:). Are those two statements connected?

I have had wine and am getting ready for a day of zigzagging London.... With a D'n'S thrown in.....

motherinferior · 01/04/2016 22:05

I am quite sociable. So is DD1. The others put up with us, wincing.

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/04/2016 22:07

Err, no I don't think so!

I had a nightmare day at work today. There are four people more senior than me spread over two departments. The rule is that there needs to be at least one (preferably two) of these people in at any one time. None of them were in today or yesterday, and none of them will be in until Wednesday next week. They all seem to have been given leave. In fact I didn't even know my line manager wasn't going to be in today until I got her out of office message - she hadn't mentioned it to me. Predictably, I spent most of today dealing with very tight deadlines and people demanding a decision on something that I knew nothing about, but had to take a call on as there was no-one else around. So if the shit hits the fan next week, it is all going to land on my head. And to think that my boss told me I couldn't do half a day's training course next week as she won't be there and "someone needs to be in the office at all times."... hence the need for gin.

Also repetitive.

Blackduck · 02/04/2016 06:38

MrsS your place beggars belief.... Actually no it doesn't, it's just like mine. I spent one Christmas trying to find someone senior to make a decision and ended up having to ping things to the second most important person in the whole organisation.......

I just don't buy you as not sociable :)

Blackduck · 02/04/2016 08:10

It's one rule for them.....

Our big cheese is off next week and has just dumped a shed load of urgent stuff on his minions (half of whom are also off....). The latest email was for his vid cast where he wNted examples of innovation, streamlining, cuts in process etc. now this is the staff he culled and who are now really struggling. I wanted to respond with 'I'm too busy trying to keep my head above water to actually innovate'.....

Cremo · 02/04/2016 11:32

God I relate Mrs S and BD. I have 3 line managers, one of whom is supposed to be working at all times. Also seems not to apply. They all work flexi and never give any indication of when they will be in. Drives me to distraction.. I had to phone in sick recently, and sat with the new report I g process on my knee. There is a hierarchy of people to to report to if you are sick. On a Tuesday morning at 9am I couldn't get hold of anyone on the list until I got to the interim Big Cheese. He answered and was completely weird about me reporting to him. I explained why and he was furious that he had been disturbed. What was I supposed to do? He was the dicksplash who wrote the bloody procedure.FFS

DD is home and being quite sweet, but is permanently connected to her computer, so hard to converse with. Dsis has taken her down to my cousin's farm today. Hopefully she won't go into shock in the Fresh Air.

In goat news, Molly, a new kid last nightGrinGrinGrinGrin

herbaceous · 02/04/2016 12:31

Crikey. That kind of managerial incompetence/arrogance drives me to Hulk Smash. Mrs S - you must devise a way of dropping your boss in it next week. Direct the shit fan at her desk.

There's a fairly daft sitch at my adult education place. There are stringent procedures all tutors have to follow, to ensure we pass Ofsted, etc, particular ways of organising my course files, ways of writing lesson plans, etc etc, but my manager is new and has no idea what any of these are.

Herbs - "the goat ate the bag" was a phrase DD2 used for weeks after we visited a farm park when she was little. She dined out on the story all summer! That and "the wasp stung me on the eye".

Gah! All these work torments. I have a boss I never ever see, so I tend to just ask the nearest director to rubber-stamp what I'm doing. Mostly this works for me, but requests for big decisions go unanswered for weeks.

Holiday-wise, I try not to be off at the same time as the Sales Manager, who I "administrate" for, but don't report to - he also reports to my boss. Every August SM just books three weeks holiday, without any consultation, and I normally make an effort to work around him, as it usually makes no odds when I go. This year, however, we need to go in August, because of GCSE results day, so I thought "sod him", and played him at his own game, getting in early with my own holiday request. Then he put his dates in, and lo and behold I was the one who got it in the neck, because we have both booked the same weeks. Well, tough titty, it's my turn this year.

