I need a full coverage foundation for very dry skin please help!

I have patches of psoriasis on my cheeks & in my eye brows. I also have these weird white spots all over which are like tiny cysts that are very hard to squeeze so need covering too.

I'm using Mac studio sculpt in nw30 but it's too dark. Any suggestions?

The red patches in photo are psoriasis and you can't see the white hard spots very well in other photo but they are very noticeable in rl.

Watching with interest as I too have psoriasis and cystic acne and rosaecia. Currently I use a loose powder from Avon and No7 perfect match liquid foundation which goes on quite thick but evens out the skin tone and moisturises. I do find if I scrub my face then plaster on moisturiser about half hour before applying foundation it looks better.
I did go to boots a while ago and got them to try some on my skin but typically the best one for my skin was about £80!

These sound like milia - you can get them removed by electrolysis or by a dermatologist. It's likely that they are being caused by you using either foundation or moisturiser that is blocking your pores - make sure both (and any creams you put on your face) are non-comedogenic.

Oil of Ulay total effects day moisturizer fits this bill. I think they do a foundation too - so that might be worth checking out.

Also have you thought about using a skin tone matched concealer underneath a lighter foundation?

I don't have any specific brand recommendations my current foundation is embarrassingly expensive hangs head in shame

I don't use anything on my face at the mo except simple face wash and moisturiser. Make up rarely as it irritates if used daily.

Pretty sure it's not milia I sometimes get the odd one round my eye. These are not solid when squeezed more like cottage cheese!

These are more like cysts but smaller mainly on my jawline above & below. I get cysts in my armpits & groin often and small ones in my eye every few years.

Willing to pay anything! I used to not leave the house without make up but have only wore it on nights out for the last 3 years as I feel odd with done up eyes and no foundation!

This is my current foundation - top left. It has a concealer in the lid and a little brush to apply. I find that it gives good coverage. The concealer is a shade lighter than the foundation so wouldn't really work for covering up larger areas. It's good for under eyes, tiny spots and highlighting. You'd need to go to a counter and have them test some on you for a colour match obviously.

It's so expensive though, if it's not in your budget (or even if it is) I'd strongly advise that you go and get them to do a full face for you - so you can see if you like it. It's an expensive mistake if you don't.

It was at a counter that I got Mac but looks way too dark when I got it home tried persevering but I just don't like it. Was going to get a shade lighter as it didn't irritate my skin as lots do but thought I would ask here too.

Anybody use Estée Lauder double wear as have read a few reviews but want to know how good is the coverage?

Coverage with double wear is brilliant, but it's a but claggy on dry skin, I love it but need to exfoliate and moisturise my forehead like a demon to stop it looking like my skins falling off

I wouldn't recommend DW on dry skin. It clings to the dry patches and looks cakey.

I now use an American brand called ELF it's a budget range but it's probably the best foundation I've had and I've tried Lancôme, Estée Lauder and Clinique...it's a dupe for the Clinique blemish solutions.

I use moisturiser and a Rimmel primer under eat and apply with a real techniques stippling brush and it gives great coverage. A little goes a long way.

If Mac didn't irritate I would stick with that as u risk a flare up if u change. Just by looking at ur pic I can tell nw30 is too dark! And Mac usually oxidises so looks darker once on the skin. I would go for nw20

I often blend different foundations together in a little pot to get the shade I like. You could do that with the foundation you have when you find another one you like. It's a shame to waste it!

I think a mineral foundation might be a good try for you. Have you got a bare minerals counter near you. It suits my dry skin. Covers my red patches and lasts for ages. I use a primer if I remember but often just my normal moisturiser

I use Vichy dermablend... It's non-comedogenic so doesn't block pores like other foundations. Excellent coverage for my extremely dry skin. I'm prone to large cyst spots and it makes facing the outside world more bearable. You find it in the skin care aisle rather than the makeup aisle.

I usually get mine from boots but it's just gone up a few quid in price which is annoying. Not a great range of colours, my skin looks similar to yours though and I go for the lightest on and then use for a very light bronzing powder/ blusher over the top on any areas that would normally catch the sun.

Forgot to say that whilst it is on the pricey side it lasts forever and usually doesn't need reapplying during the day (and I am a face toucher!)

I have bare minerals but I didn't like it, goes flakey after an hour or so.

I tried a sample of Lancôme but made me itchy.

I use rimmel primer blue lid - I love it!

Haven't tried clarins/bobbi brown/elf. May need to take another trip to John Lewis, it's got our only beauty counter but I get really flustered

Honestly just stick with what u know doesn't irritate your skin and get the lighter shade, why fix what isn't broken?

Have you seen a dermatologist? Do ask(insist) that your GP refers you. I have spent years trying to cope with bad rosacea, and I finally went to my GP in despair. He readily referred me and my skin is now amazing . I am sure a dermatologist could help treat the underlying skin issues.

In the interim, I would really recommend a consultation with Bobbi Brown. Make an appointment so that adequate time is allocated . All their staff are make up artists. I suspect that what you need is a good foundation and a concealer for where you need greater coverage. The shade range is vast, they will colour match you correctly, and find a formulation that suits your skin .

I do have a doctors appointment for Thursday so will ask about the dermatologist. Last time I asked a locum he told me I had too many other things to worry about! (depression/ocd tendencies) but I'm seeing my doc and I'm pretty sure she will help.

I wanted to try others as I don't like the feel of Mac, after a few hours it cakes and slides.

I'm sure my skins so bad beause I'm a terrible eater & my immune system is rubbish. Having bloods for vitb12 & vitd deficiency on Thursday. I also pick lots when I'm stressed (ocd) which doesn't help!

I get psoriasis on my face and find that foundation doesn't 'stick' to it. I use a cc cream and find that better. Currently using an arbonne one as went to a party (very sceptical) but really love it! It also doesn't irritate the psoriasis patches.

You also say you are a terrible eater - an holistic dermatologist type person once told me to quit red meat, so I did (only eat steak not if out for dinner somewhere posh) and it really worked on my psoriasis

Also recommend Dermablend, it's great stuff! I don't use it on my whole face, just on the patches that need covering. I think it looks very natural, and the coverage is really good.

I don't really eat meat at all - the odd bit of chicken breast.

I have awful eating habits only really eat bread/cheese/crisps/sweets on a daily basis. I do eat other things but have issues with texture/taste.**

Scrowy what colour dermablend do you use? They all look a bit pinky.

Hi, I have really bad ezcema, and have frequent flare ups with hideous dry/red patches, makes me look far older than my 21 31 years due to years of steroid cream. I have tried every foundation under the sun, and the garnier Bb cream really works for me. You can use it over mouisteriser (sp?) and just a little bit of it covers over the worst parts. Not sure if that is helpful. It's not that expensive either I normally also use the maybelline version of touché eclat. Does the business, and doesn't make my skin flake (anymore than usual).

I have eczema on my face and I wouldn't go near it with foundation - it just cakes - if not immediately within an hour.. I use primer instead -Garnier Instant blur and loose powder - avoiding problem areas.
