Reactolite Rapide is the colour changing specs. I am afraid I am not keen on the over specs. I however only wear cheap sunnies as the children try them on, sit on them etc etc.

70s - raven head glassware, vesta curries and packet cakes. Just add an egg. Who would have thought it.

Dreamqueen · 11/04/2016 17:29

I love the sound of the curry MI

Not so sure about the glasses Magi I like NU have some reactolite glasses which I find useful for driving. My splurge this year though is I had some tinted varifocals put into some rather fancy sunglass frames to pose in. I'm just waiting for some sunshine to wear them. ( i'm sure the grammar in that sentence is all wrong)

Lalsy · 11/04/2016 17:55

NU, have a brilliant time!

I had some of those tint-changing specs and they didn't change enough so I got really grumpy because I thought it was dark all the time.

Blackduck · 11/04/2016 18:27

Egg curry is fab! Haven't made one in ages - suspect the boy would like it...

bigTillyMint · 11/04/2016 18:34

MM, my DM used to wear these on her glasses Grin I was sooooooooooo embarrassed by themGrin

NU, I hope you will be drinking green cocktails a la MrsS!

MI, I also had a very arms-length relationship with DM which I am not sure anyone else was really aware of, which makes it a bit uncomfortable now. I know how you feel.

NUFlowers on losing your DM so young. I lost my DGodM when I was 21 and still wish she was here.

motherinferior · 11/04/2016 18:40

My dad used to wear those too !

magimedi · 11/04/2016 19:32

I wore clip ons back in 'the day'!!

I also had an ambivalent relationship with my mother.

I loved her very much but I did not like her.

Cremo · 11/04/2016 19:34

I was just going to suggest the Polaroid clip on do dahs. I am devoted to my prescription sunglasses as they are still a bit of a novelty to me, but I do know what you mean about the chopping and changing.
Sort of think the over specs are a bit Max Headroom MM. Sorry.

Ah the 70s, when food was orange, and carpets were brown. Food from the freezer was definitely on the menu; Findus Crispy pancakes, Birdseye Supermousse, damp bags of Bejam carrots, and yellowing cellophane-shrouded Lucozade tasting slightly medicinal. Striped flannelette sheets and nylon nighties that sparked when you slid into bed.
Nature Trek Cornish pasty shoes, slacks and hacking jackets, Holiie Hobbie, Love Is....,
Snoopy and Sweet April, ( she came with her own swing-joy) the Ribeenies, I'll stop there.

Hello ladies - I seem to miss so much at the moment.

BTM - my Dad still wears clip ons but these are better than when he used to just balance his sunglasses over his normal ones Hmm.

MI - glad DH has put his plans on the calendar - I have a kitchen wall calendar and am continually saying to DH that is it's not on the calendar it's not happening. He still hasn't learnt.

CV - love the singing with DH - I can never do this with mine as firstly he's French so very few common songs and secondly he is tone deaf!

Giddy - DD returns tomorrow and although we've had the odd clash (see above). I will miss her and it does leave a hole in the family when she goes. She's been teaching DS about banter!

Herbs - I can't wear crops because I have long flappy gollum like feet and skinny ankles which look ridiculous.

Mrs S and NU - jealous of holidays, have a fab time.

Rose - DD's pictures on FB are fabulous.

Best wishes to all with ailing relatives.

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/04/2016 20:11

Clip on sunglasses remind me of those flesh coloured plastic nose covers that large German ladies used to wear on holiday in Spain in the 70s. Or they used to wear a white towelling headband with a green plastic peak thing.

Re Abigail's Party: I've Got Very Beautiful Lips.

Egg and Lentil curry in our house is known as the Meal of Last Resort since I refuse to make Pasta Bake any more. I love egg curry. Yum.

motherinferior · 11/04/2016 20:11

It is with deep and coruscating envy that I pass on the information MrsS is having another cocktail.Envy

I don't think I've ever heard Mr Inferior sing.Grin I have seen him dance, and am quite happy to keep that to a one-off.Smile

motherinferior · 11/04/2016 20:12

Ah, she's here WineEnvy

Lalsy · 11/04/2016 20:12

Hatty, I say that too. We have an online shared family calendar and I have to approve all changes Grin. Things that are not there are not happening, We used to have loads of muddle and so far, touch iphone, this runs really smoothly.

