The Crepey Buds Of May

GiddyGiddyGoat · 30/04/2016 19:49

Err, how did that happen with no one noticing!
It's because we're all on the dark and stormy, sloe gin and prosecco innit.

Sorry for the not v inspired title but I panicked.

Cremo, sounds like a fabulous idea Wine

Blackduck · 05/05/2016 06:57

I'm in Cremo :)

Rose glad things are going well!

Get out and vote everyone! Even if, as in my case, it's only for those police thingies.....

Last full day of my pre-teen ds sob

addle · 05/05/2016 07:30

enjoy ds last day of childhood BD ...

Cremo - sounds wonderful - any chance, if possible, of making it second half of September? Flowers

hattymattie · 05/05/2016 07:36

Cremo - could I come? Keep me posted though - I'm likely to be over for University drop offs - so could try to work it in. Still have braces on my teeth and look like a 12 year old though.

motherinferior · 05/05/2016 08:37

Teenagers are fab, BD. I love mine to bits.

Heading off back east. I do think DP could have picked a different day to have a row about the books piled up on the floor and his Dear Dead Mother's Special Bookshelf.

herbaceous · 05/05/2016 09:50

I am also in, Cremo. If it weren't massively inconvenient to everyone except a few North London crepeys, I'd suggest taking over my local Gingo night - it's bingo, but with gin! And comperes in housecoats and turbans! And shit prizes!

Lalsy · 05/05/2016 10:11

Oooh sounds lovely, Crem!

Herbs, how pants about the contract.

BD, enjoy - and teens are soooo fab.

Lalsy · 05/05/2016 10:12

And MI, he could indeed....

magimedi · 05/05/2016 10:18

I am back from trip to France & have just finished catching up with you all. Some effort!!

Sympathy to all of you who are having trying times with jobs, teenagers & AP's & my special thoughts to MI at this very stressful time. Flowers

I won't bore you all with tales of PFGD except to say that she is just utterly amzing, beautiful & so cute. There were moments when I was holding her when it felt just like having DS back in my arms as a babe. Very special.

The weather was not good, except for a couple of days. Woke up on May Day to 6" of snow. But they are at 3,000ft up in the Alps. The snow melted quickly at our level & seeing the snow capped mountains with the fresh green of the trees below all bathed in sun was really stunning.

In ten days or so I looked at the internet twice for about 5 minutes. Can't remember the last time I was off line for so long & it was very refreshing.

Lovely DIL made her famous match pies which were amazing so I unknowingly kept up with the crepey pie chat!

Washing machine is whirling like mad - am thankful for the decent drying weather.

Cremo · 05/05/2016 10:31

welcome home MM. Sounds like a gorgeous trip.chat away about pfbgc. Smile

Yes Hatty of course and all others living not in London too OF COURSE and wearing braces , all colours of hair and whatever way you make pies.
I will update as time progresses.
Suggestions for a resto or venue would be super.

Cat has caught a rabbit this morning and is causing a war of attrition with a coupe of magpies , who would like said bunny. Nightmare and very LOUD.

Dreamqueen · 05/05/2016 11:30

Trying to catch up. I'm semi incommunicado for the moment. Only getting to glance briefly at my phone.
No drama but incredibly tedious.

wordassociationfootball · 05/05/2016 13:41

Hmmm pies. MM everything on that Gruan link sounds delicious. And as a gf-er that pastry sounds good.

CV - as per Crem's Claryisms - give him the clap he so richly deserves.

Rosebag · 05/05/2016 14:45

magi welcome back! Pfgd sounds very lovely.

Dq hope all is ok.

crem ooohhhh what kind of a party? Is it a new frock opportunity kind of a party....tea at the Ritz kind of a party? Sounds brilliant !

Have taught a three hour day time class, have voted although wanted to put "none of the above" on my ballot paper...., have done my walk in the sunshine and am now fannying around on the iPad in a local caff instead of clearing up from the class and any number of semi important domestic duties. Isn't the weather just divine ? Is there anything more beautiful than a perfect spring day? I feel the need to get a pedicure and a wax... Hmm

Cremo · 05/05/2016 15:05

Rosebag cheers from another coffee place here, where I have been browsing charity shops and managed to find a few things for dd which I will be sending with local bread, veggie Percy pigs and a tesco voucher to keep her going through the exams.

