I haven't got up yet. ShockGrinBlushBeen reading in bed.

AIBU to tell visiting rellies to contact my parents directly not ask me to ask them? My mum gets confused anyway.

bigTillyMint · 26/03/2016 11:04

MI YANBU. Surely they can sort that themselves?

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/03/2016 11:07

I too am slumped in bed with the cat and a book called "When the Messenger is Hot" and listening to one of my slightly more successful friends pontificating on Radio 4.

motherinferior · 26/03/2016 11:07

It was a text (at 5am) from India - please ask your mum if X (cousin) can arrive at a specific time. I've whatsapped back saying to email. My mum does sound increasingly confused.Sad

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/03/2016 11:08

He has a nice voice for a Tory.

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/03/2016 11:09

Oh dear, MI. Sad

CointreauVersial · 26/03/2016 11:13

Auriga. Flowers

I'm impressed he told you, BD. DS kept that sort of thing to himself, until one day I walked in on him in the bath and, oh, my eyes.....

Relax and enjoy, MI. I had tea and toasted HCBs in bed this morning.

Off for a little jaunt to the tip now, with the garden rubbish from yesterday. We were also planning to take the old boiler there too, but left it at the end of our drive.....sure enough, there was a knock at the door a few minutes ago, and a polite Irish gentleman offered to take it away for us. How kind and selfless of him! Then off to the big Sainsburys to replace the Easter Easter Smile cakes I bought for tomorrow which the DCs have scoffed. Angry And maybe a little rifle through the clothing racks

motherinferior · 26/03/2016 11:17

It turns out from brief chat with DSis that I am definitely the one who has been designated Deals With EnquiriesAngry. Mind you she sounds knackered and not great. Is going to parents with her DS2 tomorrow so we will see them all for lunch.

Stropperella · 26/03/2016 11:21

BD, ds is constantly telling all of us about how hairy he is. And, because neither dd or I believed him, trying to show us. Grin

CremoEgg · 26/03/2016 11:24

Easter Shock surprised by ds BD! Always seemed to be unmentionable in this house. A lot of Easter Blush here. I admire your openness.

1wall painted. Already exhausted Smile

bigTillyMint · 26/03/2016 11:47

StroppsEaster Shock!

We saw DS's hairy pits as they emerged, but thankfully nothing elseEaster Grin

Which room are you painting Cremo?

MI, you are obviously coming across as way too organised/knowledgeable/capable, etc to everyone. Which, of course, you areEaster Smile

motherinferior · 26/03/2016 12:40

I have made the Nigella/Claudia Roden orange and almond cake using Seville oranges and the mixture was so delicious it nearly didn't make it into the oven.Smile

Have suggested to DP that he puts a Seville orange up the bottom of the chicken he is roasting later, which prompted the usual ready wit and sophisticated humour....

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/03/2016 14:07

I have a freezer full of Seville oranges. I must get around to making marmalade...

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/03/2016 14:36

I have been compiling a little list of things I need now that I didn't need five years ago. It's depressing:

Facial epilator
Corn knife
Root touch-up.

Shoot me now.

motherinferior · 26/03/2016 17:01

And a Seville orange?

I am contemplating going grey.

CointreauVersial · 26/03/2016 17:08

Coincidentally, MI, I've been following the Lush henna thread, and wondering if I should start to cover mine. I have a huge fear of root regrowth; my ideal hair colour would be something that fades just before any regrowth becomes obvious. I haven't henna'd my hair since I was 15, and I can't remember seeing my roots then (although that might have something to do with my subsequent obsession with Sun-In).

motherinferior · 26/03/2016 17:28

What about a semipermanent colour, CV?

There is a rather splendid FB group about grey hair where someone has posted that fab Older Ladies song.Smile

I'm thinking of going from copper to silver...

Rosebag · 26/03/2016 17:32

Oh heavens dear Crepeys. We are having a time of it, aren't we. Sending more Flowers to auriga and monty. You are both so much in my thoughts and a
I am having a little cry from time to time on your behalf and for me too.

waf thank you...this happens to me a lot. Something just sets me off. Medical things particularly as the daughter of a GP. I guess it embodied so much of my connections with Ddad.

Sad MI'Is it all too much for DM...all these rellies getting in touch and wanting instant answers to everything.

MrsS in a bizarre moment of lewd hilarity amongst all this crepey sadness, may I add KY to the list... Blush Blush Blush Grin Sorry...rude.

