I passed my driving test first time after 8 lessons. My instructor drove me back saying "I don't believe this, I simply don't believe it." I hate driving and am not a good driver.

I have a small hangover and need to get up and go to work.

Thank you, Rudy.

I too have slight hangover having consumed various alcoholic beverages with dad and DSis. He is planning to travel again after she dies, which we heartily approve of.

I keep thinking I hear my mother's voice. A bit of me keeps expecting her to come into the room, aged 45 and very irritating. In reality she is lying next door. But isn't in pain (yay) and has pretty well stopped throwing up. My guess is a few more days. But I have no idea. Selfishly I do not know how long this can be sustained.

magimedi · 22/04/2016 09:38

Selfish is the last word I would use about you, MI.

I remember when my Dad died, it was over quite a few days & I have never, before or since, been through anything so draining. I was longing for him to go by the end, but am enormously pleased that I was there during that time.

Oh gosh, MI, that has come really quickly. I know what you mean about experiencing lots of emotions and weird dreams, and my DM is "only" into a Nursing home Flowers

Rudy, I feel a bitEnvy of you going to a baby shower, although I guess it's pre-baby, so no chubby infant to pass round?

I passed 2nd time (first time was the day after my DGodSis had died and I had the most intimidating tester) and I love driving when I'm on my own in the car, don't mind it with others in!

Stropps, what uni is that? I want to applyEnvy!

And put me on the list!

Lalsy · 22/04/2016 09:58

Not selfish MI. Unsustainable yes - it Is a special time, everything else is suspended. Thinking if you very much.

Stropps, that is so strange and potentially messy. H
Hats off to you for Socrates late night efforts.

Great Plains tops a big success. Now to tackle trousers.

Dreamqueen · 22/04/2016 10:05

I have good news from my Spanish hospital hand holding dash. My nephew is on the road to recovery & an op will now not likely be needed. It must be my superb hand holding at work :) or the arrival of his mother later today.

Spanish hospital is very nice & civilised. They had a sofa bed made up for me in the room & I passed the night last night drinking G&T while he slept.

Blackduck · 22/04/2016 10:07

MI sending {{ }} It is unsustainable in all sorts of ways.

Rudy - baby shower - hmmm - very American!

Here crawling to the end of a very long week when I think I have done about 45 hours (so way over my required time then...)

hattymattie · 22/04/2016 13:44

MI - thinking of you - it's nice that DDad has got a plan though.

DQ - glad it's good news in Spain.

DD2 has come back from Holiday physics lesson with a positive frame of mind. I told her I'm willing to pay for as much physics as she wants!

motherinferior · 22/04/2016 14:24

Wow. Thanks to palliative care nurse, two nice women are here discussing night sitting (council service). They asked if she would mind a male carer. We said ideally a woman though I added that if they have any nice young Asian men she would probably be delighted.

addle · 22/04/2016 15:01

MI, that sounds like a step forward. Fingers very much crossed

BD, that sounds awful; hope the week is over asap with Wine and Cake in prospect

which I now realise I wish for all of us

bigTillyMint · 22/04/2016 15:33

TFIF indeed!
BD hope you escape home soon.

MI, that is good. Hopefully it will help to alleviate some pressure.

DQ, glad your mission is a success.

motherinferior · 22/04/2016 15:53

Oh sweet lawdy, to add to the rollercoaster: while palliative care nurse and GP were here DISCUSSING DEATH ARRANGEMENTS, she disappeared - and turned out to have walked FROM HER BED TO THE LOO, without her frame, including negotiating doorways, a table, and THREE STEPS. This is a woman who can't usually sit up unaided.

I was absolutely terrified. I thought we'd find her in a crumpled heap of broken bones. She looks like a famine victim, and can't open her eyes. And is now just mainly tumour, I reckon. How on earth...???

Auriga · 22/04/2016 16:36

MI, my mother simply forgot that she couldn't do things. And was grimly determined to get to the loo. Several times, she set off before I could get to her, forgetting to ring her bell. That's why we needed a night carer, because I couldn't be on the alert all the time.

Hope they will be able to take some of the pressure off. Can you still talk to her? Our last few conversations were spent going over happy memories. Wishing you well Flowers

motherinferior · 22/04/2016 17:23

Yes, I reckon that was it.

She isn't talking much but maybe I'm not initiating it enough.

Stropperella · 22/04/2016 17:38

Ahem, MI, no reproaching yourself at all. You are doing brilliantly. (Far, far better than I would under the circs - not that this means anything at all) Fingers crossed for a night carer appearing soon.

BD, I wish you a lovely, lovely w/e. I am so hoping that an excellent job opp will come your way in the near future.

DQ, sorry I missed that you had gone on a rescue mission, but am glad that things seem to have turned out ok.

Socrates appears to have survived school. Although it was a bit chilly for sandals and a sheet today. Grin

bigTillyMint · 22/04/2016 17:48

Hope u have a photo for fb!

Blackduck · 22/04/2016 18:32

Blimey MI ! That's scary. Hope you get some rest tonight.

Blackduck · 22/04/2016 19:23

Stropps thank you. I am now in the position of pointing out 'I told you so' at work as things start to crumble (including me).

I intend to not do a lot this weekend, but darn it, we've lost the pub again so I can't even stroll up for a cheeky glass....

magimedi · 22/04/2016 19:39

Stropps - I love the wayyou keep your sense of humor through it all!

BD - get a bottle in & hope you find a new job asap.

MI - just sending you strength for such a hard time. Flowers

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/04/2016 19:50

I am wearing the beer goggles of lust again. But am on my way home. Very sensible.

Cremo · 22/04/2016 20:12

StarHaloMrs S.

BD, I thought I was going to pass out today, we were so busy, with only 2 colleagues doing the work of what used to be 8 people. Really can't stand it much longer. Very little in the way of actual support from above. Sporadic at best. Many many people on 'great new jobs' invented with the aid of some imagined management utopia. Vomit inducing.
Dps hauled to go by dsis and given amoxicillin now. Mum is still a waif, and dad , a stray.

MI , there are no words. You are the embodiment of Zeno in your stoicism. WineThanks

Stropps well done to wee Socrates !
