I'm going to transform myself - would anyone like to join me?

I need to get a grip and I think posting here might help me!

I need to lose some weight, concentrate on personal grooming and give myself a makeover, generally. I want to look and feel better and up my look at work.

Is anyone else interested in joining me?

My aims and ideas are (yours may be different):

Get my teeth bleached
Find out whether to (or how to) deal with my fairly new moustache FOR EVER
Ditto chin hairs
Sort out my fungal toenail
Get a new work wardrobe at some point
Get my nails gelled and keep them maintained
Give up sugar and carbs
Sleep enough, drink slightly less
Be happy!

I am generally, but I do need to look less like a hag, I have let myself go a bit and it's got to stop. Anyone else in?

Thanks for dehydrated skin advice, I think I could increase my water consumption.

I was working from home today but I did go out for a walk, I didn't quite make my 10,000 steps but I'm still pleased as I could easily have just stayed in all day.

I had a school event in the evening and made the effort to redo my make-up before going out.

I'm managing to stay off snacks, but I may allow myself a couple of glasses of wine Saturday evening.

Flatcoatfan · 18/03/2016 06:47

Hippo I've had my teeth whitened. I've always hated my teeth so decided to treat myself. I went to my own dentist who was great. I had soft retainers made which I put a little of the bleaching gel in and had to wear overnight for 3 weeks. The results are great. Really natural not dazzling celebrity white. If I need to top up I can buy the gel from my dentist for £10. My teeth were sensitive while whitening but soon settled. My dentist advised against laser whitening and any whitening not done by a dentist. Total cost £300. I'm really happy with the results. HTH

lavenderhoney · 18/03/2016 07:08

I'm also using this time to use up all the Beauty products I have so I haven't actually had to buy anything apart from a dark blue eyeliner:)

My dentist said re teeth whiting you have to give up coffee and anything that might stain your teeth for two weeks! I said " I'll think about it"

Did my nails last night, just cuticle cream and today they look as if I've never done any housework etc:)

Ememem84 · 18/03/2016 07:37

I waked 13789 steps yesterday. Got out of the office at lunchtime and had a walk around in the sun. Was lovely.

Managed to drink more water too so feeling good and remembered to take multi vitamin. Smile

Have started conditioning my hair before shampooing to see if it makes any difference (I read that it might make it softer). So far am on wash three and it seems softer. Sort of. Am also training my hair to only be washed twice a week. so have to look at different styles for the non wash days.

HairsprayQueen · 18/03/2016 07:49

Thanks for the replies yesterday- have got up today and already had a litre of water and have planned out today's food. I've put make up on even though ds2 is ill so I won't be doing anything much today.

This is such a nice thread.

HairsprayQueen · 18/03/2016 07:51

em how does it comb through after doing it the other way round?

Ememem84 · 18/03/2016 08:06

Fine actually. I wasn't sure it would. But I'm brushing hair before I wash it too. So maybe that makes a difference.

BeautifulMaudOHara · 18/03/2016 11:30

I've had my nails done, they look good!

And I've booked in for 2 weeks time to have them redone and bought a monthly membership which entitles me to gave them done every 2 weeks plus one repair a month.

Dentist this afternoon. Check up but will ask about whitening.

No alcohol for 5 days (if you count Sunday, which I will as it was 2 piddling glasses with lunch and I didn't even finish them)

I'm going to transform myself - would anyone like to join me?

Hi can I join?

As someone who thinks that the best beauty product is dry shampoo Confused, I need to pull myself together, make time for myself and get myself back to me

Goals are:

Lose at least 2 stone
attempt to grow my nails
Get regular manicures
Get my hair cut into a style and maintain it
Update my wardrobe with just a few quality pieces, and...
Get myself a new interest

Felt like mummy for far too long. My son is getting older and, aside from being the frumpy mummy at the school gates...want to get me back and also my confidence

Mindysgotswag · 18/03/2016 12:03

*also need to look at joining a gym!😇

SayAGreatBigThankyou · 18/03/2016 13:58

mindy dry shampoo is brilliant - I use it to add volume to my hair too, and it works better than dedicated products for that. Welcome btw!

love the nails (and the username) maud

I ate four yorkshire puddings for lunch. Definite room for improvement.

Somanyillustrations · 18/03/2016 14:46

Nails are gorgeous Maud

I'm having a terrible day! Have messed up DD's passport renewal and supposed to be travelling next weekend Sad Have spent the day crying on the phone which has not done anything for my face! Have slipped a bit on diet, but nothing horrendous. Planning on drinking lots tonight though.

Not going to get a chance to gym today either, and have drank nothing but coffee so far today...

Need to kick myself up the bum and get on with it, but just a bit flat. Really worried that I will have to tell DD (5) that we can't go away. Whole family going skiing for FIL's 70th, and she has been so excited since we came home last year, my heart is breaking thinking about her little face...

