29 crepes a leaping.......

magimedi · 10/02/2016 19:33

Well, I've grabbed the bull by the horns & am leaping into the new thread........

Felt very sad no one else had started one whilst I scoffed dined.

If no one like the title I am more than happy to have it deleted & go with anything else.

DH has taken over the catering for the month of February......... the food is good but the angst is another matter Grin

FLAPS.

Leapt gaily into car to go to adult learning job place (to shamelessly copy other people's schemes of work, etc) and blasted car battery is dead. I blame DS for messing about in the front yesterday, and leaving something on. I may have to fall on the mercy of a neighbour. Or, heavens forfend, a garage. I do have breakdown cover, but it's a freebie with my bank account and only starts .25 miles from home. Bah.

Lalsy · 02/03/2016 14:15

Grin at crepey world leader qualities

herbaceous · 02/03/2016 14:20

I think paroxysms of self-doubt are positively de rigeur in a dictator. cf Hitler's tiny malformed todger.

Lalsy · 02/03/2016 14:40

A delightful picture is building up now of Breton T-shirt clad, gin-swigging, intelligent and sensible crepeys running the world, stamping out poor grammar, cruelty, inequality and insensitivity with panache and dedication and occasional lurches into paranoia, self doubt and the Chums/Hotter catalogues.

motherinferior · 02/03/2016 16:41

I am feeling very irritable.

I would like them ALL to go away for a bit. DP is saying sentimentally he'd like us to go away for a weekend to the city where two of my exes live and I just yearn for a break on my own or possibly with a Crepey-style mate to pass the gin occasionally. Fed up with sorting funerals and passing on messages (please tell your parents I'll be arriving next Tuesday - given that lovely cousin has done this at considerable inconvenience and expense of course I have to) but I am finding it all a Bit Difficult. Sorry to moan.

herbaceous · 02/03/2016 16:59

I was super-irritable yesterday. Snapped at DS a number of times in the tiny and hot changing room cubicle after swimming. V embarrassed when I emerged and realised we were three inches away from a friend and her son...

And now he's just had his parents' evening. Well above expected levels for everything. A joy to teach, funny, popular and gaining in confidence. Amazing his literacy teacher. Rocking his fronted adverbials. Little man.

wordassociationfootball · 02/03/2016 17:08

I snapped at Dd2 at the dentist just now when DD2 huffed and puffed intolerantly while I dawdled to read a sleep tip I hadnt rheard before about breathing and whooshing. Have had crap kips the last week.

CointreauVersial · 02/03/2016 17:51

Well done Herbs Junior! Star DS had his Y11 report this week; not quite as glowing, shall we say. Hmm Although he is being a darling boy at the moment, and also seems to have snagged a Saturday job with his WorkExperience employer.

Phew, MrsS. Hope that's an end to all the worry. Flowers

Rose - the slouchy Next trousers are lovely, with decent fabric, but irritatingly I seem to fall squarely between a 10 and a 12. Both sizes fit me, but the 10 is a little less slouchy than I'd like, whereas the 12 needs a belt. It all depends which direction I think my weight is going over the next year or two (don't answer that...).

Last minute recovery on the college get-together - my three besties are also in the overflow room, so I've gone ahead and booked. I think it will be fun, but of course I'm stressing about what to wear. It's black tie, so would a gold sequinned top with cropped black trews and party shoes work OK, do you think? I'm not feeling the love for any of my dresses and am too flabby about the midriff to go and buy something new.

bigTillyMint · 02/03/2016 18:12

MM, I have ticked off everything on your checklist, so despite her complaining and fussing, I think she is fine there! I think it is mainly the loss of independence and moving out of the house she lived in for 40 years. In S&B news, she is also quite jealous about some of the other women, because they have nicer clothesGrinThis is quite a surprise as she has been wearing her homemade outfits for as long as I can remember - mostly strange knitted tops in the last few years! I am going to take her some more of her own clothes tomorrow and maybe buy her some new stuff too!

Good news MrsSWine

Must dash, meeting friend who I shared a flat with for 4 years at uni - haven't seen her for about 10 years!

Lalsy · 02/03/2016 18:33

Well done, mini Herbs!

And BTM, what a relief. I think some new clothes are a brilliant idea - new start and all? And those places are often really hot!

Rosebag · 02/03/2016 19:05

molly and the crepes roolz the world...agree. The hand that rocks the cradle...and all that stuff. Grin

I don't think there's anything wrong with being irritable with the DC/Dp's/DH's sometimes. Why on earth should we smile through every bit of crap they throw at us? And herbs the swimming pool changing room after DC's lessons was enough to make anyone go nuts...I remember it well. My younger two were always so slow at changing...and always dropped their pants and socks in some murky puddle... Angry but great news on the parents evening, though!

Tilly so glad you're reassured. Some new clothes for DM is a great idea...new gear for her new place.

CV A darling boy is what you want. The grades will be ok...you'll see.

MI do you want to have a solo sojourn at the flat? I do it often. Genuine offer. After this weekend though... as for my sins, I am leaving DH with the DC homework shite and taking DM away there for the weekend. Now, Crepeys...will I be more or less wild than if I'd had a weekend at home?

magimedi · 02/03/2016 19:16

BTM - am so pleased.