What a lovely day! DH is busy outside, jet-washing anything that stands still lng enough (and making the garden into even more of a swamp). The DDs got back from DSis's absolutely exhausted, and are still in bed, the lazy lumps.

motherinferior · 02/04/2016 13:05

GGG has taken me firmly in hand at the optician'sSmileSmileSmile

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/04/2016 13:13

So what have you gone for??

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/04/2016 13:14

Will she take me in hand too? The Boy Wonder told me I looked "matronly" in mine the other day. I told him to fuck off.

Rosebag · 02/04/2016 13:54

All these Crepeys with absent bosses who seem to wield power despite having left the building and going incommunicado. They get what they deserve I reckon, the excuse being, "left you a voice mail, don't you pick up your messages?" Angry

I have the house to myself...DD has gone round to class mates to rehearse their Drama GCSE piece, and is then off to a party. Dh is taking DS2 out driving. I am yearning to be at the coast on a magnificent day like this but am stuck indoors with house work. Hampstead Theatre tonight , to see this play
A rom com, I think. Tomorrow I plan to do some work in the garden and DH has agreed to go to the dump with all the detritus I create.

In S&B news seem to have a 20% off voucher for Joules which feel out of GH magazine. I have always been a bit underwhelmed Hmm by Joules but what do you think of the following...?

frumpsville?

flippy or frumpy?]]

jeans

Rosebag · 02/04/2016 13:56

trying again

motherinferior · 02/04/2016 14:02

I've gone for the ones that nobody but she and I - plus one or two old mates - like.Grin

bigTillyMint · 02/04/2016 14:16

Will we get to see them later, MI?

I like them all Rose. I must have that voucher, unless I chucked it out with all the crap that comes with magazines! It is difficult to judge how things will look on though, when the model has age and a perfect figure on her side!

Going to head up west to do a bit of browsing/shopping before HHWink

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/04/2016 14:34

And me, BTM!

Lalsy · 02/04/2016 14:35

Hey cocktailing crepesters, have a lovely time. I was hoping to join you but bit swamped with dull detritus.

Crem, glad dd is back and all's well-ish. My dd is being quite annoying/demanding/sweet in equal measures.

Much sympathy to Crem, BD and MrsS with your dreadful bosses and organisations. Crem, your phrase I feel unclean really struck a chord with me. I had that while waiting to be made redundant once - it was horrible.

Dreamqueen · 02/04/2016 15:44

Enjoy HH and lovely cocktails! Wine
I'm by the sea up north and its freezing and wet. Didn't make the mistake of not bringing wet weather clothes like i did last time so I'm well wrapped up & about to have a gin.

magimedi · 02/04/2016 17:27

Enjoy the Wine all of you. I'll raise a glass to you shortly.

Rose - the wind off the sea took the warmth right off the sun this am & by 2pm fog was rolling in & it is now raining!

GiddyGiddyGoat · 02/04/2016 17:39

Raise a glass for me too all you cocktailing Crepes...
MI and I had a lovely time this morning - good coffee, lots of chat and glasses shopping... they look really good on you MI!

CointreauVersial · 02/04/2016 20:15

Grin DS has just gone off to a fancy dress party, for which he has to dress as something beginning with the same letter as his name. He loathes and detests fancy dress as much as I do, but DD1 took him in hand, and he left the house as a Cat, with black lacy ears, eyeliner whiskers and a little heart-shaped nose. Grin And a pack of wet wipes, which he will no doubt employ within 10 seconds of walking into the party. He wouldn't let me take a photo, the rotter, or I'd have shared the laughs.

Enjoy your cocktails!

BeachysFlipFlops · 02/04/2016 20:15

DQ, my dh and ds are up north on the coast this weekend as well!

Hope cocktails went well. We are just starting our second teenage shenanigans of the week! Call me Saint Beachy from now on! Still when they are all famous artists, I'll be able to say I entertained them all Grin

I have gardened all day, veg beds dug, some seeds in, been heaven actually. Just peace and pottering.....
