This is still the only place I have ever known "mum boots" to be discussed Confused

Elfontheedge · 06/01/2016 13:16

Eurgh!

wickedlazy · 06/01/2016 13:16

I couldn't wear them myself, because I have fat feet and they look quite narrow/ pointy toe boots always pinche me, but I think they're grand. Can't go far wrong with black leather and a basic silver zip? And heel looks like it would be easy to walk in.

I'm 23, so maybe it's when women hit a certain age they worry about "mum boots"?

wickedlazy · 06/01/2016 13:17

Why Eurgh? What's wrong with them? Genuinely Confused

Quickchangeup · 06/01/2016 13:17

I really think it depends what you plan to wear them with!

ivejusthadacake · 06/01/2016 13:22

i wouldnt call them mum boots. they would look nice with skinny jeans and a nice shirt/blouse.

Pinkvici22 · 06/01/2016 13:24

to me, yes! My mum would definitely wear them (she's pretty stylish for 65 though!)

wickedlazy · 06/01/2016 13:30

What about skinny jeans, a brightly coloured top and black leather jacket?

Queenbean · 06/01/2016 13:30

Yes. Sorry :)

OneofTHOSEWomen · 06/01/2016 13:33

Depends on how you wear them. They'll look pretty good with black skinnies cuffed above the boot.

NickiFury · 06/01/2016 13:35

Yes.

Naicecuppatea · 06/01/2016 13:37

I dunno, I think the pointy toe might just take them from mum boot territory.

megletthesecond · 06/01/2016 13:37

I think so. Sorry.

MitzyLeFrouf · 06/01/2016 13:40

The Kinks used to wear boots like that.

I think they'd look fine with the right outfit.

Paddingtonthebear · 06/01/2016 13:42

I'm not sure. The heel might make them a bit mum boot, but the zip and pointy toe might take them away from mum boot territory. I wouldn't say they were frumpy.

Paddingtonthebear · 06/01/2016 13:42

What's the opinion on these. Are they mum boots?

OneofTHOSEWomen · 06/01/2016 13:46

Compared to the ones at the top, yes. The pointy toe and block heel make the top ones look a bit more "now" the Carvela ones are a bit more classic.

BumWad · 06/01/2016 13:46

They're pretty ugly to be honest

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 06/01/2016 14:03

I don't think either of them are mum boots Confused Worn with the right outfit, they would both look fine.

DoubleDeClutchMuch · 06/01/2016 14:25

thanks for feedback. I am 50 and wear them with black skinnies and long layered tops

yes I thought the pointy toe was the saving grace!

can anyone link to a pair of definitely NOT mumboots? does such a thing exist

OP posts:
burnishedsilver · 06/01/2016 14:28

The first ones look fine to me. They'd be mum boots worn with bootlegs and a fleece but put them with something trendier and they'd look good.

The mum boot thing is less about the boot and more about how you wear them.

taybert · 06/01/2016 14:30

I have yet to see a single pair of boots on here that someone, somewhere doesn't think are mum boots.

Lovelilies2 · 06/01/2016 14:32

I'm a mum and I wear boots. Ugg boots ShockGrin

wickedlazy · 06/01/2016 14:35

I have a pair like this, wouldn't say they were mum boots?

The mum boot thing is less about the boot and more about how you wear them.

aha! I think this is the secret.

wickedlazy those are not mum boots definitely not, but I wouldn't wear them personally. My DD would though (stylish 19 yr old)
