Ok, be honest. Are white jeans awful?

Every summer I covet a pair of white jeans to hopefully look like this photo. I can never seem to find them. I order lots of pairs online but they all seem to be baggy on the back of my thighs and look really frumpy! I'm usually a size 10 but have a big womanly bottom so maybe that's my problem.
Am I deluded? Are white jeans really naff? Think I've lost all confidence with clothes since turning 40!
Any advice from you stylish people gratefully received.

If they're good enough for Ms Alt...

squoosh · 13/05/2016 14:57

It's a scientific fact that fashiony French type actually repel dirt.

squoosh · 13/05/2016 15:01

It's okay Frosty you don't need to pretend you have back fat to comfort me. Grin

I saw two women of a certain age both having lunch wearing identical white Armani jeans. It was a no from me.

BackforGood · 13/05/2016 15:10

This ---> I think it would be quite stressful wearing white jeans

Not that I've ever seen a pair looking good on anyone above about a current day size 6 or 8, but, even if they did look good when you tried them on in the shop, how practical would they be for real life ?

Ilovewillow · 13/05/2016 15:11

I always wear them in the summer and I'm 40+, try Boden skinny white jeans, lovely!

Wellhellothere1 · 13/05/2016 15:16

Frostycake-Alavere appears to be a village in Estonia. If I go there will I turn into a size 10 with long legs and a thigh gap? Wink

Save me a seat will you squoosh ?

squoosh · 13/05/2016 15:24

It's a 42 seater. You can have a 'cool kids' seat at the back with me.

Frostycake · 13/05/2016 16:09

Wellhellothere1 Blush is it? Bugger.

It used to be called Alizone but changed its name to Ali-something else. May be Alivere, Alavere? God knows.

I like the idea of a coach to Estonia though! Grin

Very, very naff imho. Can't stand white jeans. Simultaneously middle-aged and tacky. But I hate white clothes in general so maybe I'm weird.

Becoolio · 13/05/2016 16:12

Funnily enough I saw someone in white jeans and flat pumps today and thought how lovely she looked. I haven't worn them for years as wondering the same as op.

Frostycake · 13/05/2016 16:14

Now for the next question.

Do you wear them rolled, ankle-skimming, zipped, folded, frayed, long, flared?

MrsCampbellBlack · 13/05/2016 16:18

Embraces being middle aged and tacky.

I wear them ankle length and either with a slouchy t or thin shirt often chambray in the classic half tuck. Or with a navy silk cami. Shoe wise I tend to wear with some tan apc wedge sandals.

DameXanaduBramble · 13/05/2016 16:42

Jeez, short hair and I wear white jeans. If it was up to MN I'd never leave the house through fear of being laughed at.

squoosh · 13/05/2016 16:46

Doesn't MN love short hair?

Kennington · 13/05/2016 16:50

If they are good enough for the editor of Paris vogue then I will wear.
the key is not to keep them immaculate white and to wear them will other really plain clothes

DameXanaduBramble · 13/05/2016 16:55

It's divided, squoosh, you usually get the middle age, tacky remarks with that too.

Littlelondoner · 13/05/2016 16:58

I love white jeans & I am far from being middle aged.

I wear them with chambray, cornflowers blues and soft greys. Usually something oversized on top. Like a baggy bretto top or shirt half tucked in. Usually with tan sandals or ballet pumps.

So versitile.

Mine are cheapo ones from zara (but they are the best fitting ones I have found!) I refuse to pay over £60 for white jeans as I am not quite that brave and worry how they they will last.

mumofthemonsters808 · 13/05/2016 17:02

I really like mine, but I only wear them in the summer. My best fitting pair are from Primark and are high waisted and the leg length is perfect They were only £12 and have been washed many times and still maintained their shape.
