I'm going to transform myself - would anyone like to join me?

BeautifulMaudOHara · 11/03/2016 11:04

I need to get a grip and I think posting here might help me!

I need to lose some weight, concentrate on personal grooming and give myself a makeover, generally. I want to look and feel better and up my look at work.

Is anyone else interested in joining me?

My aims and ideas are (yours may be different):

Get my teeth bleached
Find out whether to (or how to) deal with my fairly new moustache FOR EVER
Ditto chin hairs
Sort out my fungal toenail
Get a new work wardrobe at some point
Get my nails gelled and keep them maintained
Give up sugar and carbs
Sleep enough, drink slightly less
Be happy!

I am generally, but I do need to look less like a hag, I have let myself go a bit and it's got to stop. Anyone else in?

Start meal planning again and eating more raw veg and fruit
I must do my roots (dye kit ordered).
I need to get a haircut.
Done my eyebrows (Eyelure kit)
Have done pedicure, manicure and nail varnish. (Nivea hand cream)
I resolve to walk at least a mile a day (walk to recycling and back).
I have dropped a dress size since last year (WW) but now have clothes that don't fit. Need new capsule wardrobe but have no money grr. I resolve to not not buy ebay or charity shop clothes anymore.
I will put makeup on everyday even if working at home.
I will use a exfoliating mitts in preparation for self tan.

I love this thread - I was in such a rut of gloom & self pity. I need to get a grip.

DamsenBerry · 02/04/2016 21:51

Today I had a new haircut and now I'm all swishy and glossy. And I wore my new jeans which are a size smaller and make my bum look lovely. I picked up my boots order which contained some fab make up, a couple of skin care bits and the shower gel that just smells so pretty I can't help but feel good. I also got a new phone which has cheered me up no end.
All in all, transformation going pretty well so far!

marylinmonroeroe · 02/04/2016 21:58

Can I join?

In the last 2 weeks I have lost 6lbs, had 9 inches cut off of my hair and donated it to a cancer charity that makes wigs, reduced my antidepressants and have been religiously sticking to my skincare regime when I used to just use a simple wipe!

I had a treat day today (and probably) went too far but will be back to normal tomorrow.

I hope I start to feel better about myself soon!

DamsenBerry · 02/04/2016 22:23

Good on you Marylin! Sounds like you're making good progress. You'll be well on your way to feeling fab about yourself!

Aramynta · 05/04/2016 10:47

Welcome Marylin and a brilliant start Smile

The theme of the moment seems to be haircuts. I always cut my hair myself (never trained, I am just very good at it after lots of practice) and have given myself a drastic change from a long bob to a Pixie-Bob a la Frankie Sandford. SO many compliments and I feel really confident (less shower/getting ready time, too) Also had a job interview and aced it, which will, hopefully, allow me to start saving for rhinoplasty.

As for weight loss I have completely failed, with Easter eggs and half term McDonalds trips Blush BUT it's my birthday today so I am going to draw line under it and start again tomorrow!

Enjoy the sunshine everyone :3

LardLizard · 05/04/2016 11:08

Marking place

Just given myself a nice gel manicure

Gave myself a pedicure a week ago, that lasts ages

Last week I coloured my grey Lthough, it's fading already, need something stronger than casting, had my hair cut at the weekend and did a spray tan

Plan to eat better and excercise more after the Easter hols and have a sort out of make up n beauty products
And give myself another spray tan before returning back to school

DamsenBerry · 05/04/2016 11:17

I've been pretty good at skin care, hair and make up. Though I'm slipping on nails and body exfoliation/moisturising. I also want to start tanning as I'm nearly see through I'm that pale.

My biggest failure is diet. I've always battled with food/diet/weight, and I feel like sorting the other bits first will be my first goal. Once I'm happy and in a routine in those bits, then I'll take on that task!

My current objective is to find a dress for a wedding in May, and I'll most likely really wear it to a wedding in June. Cue trawling through boden, phase eight, Debenhams, Next websites for hours on end.

DamsenBerry · 05/04/2016 22:58

Right tonight I've used my expensive new face mask and I needed to share.

