I hope I have remembered the chosen title correctly - I have used Crem's title (think it was Crem's) as the old thread is full.

Herbs - will be fab to have lots of time en famille in the summer but eek re new job on horizon.

Inspired by CV and Rose I have put 10 things on Ebay. They range from size 10 to 16. WTF.

AddleShock She is finished? She only just went, surely?!

MI, pleased it went well, but not surprised you feel complicated. Take it easy.

Herbs, hope you managed to get out of the kitchen and didn't watch the documentary made by a dementia-sufferer last night. It was really interesting, but maybe not what you need right now!

Stropps, glad to see you are still here in the revision-fest that is surely going on chez vousWinkSmile

herbaceous · 03/06/2016 09:25

I escaped, only for mum to say 'are you ok?' And nearly setting me off again. Then all three of us watched the documentary about dementia! It was indeed interesting, and not too depressing. My dad is miles worse than the subject...

Have to sort out an accountant today to sort out the tax. What a palaver.

bigTillyMint · 03/06/2016 10:00

Herbs, yes so is DM. But I also think it manifests differently in different people. Has your dad had an assessment or anything? He is probably entitled to the full amount of Attendance Allowance (not means tested) and your DM may be entitled to some sort of carers allowance and definitely some support Flowers

wordassociationfootball · 03/06/2016 10:53

I wanted a good perve at Versailles but it didn't seem to be on my telly Confused so I watched a surreal channel flicking combo of Le Weekend (with lovely Lindsay Duncan and Jim B) and Love Island which I find fascinating.

MI take it easy this weekend if you can.

I find my relationship with my Dad (died - at own hand - in 1997) evolving all the time. He was a narcissistic, volatile philandering, depressive who was musical, had a wonderful smile and moments of great compassion and understanding. I couldn't have written those positive words even five years ago.

Cremo · 03/06/2016 12:55

Oh Waf, that's really tough to have to come to terms with. Flowers Impressed that you have moved forward. That takes a lot of strength

Versailles was indeed a bit of a romp,, in a long-haired kind of way [swish],
but Peaky Blinders is pure filth. I have to say though, it is one of the best written things on telly. Just enough intrigue to be one step ahead of the viewer. Fab.

another 12 (XII, twelve) hour shift here in the Dark Office Of Doom.I am actually getting some work done as it's quiet. Sadly the sun is splitting the trees and I am missing 'garden time'.Boo
Hold fast you people in the east, warmth is coming back to you on Sunday. Star

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/06/2016 13:21

Waves wanly with lack of sleep and mild hangover. Looking forward to coming home tomorrow for a liver detox. And DH said he will pick me up from the airport. Shock

Lalsy · 03/06/2016 13:26

Oh WAF Flowers. I agree about evolving. My df died many years ago, leaving much family stuff unresolved, and my memory is very blurred by his last illness - but as I get older I see more sides of his personality and relationships and some things have become clearer.

MI, glad it went OK and yes take it easy, and there is no deadline for making sense of family.

Crem, you blarney brilliantly!

bigTillyMint · 03/06/2016 14:42

WAF, I too am only just coming to that point too - my father (who I adored as a small child) was an alcoholic but also a gregarious, generous and principled man who was very much liked by everybody.
Families are tricky. Especially on this thread Grin

Cremo, you poor thing - there must be a job out there that deserves you and doesn't require 12 hour shifts Flowers

MrsS, result!

I have escaped to reward myself with my free cake and coffee from JL, having got both the DC and myself jabbed for the summer. I have purchased a lovely Liberty Linen top from Uniqlo which will probably look like a dish rag in the sweaty heat Grin

Cremo · 03/06/2016 15:02

I bought the blue Liberty shirt Btm, which top did you get?

The upside of doing 24 hours all at once is thats me done for the whole week. Grin

addle · 03/06/2016 15:55

Remind me what sweaty heat this is you talk of, BTM? ESP as I've just changed into warmer boots, vest and jumper.
Glad it went well MI. Go easy on yourself. I don't think you ever stop thinking these relationships through.

Auriga and Molly - exhibition was small (2 rooms) but utterly delightful. Highly recommended.

bigTillyMint · 03/06/2016 16:24

Cremo, it was this
I like your thinking re work!

Addle, it's Vietnam. Hopefully not too sweaty in most parts! And not till 31st July. It's freeeeeezing here - heating is back on!

Blackduck · 03/06/2016 17:20

Sunny and warm here Grin

hattymattie · 03/06/2016 17:23

Freezing and flooded here.

bigTillyMint · 03/06/2016 17:47

At least it's only freezing here Hatty! Is the flooding nearby you?

