Help me find a dress please

Thanks for all the shoe help - am going to report back after a trip to town at the weekend. :)

Now I need dress help, please!

I want a proper, old fashioned, cotton sundress. Sleeveless. Fitted waist. Fullish skirt. Not too garish or expenisve. Nothing like Vivienne of Holloway etc. Must be a real shop. I like black, black and white, red, pink, grey, possibly yellow or purple. I don't like blue, green. A pattern is fine if not too big.

Thanks in advance for anybody feeling patient!

Seasalt

Fit and Flare House of Fraser

LOVE the Warehouse one. :)

too floral?

polyhymnia · 20/04/2016 18:47

My first ports of call would be Hobbs and LKB. Maybe Whistles. Maybe Comptoir des Cotonniers.
I also think Boden very likely to have dresses such as you describe but guess they're not a 'proper shop'.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/04/2016 18:56

Thanks, everyone. Flowers

Too floral one not too floral, but too white.

LKB far too £££.

HOF a pain, as I can't see what's cotton and what isn't.

Not fond of the stripes on the Oasis one. Hobbs one too 'posh' and wishy washy in colour, but I like the shape. Too expensive though - I'm after something for schlepping around in.

Not what I'm after but love this except for the colour.

Nothing on Seasalt - Bluesville!

Joe Brown?

Diddlydokey · 20/04/2016 19:22

I got something similar from m&co previously but nothing on there now. Cotton is expensive

tethersend · 20/04/2016 19:22

Bit pricey but silk

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/04/2016 19:38

Lovely, Tethers, but too posh. I just want a simple sort of 'school run' thing, for sticking on and schlepping around in. One that won't matter if I dribble icecream on it, or sit on the grass or whatever.

Perfect but white. :(

Love the yellow (although the neck might be a bit high) but I want a real shop. Don't like blue. Sorry to be a pain.

Not a real shop, but love this

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/04/2016 20:50

Thanks, Fred. Not what I'm after though - not cotton.

fredabear · 20/04/2016 20:51

realised that as soon I I posted, sorry (might have to get it though!)

Worth looking in Sainsburys when they get their summer stuff in. Last year I got a ton of 100% cotton dresses as you describe (a printed sleeveless shirt dress with full skirt, prom style one and a short sleeved black broderie anglaise shirt dress with full skirt and belt. They were about 20 quid each.

emsyj · 20/04/2016 20:59

Similar to the Hobbs one you like but cheaper: tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/p/Navy-Schiffli-Lace-Dress/129671067-Navy

There are a few others on there worth a look.