It's Jorg Obe if that means anything to anyone, and it's a thick black peel off mask. You leave it on for half an hour, then when you peel it off, the entire contents of your pores are attached Shock blackheads and such like.
It's gross and odd and satisfying all at the same time. I needed to tell somebody about this. I'm so proud of my clean nose.

ProjectGainsborough · 06/04/2016 13:57

Placemarking, as slowly working way through thread.

Thank you Mac Faux is my HG lipstick too. you might also try the Kate Moss for Rimmel pale pink one too. I have it stashed all over my house as it always makes me look better!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/04/2016 15:07

damsen berry right, off to google that little beauty.....

DamsenBerry · 07/04/2016 06:59

Averagebear it's about £25 on the Jorg Obe website, and it was delivered in about 3 days. You might find it on offer on another site though. I used it on DP last night and now I'm proud of his clean nose too!

ProjectGainsborough · 07/04/2016 12:18

Right. Have RTFT and wanted to say thanks for the inspiration to PPs.

My aims are:

Reduce sugar (FAIL, BECAUSE EASTER EGGS)
No midweek wine (FAIL Blush)
Green juice every morning (YES, HAVE JUICED EVERY DAY OVER THE 3 DAYS IT HAS TAKEN ME TO PLOUGH THROUGH THIS THREAD)
Hair cut every 8-10 weeks (NOT DUE YET)
Sort out myopic squinty eyes (APPT MADE)
gel mani (WILL BOOK FOR END OF MONTH)
Water (YES!)
Castor oil for brows / eyelashes (YES!)
Swim / ballet / yoga (YES - MUST BOOK NEXT SESSION)
Scale and polish (NOT YET)
Teeth whitening/ veneer (NOT YET)
Hand cream frequently (YES)
Meditate (YES)
Make up lesson (NOT YET)

I'm on the frugal support thread too, so need to be careful that my transforming doesn't impact on my terrible habit of overspending. However, I have clothes and creams galore to be used up.

JudyBlumeRocks · 07/04/2016 12:37

I've been lurking all thread trying to catch up and think I finally have!

doing well:
bleached facial hair (lovely)
coconut oiled hair
face mask used
nails short and neat
footner done (though no results yet...)
running every day

doing less well:
eating everything! am ravenously hungry for some reason..

those who do their own gel manicures - are they as good as salon ones? and worth the cost of the set-up? normal nail varnish lasts exactly 2 hours on me for some reason.

for those with tooth whitening on their lists I can recommend crest whitestrips - for about £50 mine are now noticably whiter - people have commented.

Karcheer · 07/04/2016 22:31

judyblumerocks did you get them from the US?

I'm still not doing well although I did remember to do a face scrub this morning. And had a pedi the other day. My diet and no exercise is still my biggest issue. Plus face still looks like the moon!

SayAGreatBigThankyou · 08/04/2016 07:25

Sounds like some great transforming going on! judy the Rimmel gel-style nail set (colour and topcoat) is really good - and much cheaper than going to a salon.

On the look out for some good quality T-shirts. Tried some from Hush, but the quality didn't feel £30 worth. To wear with jeans, ruchy skirts, denim shorts in summer.

am still mainlining bad food BUT am exercising once a week, have ordered some better clothes (jeans, skirt, sandals - jinxes unseasonal warm weather), am attacking cuticles every other night, wearing make up every day (have had 2 compliments on it!!!!) and taking it off at night.

To do:
exercise more - 3x week
sort out good meal plan
take vitamins (should be an easy one to introduce!)
get a gradual tanner - any recommendations?
sort eyebrows

ProjectGainsborough · 08/04/2016 09:46

Apologies for the Daily Fail link, but I find this pretty good inspiration for my water drinking mission.

I have a terrible hangover today. Doesn't really fit with my healthy mission, but I feel happier for having let off some steam!

Carriemac · 08/04/2016 10:07

Brows, hair cut, and waxing done, and most importantly booked in for next visit. been to the gym too, but need to get eating under control. I find the thinking 'what would X do?' a good moderator, my role model is a female head of a large maternity hospital with a family, impossibly busy job job and yet she always looks immaculate and fashionable.

