Could you put the same question to one of the big perfume bloggers? Victoria at Bois du Jasmin, or post on Now Smell This? Both are pretty good at indexing (well, better than us it would seem Smile.

thecatfromjapan · 03/05/2016 21:10

With a description like that? Grin I'd be embarrassed! You guys are approachable and friendly. I fear I would be mocked and sent packing on a larger site.

thecatfromjapan · 03/05/2016 21:18

Do you know, I think you're right and I'm wrong.

I think it IS the Grossmith. Grin

Memory is very strange: I remember the descriptions and the website very differently. But I am sure you're right.

So weird, I visited the Grossmith counter in Fortnums the other day and the bell of memory did not ring (the visit, however, was great).

You fabulous women! Flowers

MrsCocoa · 03/05/2016 21:29

Wasn't the Friedemodins that turned up in TK Maxx? Jardin Mystique

teta · 03/05/2016 21:31

Oriza L Legrand?

thecatfromjapan · 03/05/2016 21:41

teta That's it!!!!!

Thank you! Flowers

I cannot believe you worked it out from my terrible description! And in spite of my having decided I'd completely misremembered.

I am incredibly grateful. Grin

MissBattleaxe · 03/05/2016 21:54

Wow, teta, that was some pretty incredible perfume identifying there! It had me stumped completely!

teta · 03/05/2016 21:59

Can't remember everyday things but can recall really obscure facts strangely.

thecatfromjapan · 03/05/2016 22:02

It was amazing! Grin

Will we be seeing you on Mastermind some time?

flightywoman · 03/05/2016 22:38

SOTD was Mary Greenwell Plum. It's not going to be love. But I might ask my sister is she likes it and pass it on if she does.

I keep thinking about Ma Griffe. I thought I wasn't crazy about it but it won't leave my mind...

FrustratedFrugal · 04/05/2016 04:57

teta that was amazing!
Now I want one of their soaps Wink

MsBojangles · 04/05/2016 11:44

SOTD is Flora Psychedelia, one of 4160 new crowd funded ones. Spring flowers and some sparkle, light but delightful.

FrustratedFrugal · 04/05/2016 12:43

I swapped neglected bottles with a new perfumista friend and am now drifting in a cloud of Sacrebleu.

FrustratedFrugal · 04/05/2016 12:47

Oh and someone here mentioned Odalisque a while ago. Did you get a bottle, what does it feel like, do you still wear it?

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 04/05/2016 14:13

I have a bit of a hankering after something green and jasmine-y.

Something like Blush, remember that? The pretty pink bottles.
Or The pour un Été, in the old Artisan Perfumeur style.

What can I try?

teta · 04/05/2016 14:37

Jardin Mystique by Friedemodin.Or Calycanthus by Acca Kappa.
You will most definitely not TheCatFromJapan.I think I might be in demand at the tennis club pub quiz though.
L'Ete En Douce is SOTD.A beautiful blue sky is blazing through the skylights and we have some warm weather promised.
Dh has informed me Mary Greenwells Lemon smells like Lynx ( he hates it).Kids say it smells lovely.Any type if bitterness in food/smells is anathema to Dh.

MsBojangles · 04/05/2016 15:48

I sold a virtually full bottle of Blush last week on eBay, had to have a good old clear out to accommodate my rapidly expanding collection. This thread has a lot to answer for!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 04/05/2016 16:17

I might go back to Ete en Douce.
Still have a bit from when it was still called something else, I do love it.

Or Eau du Ciel, that's a blast from the past.

MrsCocoa · 04/05/2016 20:24

My favourite jasmine is the one you smell of warm nights, after scorching long days, in early summer in southern Europe. More ripe than green though - Lush's Lust recreates this pretty well. The solid perfume is easier to wear as it is quite strong....

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 04/05/2016 20:45

That's lovely.

Mine would be drier, greener, not quite jasmine tea, but more fresh, the heady white florals give me headaches.
Wonder if they still sell the Annick Goutal one.

kittykarate · 05/05/2016 11:12

SOTD - 4160 Tuesdays Up the apples and pears.

Sprayed on paper it turned into something that smelled of home made spicy apple chutney, I'm trying it on me now.

MsBojangles · 05/05/2016 11:51

Be interested in hearing how you get on with Apples and Pears, I wasn't immediately enamoured by it but haven't given it a proper try yet.

SOTD: Premier Figuer, always a winner.

kittykarate · 05/05/2016 14:56

On skin Apples and Pears loses the initial 'chutney' sharpness much quicker, and becomes something like the filling in an apple strudel, with some light wood smell.

FrustratedFrugal · 05/05/2016 15:53

Another day with Sacrebleu.

cressetmama · 05/05/2016 21:24

Wore the Buddhawood Box yesterday, to drive DMil home, and it was beautifully mannered;stayed all day in a friendly aroma, and not over powering in the car. Packed CdG and was aware of it all the way home, a distinct but strong presence, even on a full train. Probably verging on rude, but I think the weather may be telling me to put it away until the chills return.

I liked the Apples and Pears too, and to date, this is the most successful 4160 Tuesday set so far,

Have not smelled any of the Ortizia Le Grands at all.