Things I am aiming for re party:
Central or south bank London
Gin ( and cocktails)
Dressed up but not full cocktail wear
More than nibbles delicious food sharing or 2 course dinner.
Prosecco 'clock
As many crepeys as poss

Also looking into renting an apt with living room enough for a possible party. There are a few on air b&b. And sharing said apt with any Crepeys who need accom. in London.
Yay something to look forward to!

Herbs I like the idea of the Gingo. How is the gin incorporated ??

hattymattie · 05/05/2016 15:15

Crem - it sounds fabulous - although gin knocks me out so I'll stick to wine Wink

motherinferior · 05/05/2016 16:05

Greetings from the not so far east. The Incredible Surviving Woman continues to defy all medical pronouncements: once again GP says she doesn't expect her to last the weekend. That'll be three weekends in a row, then.

It is quite horrid, in truth - there's nothing of 'her' left, despite dad's insistence that she does respond occasionally; and also there's not a lot of point in me being here, I think. I'll probably go home after tomorrow's GP/district nurse confab. Though who knows...?

wordassociationfootball · 05/05/2016 16:22

Oh MI Sad

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 05/05/2016 16:24

I'm in, excellent idea. And for sleepover too Smile

I seem to have gone into a post-resignation catatonic state. I'm not 'doing' anything, just sort of being. I've read a whole book in three days, but the house looks a tip. Help!

bigTillyMint · 05/05/2016 16:35

Cremo that sounds fabuloso - count me in for everything Grin

MI, that sounds like a sensible idea.

Beachy, I think you probably need a couple of weeks to debrief yourself don't you? Are you on gardening leave or properly finished?

herbaceous · 05/05/2016 17:26

It's my life's ambition to be given gardening leave.

Cremo - gin is incorporated because the venue is a gin distillery and bar, which concocts lethal gin cocktails. It's called Mother's Ruin!

MI - grimness. Even if you don't feel there's much point, you'll be glad you were there. Afterwards. Like.

Beachy - I think you've transferred any activity to me, tipping me over into Blue Arsed Fly. Today I've applied for web/comms job at the East End school, planned a lesson, pulled up ivy in the garden, traipsed to the far side of the City for an interview with a teaching agency, raced back, picked up DS from school, and voted. Feel buggered.

bigTillyMint · 05/05/2016 17:30

Is that all Herbs?Grin Don't hold your breath for gardening leave - I have never heard of it in EducationSad

herbaceous · 05/05/2016 17:48

Oh no. I've never been in a job where it's remotely likely either. i've always been too lowly.

It tends to be given out in 'commercially sensitive' jobs, doesn't it. And well paid ones.

CointreauVersial · 05/05/2016 18:02

My garden would certainly benefit from a spell of gardening leave. No hope there - I'm getting busier and busier. Company is expanding.

YY to crepey parties, gin and posh dresses - I'm in!

I did a dawn ladyjog today, then off to work....quick dash to theatre after work to pick up tickets for tonight. I parked at the front of the theatre in a lay-by which has double-yellow lines (a pointless lay-by), stuck on my hazards and jumped out.....lo and behold, a traffic warden materialised out of nowhere. I swear she must have been hiding behind a tree. Anyway, I said, hopefully "is it OK if I just run in to collect some tickets?" "No it's not OK", she said....."but go on, then." Shock I think I should inform the press. Reasonable Traffic Warden Discovered Alive and Well in Surrey Town.

At least there was no need to rush to a polling station - I popped my vote in the post at least ten days ago. Police Commissioner? No idea. But aquaintance is standing for local council so that was easier to vote for.

Lalsy · 05/05/2016 18:15

I am shattered, with or without gardening leave. Voting was the last straw - what wormhole have all those small "British" parties crawled out from Shock?

MI, I would follow your gut. You will be glad about some of the conversations and being such a support to them while your dm needed you, but that stage may be gone. If going backwards and forwards a lot works for you, then go with that?
