I need a full coverage foundation for very dry skin please help!

I have patches of psoriasis on my cheeks & in my eye brows. I also have these weird white spots all over which are like tiny cysts that are very hard to squeeze so need covering too.

I'm using Mac studio sculpt in nw30 but it's too dark. Any suggestions?

The red patches in photo are psoriasis and you can't see the white hard spots very well in other photo but they are very noticeable in rl.

I have garnier Bb cream and probably hate it the most of all iv tried! It just didn't blend in properly sat on top of my skin and felt wet.

I used to use steroid creams on my face but stopped all of them about 2 years ago. I hate the feeling of creams/moisturiser on my skin.

Think I'm going to buy dermablend and some concealer as 3 for 2 on boots online at the mo

Oh! Sorry! Just going on what worked for me. I literally spend most of my time cakes on mouisteriser. Anyway, if you find a miracle foundation thingy, please let me know.

BabsIsHot · 24/01/2016 18:30

Penguin

Has your GP referred you to a dermo? They can prescribe a non steroid cream to use on the face- called Protopic- which will not thin your skin. It has to be given by a dermo and used carefully but it will clear up your skin.

ChristmasEvePJs · 24/01/2016 18:32

I have bad psoriasis on my face, I will send you a pic of me with make up on today and then another in the morning with no make up. Huge difference!!!

I use a treatment called Bettamousse from the GP. It removes all the dead skin within minutes but leaves behind the harsh red looking marks. I have also tried nearly every foundation on the market and find Este Lauder double wear to be the best but I wear the lightest shade they do (shell). Perhaps go into your local store and ask for a colour match.

I know how you feel, and completely sympathise. Psoriasis really dents my confidence, I won't show the tops of my arms due to the red marks.

strawberryblondebint · 24/01/2016 18:35

Oh I forgot about derma blend. It's very good coverage. I'm sure it's cheaper online as well. You probably don't need to buy a concealer as well. That stuff does cover everything.

Penguin2016 · 24/01/2016 18:40

Thanks babs I am due another docs appointment in two weeks so I shall ask about that... I also saw an article about a jab that they have developed in Japan to try and stop the itching and therefore symptoms of ezcema, psoriasis etc. Will see if I can find it and post a pic. I just get fed up with the fact that because my skin is so dry I look about 41, not 31 (thanks steroid cream). Anyway, I do recommend aveeno, the lotion, not the cream, before putting foundation on.

stabbybitch · 24/01/2016 18:41

It's mainly my face that I get it but if I get a throat infection then my whole body gets covered!

I'm definitely going to ask for a referral

Just eating dinner will pop back after!

Penguin It's been around for about 10 years and you really ought to insist on a referral and get it sorted. The generic name is tacrolimus.

www.medicinenet.com/tacrolimus_ointment/article.htm

I read about the injection but I think it's just for itching and won't necessarily help your face.

One of my DCs has very bad eczema.

Penguin2016 · 24/01/2016 18:48

Thanks babs I shall bring it up with my doc. At the moment, I would do anything to stop the itching. I have had ezcema since I was three (so 28 years ago!!!). They all told me I would grow out of it...! Ha! I am sorry to hear your son has it as well. It's a horrible debilitating condition, which can really dent your confidence. But to be fair, it shows strength of character to deal with something like this on a daily basis. How old is your son?

Penguin2016 · 24/01/2016 18:49

Sorry, just realised you didn't specify if it was a ds or a dd

iamEarthymama · 24/01/2016 19:03

I have patches of psoriasis on my feet and creeping up my legs, but have also noticed one patch on my face near my ears and in my damn eyebrows.

I use Aveeno and sometimes Eumovate on my feet but should I see the GP about my face, does it need different treatments?

Good luck to all of you xx

BabsIsHot · 24/01/2016 19:04

Almost your age- coming up to 30.

Penguin2016 · 24/01/2016 19:17

Is he single?!! Grin obviously joking. He has my sympathy. Skin conditions especially ezcema are the worst. Weirdly, I found having nail extensions have massively helped. I can't scratch, and do as much damage, so much as when I did with my natural nails. Not that I am advising your son to get nail extensions...!