Oh you Lucky Duck Envy

Rosebag · 03/06/2016 17:55

Hello from my sick bed. Not doing well at this end... still feeling very rough and have added an intractable headache to the throat and cold symptoms. Feeling like I'm letting DD down by not sitting with her whilst she's revising...to be fair to her she's worked from 9-5 literally. Its just so soul destroying when she knows the stuff really well, and can talk about it very eloquently but can't express it in writing very well.

It's freezing here too. I haven't ventured out of the door, and we have the heating going and sweaters on. Its hard too imagine being sweaty, but that is a very nice top Tilly. I know linen gets panned for creasing, but it's probably the least sweaty fabric there is...

The mixed emotions about memories of DParents are very poignant, WAF Tilly. How are you MI? Flowers

On a minor but annoying S&B note, I am frustrated by the Debenhams website, which has locked me out of my account as I was trying to buy this and this for various upcoming functions. Hmm

motherinferior · 03/06/2016 17:56

I was soooo cold yesterday. The lovely silk tunic stayed in my suitcase and I wore the black silk velvet East frock I got from the charity shop!

Have taken most of today off and lolled around and then DP drove us out for a little pootle round a Kent village (including scones, obviously) while the Inferiorettes took themselves off shopping/with New Boyf respectively.

DP's older brother coming to lunch tomorrow. Apparently he has been having hassle with the local gun club, which he runs or something.Confused Nice bloke but really...

CointreauVersial · 03/06/2016 17:58

Hatty - was hearing on the BBC news all about the flooding in Paris. Hope it hasn't inconvenienced you too much. Certainly no sign of sweaty weather here (I'm in a jumper) but I have rashly purchased BBQ fare on the promise of a sunny Sunday.

I'm just back from the opticians. I have a new pair of varifocals that I can actually see with (I can't believe how bad the previous pair were, and how long I persisted with them, just assuming blurred vision was part of the deal). Some snazzy new freebie shades. AND I am currently trialling soft contact lenses! Not the varifocal sort (I need toric lenses for the astygmatism, and they don't make toric varifocal apparently) - I've gone for one eye distance, and one eye reading. I can see well enough, but my brain is going...errr.....something not quite right here..... But I'm hoping they turn out to be more comfortable than the hard ones, which are just torture to wear nowadays.

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/06/2016 18:38

Still scorchio here, peeps, have spent the afternoon on the beach and had a paddle. I could live here. I have Ostalgia

hattymattie · 03/06/2016 18:57

I remember flooding about 15 years ago so I made sure we bought a house at the top of the hill. At the bottom, driving back from work, I could see it's flooded - quite spectacularly over fields, the race track and I suspect any houses down at the bottom athough I haven't been to inspect the built up area.

MI - you can keep the silk tunic for a happier occasion.

Have been working all week and DD2 had her English and History exams - equivalent to English A levels. I had to drop her at school at 7.15 and got to my school at 7.30. They are now all at the pub with their teachers. The French part of the bac isn't till 20th June! My school kids were quite nice today, contrary to expectations. (maybe I'm just getting stroppier and more teacher like).

bigTillyMint · 03/06/2016 20:09

Pub? En France?! Glad to hear you are knocking the enfants into shape!

Blackduck · 03/06/2016 20:15

Warm and sunny Grin

bigTillyMint · 03/06/2016 20:40

Stop it!

So glad we had a beautiful couple of days when we went up to see DM - most unusually!

Stropperella · 03/06/2016 20:56

Had a very busy day here - went with friends and their boys to go crabbing on the pier at West Bay (where they film Broadchurch). Had some nice naff fish and chips for lunch, but my stomach is now telling me that it is still delicate and lunch was a bad plan. Slight downer was when talk turned to Brexit and both my friends were pro Brexit and the dh of one of them is going to be on the TV next week arguing in favour of the UK leaving the EU. I was all wtf Hmm but do clearly need to hone my arguments.
This afternoon, we rushed back home in order to go to the cinema with db and his ds2 to watch the latest Marvel extravaganza. The film was interrupted halfway through by someone a few rows in front throwing up copiously in their seat and across the whole front of the auditorium on the way out. The staff stopped the film and came in and cleared up and disinfected everything. When they had finished, they got a spontaneous round of applause and shouts of "They should pay you more!" Dd said the person doing most of the cleaning was in her year at school. She also said she didn't fancy getting a job at the cinema. Grin

bigTillyMint · 03/06/2016 21:32

Eeeuuuuwww on both counts Stropps!

The number of people comin out of the woodwork in favour of Brexit is increasing by the day.

Lalsy · 04/06/2016 08:56

Love the round of applause, Stropps!

I have been struck since the beginning by who some of the Leavers are. They picked the wrong headliners for sure but behind them are the likes of David Owen making cogent arguments - I disagree with him but he is rational and international in outlook, IMO. Uni parents - remind your dc to sort their vote out for where they will be - young people are going to count for a lot!
