Flowers Auriga. Hold on to that sense of achievement. No one could have done more than you did.

Lalsy · 25/03/2016 09:55

Flowers Auriga, much sympathy and I am glad she was able to be with you all and as comfortable as possible. You looked after her so well.

Monty, thinking of you too Flowers.

wordassociationfootball · 25/03/2016 10:30

So sorry Auriga.

But absolutely brilliant that you are feeling that sense of achievement.

Collymollypuff · 25/03/2016 11:08

Auriga, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. You did so very much for her, right to the end, in the most difficult of circumstances. Thanks

Monty, I am so sorry to hear about your father's death, too. Sad I hope that you have your family around you, and that you are able to look after yourself. Thanks

hattymattie · 25/03/2016 11:29

'Auriga - I'm so sorry, the essential is that you were all there. SadFlowers

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/03/2016 12:01

So sorry Auriga. You did so much for your Mum and made the end a good one. Much love. xxx

BeachysFlipFlops · 25/03/2016 12:15

I agree. To be able to contribute to a good death is something to be proud of. Thanks it's something that we would all like to achieve.

addle · 25/03/2016 12:24

So sorry, Auriga, but what a great thin you have done for your mother and the rest of the family Flowers

CremOlafoam · 25/03/2016 13:26

Oh Auriga.Sad it was absolutely right that you were all there at the end. Stropps is right when she said you could not have done more. Your poem was beautiful. Sending virtual propping up for the difficult days to come. Thanks

CointreauVersial · 25/03/2016 13:51

So sorry she's finally gone, Auriga. She was surrounded by her loved ones, and you couldn't have done more. Flowers

MontserratCaballe · 25/03/2016 20:04

Dear Auriga, so very sorry to hear about your mum. You really have been an amazing daughter and have looked after her with such tenderness. She knew she was greatly loved. I am thinking of you very much xxxxx

MontserratCaballe · 25/03/2016 20:10

Thank you all so much for all your kind thoughts and good wishes. It is has been immensely cheering to read them all. You are all so thoughtful and kind. I am very lucky to have such fabulous friends.

Difficult few days as you would expect, not least because my sister cannot shut up, but I am now home and mainlining Campari soda in honour of the fine weather. I could almost be in Italy. Off to catch up with all the news now

Flowers for you all.

bigTillyMint · 25/03/2016 20:33

Monty, glad to hear you are relaxing at home with your Campari and soda!
I hope you were able to relax a bit today too, AurigaFlowers

The weather has been beautiful and we have had a relaxing day here. DS's team beat a visiting American footy team 10-0, DH and I got a bit of gardening done and then DH, DS and I went to meet BIL and gf on the Southbank. Now home alone with DH as DD has gone out for dinner with her bf for his 18th (tomorrow!) and DS has gone off to a party!

motherinferior · 25/03/2016 21:08

I spent a chunk of today exploring Deptford with a historically minded friend, including three (3, iii) churches - rather lovely ones, including the one where Christopher Marlowe is buried after getting stabbed in a nearby tavern. It was a lovely sunny day and although I'm quite the atheist, also lovely to go into places of Christian worship on Good Friday.

Auriga and Monty, thinking of you.ThanksWine

CointreauVersial · 25/03/2016 23:10

I've had a very productive day - the first proper gardening session of the year, pulling out all the brown, twiggy stuff from last year, raking leaves and tidying up the pots. Did battle with some whopping brambles, and discovered we didn't bury Tiny Hamster quite deep enough..... I also finally got around to putting our climbing frame on Freecycle, and it was collected by a lady who lives just behind us - if I crane my head out of our bedroom window I can just about see it in its new surroundings. I'm ashamed to say it has been in pieces in our shed since we moved here SEVEN years ago.

And wait....what's this unfamiliar sensation? Ah yes, warmth! We have a boiler!

CremOlafoam · 26/03/2016 08:22

Monty, so glad you were able to relax last night.KBO.ThanksWine

Thinking of you too Auriga. Can't begin to know how you feel today, but I hope you slept well last night, and that you are feeling rested at the very least. Thanks

Oh I wish we had the weather! Raining cats and elephants here with a disturbingly autumnal wind.
Trying to get on with painting the living room , but family duties getting in the way.dhs dps, are organising some car swap nonsense ( mil has left fil if you recall) but Dh has been cast into the middle of some labyrinthine plan to move a piece of furniture.
I'm going to help DM clear out fridge and pack for France.
Also cat sitting for a friend. I can see this Easter weekend vanishing, when I would quite like to be getting On With Things.
Happy Easter Crepeys [egg] Chocolate

Auriga · 26/03/2016 08:27

Thanks for your good wishes, everyone.
Crem, the poem is a quote from a song, . It's been going round and round in my head for the last couple of weeks.

wordassociationfootball · 26/03/2016 08:29

Lovely to hear about days in the sun.

Monty you have even more of my sympathy. I have a wall of sound sibling too. It's a head-banger.

We will be packing later for a rainy windy week in Wales. I will be back on the train on Weds though for work and that will be lovely. The amount of solitude I require is wonderfully supported by DH and something I have to remind myself of in times of aggravation at his entrenched messiness.

wordassociationfootball · 26/03/2016 08:32

Did you sleep alright Auriga? I imagine the process of coming back to your self and coming off alert mode is not a smooth one with grief rolling in too. But good sleep is what I wish for you.

wordassociationfootball · 26/03/2016 08:38

Rose, have been thinking of you lots since you mentioned palpating DD's throat. I'd been wanting to tell you in some non-bothersome way that you're still in my mind as someone whose had a recent and very sad loss. The Crepey grief bench (it's in a beautiful blossoming orchard) is in a long curve that can seats us all whenever we need to rest there.

Off to try electronic drum kits. Taking sticks and headphones. Excited!

CremoEgg · 26/03/2016 08:39

Oh that's amazing Auriga; the harmonies are sublime. I do hope the fact that it's going around in your mind is soothing. The words and those chords would suggest that. Thanks much love to you.

Agree about the time to self WAF . So important. Recently I was asked about my hobbies and I had to say that, considering my job is all about people people people , I would consider my hobbies included being still and alone in a room in complete silence and contemplation . Oh, and Pilates. The guy was a bit ShockHmm

Auriga · 26/03/2016 08:44

Thank you waf. Not much rest yet. I am cleaning to soothe myself. Going to take DDog out, then go up to London to take DSis1&2 to their train. I will take myself to that blossomy bower you mention some time soon.

Yesterday was a whole day of difficult phone calls but there was a walk in the woods and some drinking of wine in the sunny garden as well. DD cooked us all a delicious pasta bake Star

magimedi · 26/03/2016 09:49

Thinking of you both, Auriga & Monty.

Cleaning is very soothing. Also loved that song.

Cold & miserable here after a wonderful day of sun yesterday.

DH has suggested going to visit the new show homes close to us!1 This is a development being built opposite our estate. The contractors have been awful - constantly muddy road (no wheel wash), lorries blocking the only pavement etc etc.

DH has suggested we go & tramp all over the show home in our muddy boots. Grin

But we won't . Going to do some cooking & then a swim.

Blackduck · 26/03/2016 10:15

Auriga and Monty thinking of you both.

Here rearranged house - not sure I'm keen

And in other news ds is horrified that he has a hair down there. Grin

bigTillyMint · 26/03/2016 10:25

He told you, BD?Shock
And how have you rearranged your house? Sounds intriguing.

MM, go and nosey. With your wellies on!

Auriga, cleaning is good. And I agree with WAF that it will be hard to turn off from high-alert modeFlowers

WAF, electric drumkit with headphones - go girl!Grin