JudyBlumeRocks · 08/04/2016 11:30

Karcheer I got the whitestrips from crestwhitestripsonline.uk (promise not associated with them in any way - just very impressed!) Tried the sensitive ones first, because was a bit scared, but they didn't do anything. Then tried the hardcore ones and they were great. Did in August, and will probably top up this august.

Thanks for the Rimmel tip sayagreatbigthankyou - will give it a try. In return (!) I have just got some lovely t-shirts from Boden (there's a 20% off and free delivery code if you google for it) - not see through, not clingy, slightly boxy shape. Think they call it the 'oversized soft tee' or something and I sized down a bit.

Done:
I have been putting cuticle remover on every night and it seems to be working.
The 'what would X do' tip is brilliant! although it didn't stop me eating half a box of cereal before bed last night. X would not do that.

To do:
book haircut

JamNan · 08/04/2016 11:38

roots done
haircut booked
on a mission for new shoes this afternoon

SayAGreatBigThankyou · 09/04/2016 09:45

thanks, will check those Ts out judy - which cuticle remover do you use? Mine are terrible.

flirtygirl · 09/04/2016 10:51

Hi all
Please update us with how you are doing. Good and bad.

The good.
Im sticking with body brushing, my teeth are looking good, my skin looks better, im doing my nails weekly (gonna try for twice weekly as they look crap the last couple of days or just need to remove the polish come thurs ready for my sat night repolish), weekly defuzz before it was 4-6 weeks, im still trying to drink more water increased to a litre but gotta drink more and my feet look a little better.
The bad.
Failing at weightloss and have gained in the last week, not good when its four stone in the first place and need to sort my nest/hair out. Also seemed to have developed gym avoidance syndrome.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/04/2016 13:28

Hi all, I'm feeling pretty good this morning! Its my 10th day sugar free (I am amazed!) And I feel really good now the cravings have stopped, plus I've lost about 8.5lb too. I am wearing a pair of jeans that were way too small when I got them and I've been using them as my target jeans at slimming world (ie once a month put them on and see how much better they fit , as inspiration). Well, today, they fit! I also went for a haircut this morning so I look all 'done' which is nice. I can definitely see the benefit now of doing these simple changes for the last few weeks, I definitely look more groomed and healthier and my skin is much softer. As for negatives, while I'm doing 10000 steps most days, I'm not actually doing any exercise (ie raising heart rate) so I want to try and build that into my week, even just a brisk walk. Once the kids go back on Monday I should have at least 2 days when I can go out with baby ds in the buggy and increase that. I also think I should do some toning or I shall end up looking like a popped balloon!
Hope you all have a great weekend

MrsT2007 · 09/04/2016 13:47

Tentatively joining.
Put myself at the bottom of the pile for ever.

I'm a silversmith so painting fingers is a waste of time. I do like a home pedi but I'm missing a big toenail from an accident so that's pointless!!

However, I am determined to get my @rse in gear. So far I have:

Had lipstick colour match at No7 and bought.
Revamped my skincare regime Korean style and spend time each night looking after myself.
Started deforestation of legs etc.
Started wearing more of my nice clothes daily and not just hoody and jeans.
Bought trainers ready to get out and about in the fresh air in the evenings a bit.
Making effort to eat more fruit & vegetables and drink plain water.

I'm working on the "what would X do?" Idea too, with that person being my aspirational alter ego.

I suppose it's about just valuing myself bit more.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/04/2016 15:06

Hi mrsT , welcome.
I think what you say about being bottom of the pile may ring true for a few of us on this thread. I know for myself, I was definitely putting everyone else first, then my needs and finally right at the end my wants and I suppose I feel that my image is a bit selfish to focus on. But, while people have noticed the results they haven't noticed the time I've spent, which suggests that they haven't suffered for me putting myself first for a few minutes each day! I wish I'd done it sooner! I have found it easier to pick one thing and focus on it, rather than try to do everything and gradually build in a few things each week.

flirtygirl · 09/04/2016 16:12

Welcome Mrst, korean beauty is changing my life too, its nice to relax with, i never thought id have 12 step regime!!
