Dress, hair, make up, etc?

I regret haing a spray tan. I'm pale and my mum I always blame my mum insisted that I needed a spray tan. The tan itself was fine and I had 2 practise tans in the weeks before it, but I look utterly ridiculous in the photos with my pale DH and our DC . Also, it was patchy in between my fingers, so the one photo that I really wanted of our hands/rings looks silly although the photographer did a lovely job in black and white.

Everything else was fine, no regrets but I just wish I hadn't had the tan!

I wish that I didn't go for a fishtail dress as when I moved the fabric creased across my hips. On the day, I loved wearing it though but it's just the photos.

I also wish that we'd have got a proper photographer but we were out of money!

Wearing really blingy jewellery and tiara. It looked weird next to my really elegant lace dress. I also had the fake tan on the fingers issue.

Not having my dress tightened before I left. Not having straps...

I wish that I had a more relaxed hair-do and something more like how I usually wear my hair because I don't feel I look like me in the photos.
Also my brother was a twat on the morning of the wedding and when I'm stressed I get a rash. It really showed up on the b+w photos. So I wish I'd not bothered to invite him .

I had a 'wedding make up' - it was so awful I washed it off before the ceremony & just did my own .

White stockings. My dress was ankle length, straight skirted with no train and it was ivory with a calf length split at the back, there are some photos where my leg is showing and it looks really pink because of the white stockings, should have gone for a more nude colour.

I ditched out of wearing my flowers on a hair clip fascinator thing in my (short) hair at the last minute and am so glad I did, I much preferred the way I looked bareheaded.

Wished I hadn't had a photographer. Friends took great photos and it just tied up lots of time on the day when I'd far rather have been talking to people and I don't think anyone bought a photo. Also all the time traipsing back and forth to talk about it...

We haven't looked at the album since it came back from the photographers.

It was the most 'standard' wedding bit of the day and I hadn't wanted it at all and got talked into it. Should have stuck to my guns that I know friends would take good photos!

The nicest one we have was snapped on someone's mobile phone at a candid moment. We haven't got a photo up either - we aren't photo people...what we were thinking!

My dress was a bit too big. I'd lost weight before the wedding & there was no time to fix it. It looks a bit baggy across the bust in the photos.

I also regret the dresses I made the bridesmaids wear. Looking back they were hideous! They forgave me, thankfully.

I didn't tell the hair dresser that I was getting married. I had a really tiny informal wedding (7 guests!) and all they did was curl my hair (I had a beaded headband that I put on when I was getting dressed). Unfortunately my mum came into the hairdressers while they were in the middle of doing it and asked how the bride was in a really loud voice. They looked surprised and then the hairdresser and manager stood in the corner obviously talking about it. When it came time to leave, they charged me £50
So, my only regret is not telling my mum in advance not to mention that it was me getting married!!

Drinking sugary cocktails with my best friend the night before.. I didn't sleep a wink, no exaggeration, not even 5 minutes. It really ruined the day for me. Although I'd never admit it to my husband or my parents who spent so much for the day!

Gaining a crap ton of weight in the year leading up to our wedding thank you mother for all the stress

I have spent my entire adult life under 9 1/2 stone/size 10-12 aside from when I got married when all the drama led to lots of comfort drinking eating and a huge amount of weight gain. I lost all the weight not long afterwards and don't look like me in our wedding photos. It makes me very, very sad.

Glad I'm not the only one with wedding day regrets! It seems a bit taboo sometimes, like you're being ungrateful by not having the most perfect day.

Anyway, I regret my dress. I wanted to be able to dance without tripping up but didn't want some massive hoop thing. I should have gone for tea length. I ended up with a long dress that I tripped on everywhere I went because the dress maker couldn't understand that I didn't want it traipsing all over the floor. With that in mind, what I regret next is not changing into jeans halfway through the evening and tearing up the dance floor. Really, really regret that.

I wish I'd gone for a more slightly more bridal dress rather than a cheap summer dress. I wish my hair had been more soft and down rather than piled on my head with 1000 pins. I wish my bra couldn't be seen in the photos. I wish I wasn't stung by a jellyfish the day before and had a sting mark across my arm.
Fairly minor things though and I loved our informal wedding.

Regret having a gift list. I cringe now at the thought.

One more: with all the fuss that morning, I forgot to put on earrings.

Not having my hair done. My mum used to be a hairdresser and said 'Oh you don't need a hairdresser, I'll do it'. Didn't want to hurt her feelings so agreed. On the morning of the wedding she freaked out at the responsibility and I had to do it myself. It looked OK but you can see a bit I missed in my favourite photo and I didn't really feel 'done' enough. I do look like me in the pics which is a good thing, but I was gutted at the time that she had bailed on me.

I got away with the hair by the skin of my teeth, I hadn't booked a hairdresser as I had short hair and always did it myself, but on the morning I just couldn't get it right, luckily DH's aunt down the road who was a hairdresser came to the rescue.

I regret not inviting my 2nd best friend.
We were having a small wedding and only invited one friend each as it would get out of hand ,but. . . Looking back I should have asked her.
She was and always has been understanding about it and invited us to her beautiful ceremony but I have always had a twinge of regret at leaving her out.

I wish I had paid more for a hairdresser and done a rest run - it did look good but it started falling out halfway through the day and looks a bit of a mess in any pics.

I also wished we had eloped or just had immediate family - this is what I always wanted, my husband wanted a big do, he talked me round! It was a great day, non-traditional, personal and lots of fun (so we are told!) but really it just wasn't me and I cringe at the thought of the (relatively little) money we spent that could of helped towards our own house by now.