Maybe a quick trip to M&S/BHS/Debenhams before you go & a couple of 'naice' tops - like wot the others wear?

Just re-read & have seen you are going to do that.

10,0000000000000000000000 good daughter points!

Every single one of you is a good daughter - if you weren't you wouldn't be agonising on here.

And I agree with Crepeys ruling the world, but............... I wanna be supreme leader. Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/03/2016 19:52

Thank you all - the relief was immense. Grin

Am on my own tonight, which is lovely, as DH has gone out with his friend (he only has one in London). Have had sandwich and gherkins and am eyeing up the pickled onions next. Rioja or gin to wash it down, do you think?

Rose - I have that weekend dress in navy and also a sort of checky print, plus one with elbow length sleeves in a blue and brown print. It's a very easy dress to wear.

Wasn't very productive at work today - my boss has made the world's biggest cock up and am deliberating about whether to do some damage limitation for her before she comes back, just to get things moving in the right direction again. The consensus in the department was "why would you help her?" but it's something that needs doing, and if she comes back and it's back on its feet, I think that would help everyone? It is entirely likely that she won't be remotely grateful or even acknowledge my contribution, but the work needs doing. Spent large amount of unproductive time gossiping with that colleague. Asked him if he wanted to go for a quick drink. He went very red and said he should go home. Which was probably sensible.

MI - where shall we go for a weekend? Grin

If MM is going to be Supreme Leader, in Crepeyland, can I be Foreign Minister?

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/03/2016 20:06

25 years since Serge Gainsbourg died! Shock Love Serge...

CointreauVersial · 02/03/2016 20:18

MrsS, put that colleague down!

Stropperella · 02/03/2016 20:22

Can I be your Special Advisor, MrsS? Grin Flowers Cake and Wine for you tonight. So glad to hear your news!

BTM, you are doing an amazing job of looking after your mum. The fact that she is having a bit of a wobble is entirely normal under the circs, I feel. Good luck with all the stuff you have to do over the next day or two.

Dd had just come to terms with taking a gap year and has applied for some kind of internship in Paris for Jan next year. And last night went and got herself a new hamster, as she is back to her normal self in terms of liking animals and wanting to be kind to critters - and said she wasn't planning on leaving home for a while yet.

She had just put the new critter in his cage and sorted him out with treats, when she got an email from UCAS with a rather low offer (relatively speaking) for Biomedical Science from a perfectly decent university. She had given the impression that she had got rejections from all her choices, but it turns out that she's previously only heard from her first choice and none of the others have been in contact.

She's no longer getting her knickers in a twist about the whole uni thing, which is good. I think the year out would be a better plan, so I hope she goes with that, tbh. But I have absolutely no idea how it's all going to play out and as long as she's well, I'm not really bothered about it all just now, either.

I have yet another working w/e lined up with a surprise pile of work pitching up for Job 2. Feel churlish complaining, so I won't. I'll just grind my teeth quietly in the corner.

Stropperella · 02/03/2016 20:26

Oh my, congrats to Herbs Junior!

And CV - a lovely teen ds who sorts himself out with a job sounds pretty good from where I'm standing!

Rose, hope your dm behaves nicely when you take her away. (I fear I would want to throttle my dm after about the first 2 hours if I had to take her away somewhere.)

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/03/2016 20:37

I would also be in the throttling club with mine.

Stropps - my cousin's DD did biomedical science and the NHS paid all of her fees, and I think she got a grant too, plus a job during the holidays and a guaranteed job at the end of it.

Lalsy · 02/03/2016 20:37

Flippin' heck Stropps, she likes to keep you guessing! Well done her. And you Flowers.

Cremo · 02/03/2016 21:18

Stropps o can't tell you how heartwarming it is to hear about dd at the moment. I know very well it is all dangling over a precipice but blimey Good on Her just now. And you naturally. How is ds?. It must be easier for him to see his big sis in a whole new way.

Mrs S, can feel the relief from here. Loving the pickle- Merlot combo . Although I'd need to be mainlining ranitidine after thatWink
All Hail the Crepey Queendom !

motherinferior · 02/03/2016 21:25

Phew. DD1 has finally started her periods. As she's now over 15 this is a slight relief to all.

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/03/2016 21:57

But on the other hand, lucky her to have got so far without it.

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/03/2016 22:02

Also bumped into lovely friend on the way back from the hospital, that I haven't seen for years. Last time I saw him, we had a very drunken snog (I don't make a habit of this, honestly!), but we restrained ourselves today to a hug and peck on the cheek, as it was late morning and we were in Parliament Square. He has just got married to another man.

bigTillyMint · 02/03/2016 22:09

Lalsy, it was boiling in there but DM had 3 jumpers/cardis on! On the S&B front, it'll have to be M&Co as that's all there is here and I haven't got enough time to trek off to the nearest M&S!

Stropps, well done to DD - I also know a DS who is doing it and is really enjoying it. He took a gap year firstSmile

Just back from a lovely catch up with old flat-sharerWine

Blackduck · 03/03/2016 06:09

Just catching up.

MrsS glad it was 'good' news

Herbs clever old ds.

MI I'll come away with you - what brand of gin would you like?