DH and I are still the flat. We had a bit of a delayed drive down. As after very good progress there was an awful block near west grinstead ...the usual crap, a lane taken off, and no workmen to be seen anywhere Angry. Nevertheless the weather was beautiful and we were relaxed probably because of no DC in the car! On arrival, lovely lunch/tea in the village and a coastal walk. We were the invited to supper at friends with a flat in the next village. Most pleasing. Today we got up late, and pottered, walked in a place called Findon in the Downs with lunch at a nice hotel. Bought some low back walking boots locally, which don't hurt my Achilles' tendon problem. Now back, lying in sofa with a bowl of crisps and no DC. Bliss. We have a DVD to watch tonight and are researching holidays. Switzerland and also a few days in Disneyland Paris straight after the exams.

CremoEgg · 26/03/2016 17:37

It was Sun-in that got me to the rather strange colour my hair is now , over a period of about 35years. Oops. I'd be quite happy to go a whitish grey but I think it would take as much chemical effort to make it lovely as it does now to make my hair a non yellowish blonde. I'd love to be a dip dye blonde with navy bits at the bottom, or bronde with palest pastel blonde tips. But all that would involve consultation with An Hairdresser, which I am against because of astronomical cost and faf and godawful interaction with other humans, which I can't face.
Pass the Clairol.

I had a lovely lunch with ddad today, whilst mum was off having lunch with the girls. Dad regaled me with stories of his youth, most of which I'd heard before, but one a I certainly had not , about girls on holiday and the attracting thereof with the assistance of his dashing French pen pal. There was the shaking of sand out of underpants in this yarn; say no more.Grin We slurped soup and had a right old giggle.
And it was good. I realised its the first time since ddad got out of hospital last year, that we have had time to ourselves without mum hovering And it was really good. Smile

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/03/2016 18:07

Sounds good, Crem and Rose. Rose, we used to have season tickets for Disneyland Paris, so I will send you my plan of attack to avoid queuing as much as possible. It works well.

Just heard that my Polish teacher's husband has died. He had Alzheimers. We last saw him a few years ago when we went back to Poland, and he wasn't great then. Not sure I can make the funeral a) because of cover in the office and b) the cost. He was a lovely man.

bigTillyMint · 26/03/2016 18:23

Rose, that sounds very relaxing - enjoy! Re Disneyland, we did it all in one very long day a few years ago, and my only tip is to NOT go on Space Mountain (just bleurgh)but MrsS is the expert!

CV and Cremo, I banned DD from trying Sun-in about 3 years ago, remembering the palaver for friends years ago!

Cremo, glad you had a good time with your DDad - they are back from France already?

MrsS, oh no. Flowers

Had a relaxing pedi earlier. So relaxing that I came straight back to bed for a couple of hoursGrin Which is good, because we are off to friends for dinner and it will hopefully enable me to stay awake!

motherinferior · 26/03/2016 18:34

I have done ZILCHO all day, barring cake-making, in the hope that I will finally feel less wiped!

hattymattie · 26/03/2016 18:45

Hello crepies - had quite a nice day here. We went for the traditional end of term Chinese meal. DH says we are very change resistant as it always has to be the same restaurant. Have had a quick rush to M&S for goodies for the Easter weekend. I also bought the Lindt chocolate bunnies about three days ago and have forgotten where I've put them. Tomorrow will be hunt the bunnies instead of the eggs!

Am enjoying having DD1 back - lots of animated political and other discussions going on.

Also, we have bought a mattress topper. I'm not sure I'm used to it yet as we sink into it when we get into bed and then there is a ridge between us - which may or may not be a good thing; Wink

BD - I haven't seen DS's nether regions since he was about 8 but he seems very much still a little boy, which is difficult for him at age 13 in a class hulk size brutes.

Love to all the recently bereaved crepies. Hope you are all doing ok.

magimedi · 26/03/2016 19:36

Quiet but nice day here - went for a swim & DH & I were the only people in the pool. Knocked 2 mins off my usual time so am feeling very smug.

I started going grey at about 26 & am now white all over & quite happy with it.

Rose - I don't know your age but are you sure it's not the dreaded VA that makes you need KY? I won't go into details but it is a very common problem that is, sadly, not talked about enough.

Crem - that sounds like a time to treasure.

MI - I have made that cake but will be making it again with Sevilles - sounds amazing.

And my special thoughts go to Monty & Auriga - be kind to yourselves.

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/03/2016 19:41

KY??? ShockSad Still quite, ahem, juicy here. Does that happen post menopause? And what is VA??