Higge · 24/01/2016 19:34

I'm a big fan of Aveeno too.

stabbybitch · 24/01/2016 20:01

I'm 26 everybody always thinks I'm younger - teenage spotty skin!

The skin is thinning besides my nose because of steroid cream.

My ds6 has eczema on his hands and wrists which splits because of scratching. I use aveeno on him and steroids when it's really bad.

I really don't like creams on my skin though.

Higge · 24/01/2016 20:08

I went on an elimination diet 2 years ago for another condition but my skin cleared up completely for the first time ever, I couldn't find the trigger - it seemed to give my skin the break it needed though.

stabbybitch · 24/01/2016 20:57

Passmethewineplease which elf foundation is it you use? Iv found the two different elf ones on eBay

OP posts:
ledgeoffseason · 24/01/2016 21:49

Similar to higge I had a trigger - developed psoriasis at 20, it was of all things Tom yum paste! I'd been working in a restaurant in France where they made all sorts of yum things from it and had got some of my own in uk... All slowly cleared when I gave it up. Took me years to figure it out. What also helped was really reducing all detergents, boil washing sheets, using unscented good quality soap not gels or bath bubbles (eg use Savon de Marseille, one block cut in four lasts ages), oil cleansing, eating much more carefully. But after successfully getting rid of it over a few years, I bought Tom yum paste again in ny... Yip, psoriasis broke out for the first time in years. So you might have a trigger in eg crisp flavourings? I know it's hard to eat properly if you have sensory issues, but I really did find that my mh issues improved AND my skin the better I ate... It's only now with all this micro biome stuff coming out that they are establishing links to thinks I had worked out by trial and error. Anyway, I REALLY only came on to recommend Laura mercier secret camouflage - tis great. Also I'd say maybe apply it or dermablend or similar just where you most most need it - creating an overall impression of better skin rather than a thick mask. Aw, good luck, bad skin is a nightmare!

Higge · 24/01/2016 21:53

And I don't use hand soaps, hair products or shower gel with SLS.

passmethewineplease · 24/01/2016 23:50

Stabby - I use the acne fighting foundation in porcelain. I also use blue lid Rimmel primer and love it.

I tried dermablend but their shade range is rubbish, the lightest was way too orange for me and I found it looked cakey on me. I've known people use it as a concealer rather than a foundation.

rollonthesummer · 24/01/2016 23:58

I don't even know what Tom Yum paste is?!

BritabroadinAsia · 25/01/2016 02:33

I use steroid cream (v sparingly and occasionally, under dr orders!) on face for flare ups - you have my sympathy. Is your psoriasis triggered by temperature changes?

Nothing to add re foundations, as I use a lighter coverage one but to be honest have never found solution to your issue - they all seem to look horrible with foundation over if the patches are very bad.

But I think if you can bear to eat more foods with omega fats in it might help the overall condition of your skin. With the sensory issues, can you manage avocado/salmon/nuts at all? I would say diet makes a noticeable difference to my skin.

Good luck with getting a dermatologist referral.

ClarissaBell · 25/01/2016 09:37

Are you in the group MrsGloss&TheGoss on FB? They've got some skin doctors in there who regularly offer advice. They were so helpful when I was suffering with cystic acne

stabbybitch · 25/01/2016 13:21

I'm not but will take a look on that Facebook page. I'm really not sure what the white spots are, they appeared after my second Dc. Have googled so much, did think it could be candida at one point but never managed to find much online about it.

I do eat all nuts but go through fazes where I'll want then for a week then not for months!

I don't eat any fish fruit veg though.

Yes the cold weather makes it worse. Some warmer months it's not even there.

I have brought the lightest shade of dermablend will arrive tomorrow so shall report back.

Going to order some elf if that fails me. I need to sort something it helps with the depression if I'm in a morning make up routine and feeling better about my self.

Hi I am currently having great facial success with the body shop hemp facial protector as a moisturiser/primer followed by Collection lasting perfection foundation, collection concealer and collection powder. My skin has never looked so good!

I've ditched all of my expensive foundation and powders and absolutely love the great coverage but natural finish of the Collection range.
