Acid toners

I'm sure this has been done before but search keeps timing out for me on here today so apologies! Any recommendations?
Is Pixi Glow true to the hype? Or the Nip+fab pads?
I have weird skin, dry flaky patches on cheeks and chin, oily forehead, some hormonal spots, occasional bouts of cystic acne.

Mine's similar to yours. I use Ren clarimatte toner which is really great. You can get it in m and s.

I use the bravura range and it's been fab. www.bravuralondon.com I use the glycolic acid and the salicylic acid ones. they are not toners but gentle peels and I can say as someone who has that sort of skin, it's worked a treat.

I haven't used Pixi Glow but have read very mixed reviews. I use the Nip + Fab Glycolic pads and they have definitely made a difference to my skin (dry, dehydrated, some flakiness) - I would recommend them. I have also used the REN toner and quite like it but prefer N+F

The Olay one and the Boots Time Delay both cost less than a fiver.

Both equally as good as the Nip and Fab pads.

In fact, unless the N/F are on a half price, once mine are finished, I'll go back to the Olay one.

They are great, don't get me wrong, (I have both the Glycolic and the Dragon's Blood) but the Olay/Time Delay are just as good and even cheaper.

Can I ask which Olay one? It gets mentioned a lot, but there are so many olay ranges that I can never see one that's an acid toner.

Preferably a link so I can see what it looks like!

caroline I use the Olay Anti Wrinkle toner (pink bottle). The ingredients list shows it has salicyclic (sp?) acid. It's often on offer for about £2. I have used nip+fab dragons blood pads but can't always afford to repurchase them. I hated the Clearasil 5 in 1 pads.

Yes, that's the Olay one, anti wrinkle one. I think that's the TD one too, but mine was in a grey coloured bottle, not green. Will go and look.

I thought Pixi was good u til I went to get new foundation. The beauty lady showed me where my skin was dry and flakey so I bought the REN glycolactic acid mask and the difference is amazing so not going to sing Pixi glow praises any more.

I think I'm going to give the REN a try. I've got some money left on a Marks gift card and as we all know there is sod all else to buy in M&S now...!

Pixi is ok but a bit 'entry level' I tend to use it on the top of my arms now, it's great for removing those annoying little red pimples and leaves them very soft and smooth. Paula's choice has some great ptofu us so check out her website too. I'm currently using creme de la mer 'the tonic' very good but very spendy.

Pixi gets very mixed reviews on here.

If you have oily skin/blackheads/sebaceous filaments then you want salicylic acid rather than glycolic or lactic.

Clinique Mild Exfoliating Lotion is the entry level salicylic, everyone seems to love Nip and Fab Dragons Blood but if you want the proper pH, higher concentration of salicylic stuff then Paula's Choice is it. Have tried others but they are never as good.

The Paula's Choice 2% BHA practically cleared up my acne by itself. Bit of retinol did the rest. While the Clinique really makes no impact on the acne whatsoever.

Pixi glow PADS are awesome. Haven't tried the normal glow tonic stuff but I didn't like the ingredients list. The pads are a different beast.

Bravura calendula did nothing for me, the clarins one irritated my skin, as did the nip and fab glycolic fix pads.

I have similar skin and what's currently working for me is a facial brush, dermalogica microfoliant and then facial oil

The microfoliant has salicilic acid in it

Wolpertinger which 2% BHA Paula's Choice are you using? I've been using a sample of the Clear anti redness one for a couple of weeks, skin was looking fab until my usual PMT spots appeared on Monday (I'm almost 50, this is just not fair!)

And which retinol?

I use n&f Dragons blood pads and my face loves me for it!

I think I had the 2% Skin perfecting gel. Retinol was LRP Redermic R until I decided to go the whole hog and do Retin A

But if you have acne and are concerned about skin ageing, retinol is a no-brainer really. The Paula's Choice nearly got rid of the spots but couldn't do all of it. Paula now does a retinol product whch is supposed to be v good, would be surprised if it wasn't as she's good on active ingredients.

Coco, I'm dry and dehydrated. Yes, look for glycolic, avoid salicylic. I use Nip + Fab glycolic pads about 5 times a week and my skin is more glowy and less flaky for it