Lalsy · 11/04/2016 20:13

And I can't wear crops because once they've been turned up to fit me they are shorts!

Collymollypuff · 12/04/2016 02:45

70s: Cloth Kits (although only the laydeez will remember). Plastic toy figures actually in the cereal, unwrapped. Lord, the hazard!

Rudy, you will look amazing! Glad you hanging on in there.

Hell's bells crepesters, I had a dream I which I accidentally went to university and had to share a bedroom. Urgh. Such is the impact of having dd at home in a state of medium anxiety.

Stropps, hope you are OK, and dd.

bigTillyMint · 12/04/2016 08:04

Oooh Rudy, lovely linkies! I particularly love all the dressesEnvy You will look faaaaabulousSmile

Grin at Lalsy having to share a bedroom at uni! I am constantly amazed by the number of people who had to share bedrooms at uni. And it still happens!

We have a family calendar, but guess who's the only person who writes on itConfused

Rose, glad your DD's drama went well.

Molly, hope you're OK (noting time of post, not contentWink

Just waiting for the electrician to show up...

Dreamqueen · 12/04/2016 08:09

Great shopping Rudy

BTM good luck with the electrician. I'm waiting for the man to come to finish installing the washing machine. (only cupboard door to attach but it's now 10 days from the start)

herbaceous · 12/04/2016 08:32

Rudy - I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Viv dress. I want one. I don't in fact get much opportunity to wear 'our' dress. Partly because I never go anywhere smart; partly because it's shrunk very slightly, and I've expanded very slightly, so it's a tiny bit tight; and partly because I never know what to wear over the top. What do you wear with it?

Rosebag · 12/04/2016 08:33

Those dresses are beautiful Rudy. I've never had a Westwood

I like looking cool in my Raybans, but they're useless for reading...so I have to take them off for that. If the sunlight's really bright I don't need my reading glasses, but then I go indoors and the contrast means I'm blind....

I did something I never do this morning....dropped off again after the alarm went off. Blush and the sad thing is no-one came up to see if I was ok. Nice to think someone's looking out for you, isn't it? Angry I'm exhausted after yesterday. DD has another lot of rehearsals til 7 tonight, although it's another group of parents invited, so I'm just picking up. Then my ex choir have invited me to their end of term presentation later in the evening. Feeling emotional and not in a good way... Hmm

motherinferior · 12/04/2016 08:58

Rudy, I do admire your ability to combine a properly active job/lifestyle with high style. I would be crazed with envy if I didn't like you so much.

I probably need a revamp but suspect this is not the time to go for Bold Style Decisions (like my urge to switch from dramatic copper hair to dramatic silver and grow a Long Swishy Silver Mane, which has become quite consuming of late), not least because I am off-kilter partly through bad sleeping. Also I have paid my corporation tax (I am a limited company for work purposes) which I didn't have to do for a couple of months but as things stood I kept having to deduct a rather large sum from my business account, which made financial decisions even more baroque than they usually are in the Inferiority Complex.

Rose, I think you need a sick day. A proper one. Really, sweetheart.

BD, how are you?

magimedi · 12/04/2016 09:23

I also adore that Westwood dress.

And echo MI that you need some time off, Rose.

motherinferior · 12/04/2016 09:47

ARGH.
Spoke briefly to mum, who is relieved that a friend is visiting and will ‘take over’. But yet won’t buy in more paid care (and they can afford it, that’s not the problem) which means that it all falls guilt-inducingly to friends and relatives.

I am finding this rather stressful. And also profoundly annoying. She did this with food for ages – expecting friends to rock up with food and/or slave in the kitchen rather than stock up on posh ready meals (“we tried Cook and we didn’t like it”). In fact she still does it with food – expected my sister’s partner to sort out lunch after SIL had accompanied my dad’s sister the nun (yep) all the way from HARROGATE to visit her. It’s better now she’s been found her Tamil bloke who cooks for her, but other people still have to do it….

Lalsy · 12/04/2016 10:35

MI, this must be so stressful. It is all grim and difficult enough. I suppose people are not likely to change at this point, as they are clinging to the known, but so difficult for you. You are doing amazingly to keep bashing on with work and tax and so on.

And Rose, I third that.