DamsenBerry · 18/03/2016 14:54

Well I've made zero effort on the challenges I set myself on this thread. What a failure I've been.
Re-read through the posts in the hopes of re-inspiring myself! Finish work at 5:30 and have the house to myself- normally I mope and eat junk food when I'm home alone, but tonight I think ill have a nice bath and pamper session. I may even go to the gym after work, depending how ny afternoon goes!

Thanks for inadvertently giving me a kick up the arse, team.

littleleftie · 18/03/2016 16:25

You can do it Damsen!!!

I slipped up yesterday. I had to take DD to a uni interview and we ended up really late in a strange city and i willingly ate she made me eat a whole pizza!!! And by the time I got home I was too tired to even take off my make up, let alone put on moisturiser. Never mind.

Today I bought eyebrow tint and some cosmetic sponges for applying foundation - I usually use my fingers which DD says is gross.

When I get to a superdrug I will get some of the recommended serums/peels.

Have hardly eaten today and feel quite faint but have to make up for pizzagate Grin

Good luck over the weekend everyone.

Mindysgotswag · 18/03/2016 16:33

Love this thread!

So far today I've...

Booked to go to the dentist
Booked myself in for a gel manicure
Booked myself in for a total hair restyle
Bought myself a few face masks, with a view to using one tonight!

Why did I not join this thread sooner? Given me a right old kick up the butt!

Pavonia · 18/03/2016 17:28

So far today I have not left the house, so the chance of meeting my step goal is slim. I am going out this evening so will manage a bit of walking, maybe I will get off the bus a couple of stops early on the way back.

I really need some casual clothes that look nice, it will be easier when the warm weather comes. I'm wearing jeans and a fleece again! But I'm only going to the cinema - it will be dark!

BeautifulMaudOHara · 18/03/2016 18:36

Dentist was expensive - I need 2 fillings and I must have 2 hygienist appointments before I can have the whitening, fair enough but it's booked in for April and I had the first hygienist appointment today.

The whitening will be £500, so I hope it's worth it! I will try to post before and after photos.

Hi everyone. I love seeing all the positive messages and positive vibes on here.

I feel like each day I am managing some of what I want to achieve but not quite making all. Also, because I am trying to make more of an effort with clothes (which is a difficult job due to the state of my wardrobe) and hair. It's taking a lot longer to get ready every morning (which DH is not impressed with). But hopefully as I get more into a routine it will be easier.

Today, I made a conscious effort with my hair, make up and clothes, have drank more water and done my sit ups. I have also shaved my legs in preparation for a wedding do I am going to tomorrow. Food wise I am a disaster zone this week so that has to be tackled next week.

Somanyillustrations · 18/03/2016 20:39

Well in the spirit of this thread, I had a shower once the kids were in bed, washed hair, shaved legs, cleansed/toned/serumed/moisturised.

Have eaten steak and green beans, no chips for me. Plenty of wine, but enjoying it in the knowledge that it is my only booze this week.

It's not been a perfect day, but it would have been far worse if I hadn't had you lot to report back to!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/03/2016 20:39

I've had a good day and feel much better....loving this thread! I don't really wear much makeup but I did put a bit on just to go out with the kids today and felt better for it. I've done 3 days with no refined sugar or bread/pasta/rice etc but tonight I've got a thumping headache, I'm hoping its detox and not another virus! I'm going to weight myself tomorrow morning to hopefully motivate me to keep on track for the weekend!

MentalLentil · 18/03/2016 20:56

Your nails look lovely, Maud.

Somany that's so sad about the passport application. I hope it all gets worked out in time. Could you go through an expedited process at all? I'm not from the UK so I don't know much about it, but where I'm from you can get an appointment in person and have the application approved that day you just pay lots more. Whatever happens, don't beat yourself up about it. It was a mistake, and your DD won't be upset forever Flowers

I've made great strides with hair removal, I have vitamin E oil on my cuticles, my makeup looked fantastic today if I do say so myself, and I drank 1.5 litres of water. Slow and steady.

Somanyillustrations · 18/03/2016 21:10

Mental I'm hoping we can get it upgraded on Monday, but it seems to be stuck in some bureaucratic nightmare at the moment. I'm hoping that in the worst case scenario, we can catch a later flight to meet up with everyone else... I will throw any amount of money at the problem to make sure I don't have to tell her we aren't going!

MentalLentil · 18/03/2016 21:22

Best of luck on Monday then, and whatever you do don't let the stress get to you! I'm impressed with all the self-care you did today -- I would probably still be a gibbering wreck. Very well done, you're living the spirit of the thread Smile

Somanyillustrations · 18/03/2016 21:42

Thank you! I'm trying to be very zen about it, and planning our days out in case we have to stay at home Confused I'm so glad to have this thread to keep me on track and take my mind off it Wine
