly inventive sex whereas I fancy a liein. And following the attentions of some rather fetching tree surgeons in a neighbouring garden (I kept a very close eye Wink) my office, the kitchen and DD2's room are light again!

WAF, if your DD2 is smallish I may have some uniform for her if you'd like.
